VIP City Bus Costa Rica: what do users think?
Samantha Bamford
Samantha Bamford: Jordan and Ivan were great! Very knowledgeable, safe, and made our San Jose tour a great time! I would highly recommend to anyone looking for tours in San Jose. Top notch!
Jason Hoppe
Jason Hoppe: Great tour if you want to waste a lot of time seeing very little of substance. The tour included the art museum, which we saw the front of and then never went in. Off to the central market to look around and stop at 2 spots that were clearly for tourist to buy junk... at 10% of course. Spent 45 minutes at the central market to see all kinds of wares and food and home supplies. Back on the double decker bus with a tour guide who was OK but the sound system on the bus was terrible. Stopped at a church, went inside but told not to walk around. Walked across the street to the city square, guide took pictures on his phone and that was it. Off to the national theater, wow, great!! Went into the lobby, and left for dinner. Back on the bus, dinner was at a local restaurant, true costa rican fare. Meal was decent. Back on the bus. Word to the wise, just walk the tour yourself, save the money and the boring waits at each location and enjoy a lot more than we did.
satish Murthy D Sathyana
satish Murthy D Sathyana: Absolute waste of money !!. It’s a lousy tour. Our tour guide was Jordan . He was rude and did not answer any of our questions. You won’t understand anything he speaks . He was talking in Spanish most of the time and just bits in English. The tour just includes gold museum tour and nothing else . Words of wise , The big chunk of the tour is within 1 mile of each other . Just take Uber or walk and you can do more in just a quarter of the money you spend on this horrible tour .
Sarah
Sarah: Worst tour I’ve ever taken. The tour guy, Jordan, was nice and great. However, Brian who runs the business was not accommodating. We had a flight the same day and Brian told us to take the tour and we would be back on time. We sat in the shuttle for 2 hours waiting to pick up other people from their hotels before we could even get to ours. We wasted our entire day being shuttled in the back of a van. Horrible experience and would not recommend this tour to anyone. Please find another tour.
Jaelle Racine (Michou)
Jaelle Racine (Michou): It was a fun and educational tour. I enjoyed walking around the market and art museum and they provide dinner.
Kerry Star
Kerry Star: I had a wonderful time on this bus tour and feel it is very but worth the money. The tour guide was lovely and very helpful. It was a great way to get to know the city and I feel more confident navigating the area alone now. My personal highlight was exploring the market and tasting the delicious ice cream.
David Treharne
David Treharne: This tour was not worth the cost We spent 1/1/4 hours in the bus just visiting other hotels to pick up people The 1st stop was like somebody’s house selling Jewellery and tourist trinkets Then another Couple of bland visits followed by the gold museum Don’t waste your money - just get a map and walk - you’ll see a lot more. All the visits were free anyway
Aisling Newman
Aisling Newman: Great tour and service. Guides were helpful. Meal included was delicious.
Виктория Малий
Виктория Малий: Bright, interesting tour! We visited all the main attractions of San Jose, visited the souvenir market, in a chic jewelry store, and first tried Guaro Cacique vodka. A comfortable bus with large panoramic windows, lively folk music, an excellent team of guides, are treated to drinks. Great tasty lunch at the restaurant "Ambiente" is included. You can book a tour on their website. Recommend!

Bayron Pérez
Bayron Pérez: Dangerous place, without a roof, without security, without distinction of bus departure, you should ask each driver or make sure you see the sign on the bus, depending on where you are going in San Pedro.
BERNAL RODRIGUEZ
BERNAL RODRIGUEZ: They should put more security after 6 in the afternoon, very lonely and policemen see each other every 8 hours in those parts
Arnoldo Alfonso Barberena Salas
Arnoldo Alfonso Barberena Salas: Central, however, due to the number of people who use the buses to San Pedro, the sidewalk is saturated and sometimes it is difficult to walk on that specific sidewalk.
Socorro del carmen Chevez
Socorro del carmen Chevez: You need a little more cleaning on the sidewalks, a lot of lazy people do not leave people waiting for the bus in peace, a little more security is needed
Maribell GR

Viv_ 2.0: The bus station has a snack bar, bakeries, grocery stores and a general store. There is plenty of seating in the waiting room. Claro products are available. Wifi is also available free of charge. Toilets cost 400 colons. Depending on the day of the week and the time of day, it is advisable to queue more than 1 hour before departure. The queues can be very long. A series of turnstiles form the barrier to the buses. Simply ask the station staff behind them where to queue. Bus tickets are bought from the driver. It should be paid in cash. The driver gives change.

Bus Terminal - Tracopa Ltda: what do users think?
Sev Di
Sev Di: Today, I was sold a ticket for a bus from San Jose to Manuel Antonio. When I asked the driver during the trip where he stops in Manuel Antonio, he said that the bus was not going to Manuel Antonio but only to Quepos. I speak Spanish and it was definitely not a misunderstanding, I had asked for a bus to Manuel Antonio and I had even asked a second time before boarding as on the bus itself, it was indicated direction Quepos. The driver explained to me that the company was trying to sell more tickets, so they basically lied. He then offered to pay me to take the local bus in Quepos going to Manuel Antonio, which I did. Admittedly, the distance between both is short. Yet, after having been on the road the whole day, arriving late and with a lot of luggage, the last thing I wanted and needed was another vehicle change. Overall, I find the attitude of the company towards their foreign clients not correct and very disappointing.
Kat Braun
Kat Braun: Súper easy terminal. tickets can be bought online on website or with "passer" app before the trip. usually leaving on time. travel north or south can also be with international busses, they are a bit faster than the regional ones. but depends on where you need to stop. beware of taxistas and order uber or friends pick up for around the córner. have a great trip! :)
Mauro Giovanni Eggli
Mauro Giovanni Eggli: If you want to buy a ticket you have to download the app passer. If you need any help contact their phone number via whatsapp. They are really helpful. We travlled from Jaco to Paso Canoas (Boarder to Panama) with them and everything went well. We had two stopps. We had time to eat some food.
Benjamin Munoz-Palma
Benjamin Munoz-Palma: Not the greatest surrounding area but I made it safely at 5:30 am walking. It’s not dangerous with common sense (regardless of what most people will tell you)
Thomas Jason Charles
Thomas Jason Charles: When I bought a ticket, it was impossible to pay by card. It only can pay by cash. Ticket-officer said ATM is on the corner but I couldn’t find it. Finally I went to closer bank from here (BCR, 5mins away by foot)
Kalina Shushlina
Kalina Shushlina: Bus was on time. Didn’t have a lot of stops, journey from San Jose bus stop to Quepos was 3hr 30 mins, and only for 10$ it was very good.
onetravelstheworld
onetravelstheworld: Bus Terminal, where all buses depart to go to the Pacific Coast. They have some small shops where you can buy water and snacks and you can also buy your bus ticket directly at the terminal.

Terminal 7-10: what do users think?
Y Z
Y Z: There is a bus from here to Jaco and Fortuna. I took the bus to Jaco at nine in the morning. there are stops on the way and you can get off wherever you want. The trip is almost 3 hours and it enters the main road of Jaco and there you can also get off at the stations on the road. There are no stops for toilet or food on the way. You can buy a ticket at the window inside the station in advance. There is air conditioning in the bus. The schedule is on the panel. You should buy a day in advance. The bus to Fortuna (08:40 once a day only) can’t t buy a ticket in advance and you have to come and stand in line. First come first served style. It also collects people on way and there are stops along the way. The drive is long and the road is winding but beautiful. On the way there is a 20 minute stop in Quesada Ciudad .There is no air conditioning in the bus.
Vu Dang
Vu Dang: 2,200 CRC ($4 CAD) to get to La Fortuna from San Jose. - Bus leaves at 8:40am, but fills up quickly so should line up at 8am. Only one per day. - The backup if first option fails, is a bus that goes to San Carlos, leaving at 9am, then you switch buses from San Carlos to La Fortuna. You pay 2,200 from San Jose to San Carlos, and then 1,500 from San Carlos to La Fortuna. - You pay bus drivers directly with cash. - Bus was not that bad, no air conditioning but maybe I was lucky we went on a fresh breeze day. Every one got a seat for most part. - The station could use more signs, information, I didnt know how anything worked. But a lot of other travelers, try to band with other people going same destination as you. You can follow my travel tips on YouTube & Instagram @ iVuDang
Tal Rosset
Tal Rosset: BE CAREFUL: As already was written before (we didn’t see that, only after the case)- taxi drivers waiting in the entrance and tell tourists that their bus left early today (for fake reasons), only for taking them to their next station and charge money. Don’t believe them!
Jenny Robl
Jenny Robl: Do NOT believe the people at the entrances. They seem nice and helpful but they sistematicly trick tourists by telling them their bus left already and the only way to get to your destination is by cab for morge than $100.- !Go into the terminal and ask at the ticket offices for information.
Julia R.
Julia R.: WATCH OUT! There are scammers which tell you that you have missed your bus or the bus is cancelled. It’s a trick and they work with many people together! They will offer you to drive to the next bus station to catch the bus. After driving 1-1,5 hours to the “next” bus station, they will ask a huge amount of money. I met already 4 girls who got scammed this way, especially solo travelers In case you need a taxi, take UBER
Mila Lara
Mila Lara: They ruin the bus station after they allow so much Nicaraguan people be around.Thief and bad people around the station.
Jakob Leitner
Jakob Leitner: A good place to take the public direct bus to La Fortuna. The bus leaves every day at 8:40am. It takes more than 4 hours to La Fortuna. You can purchase the tickets in the bus. No reservations required! It costs only 1400 colones and it is more comfortable than the expensive tourist vans.
Johan Ekroth
Johan Ekroth: Quite okay, they have fairly good service. Please be aware that the terminal is located in an area in San José with homelessness and trash on the streets. Be very careful if you walk home during nighttime as it is unsafe too.

TicaBus: what do users think?
Ian
Ian: Really poor service. No sestbelts or charging ports on the 18hr service from panama city to costa rica. Absolutely no direction given at the border crossing and the staff were just rude. The bus stank or urine and was freezing cold. The air con was on all evening even after several passengers complained about the cold. If your making this trip, do yourself a favour and pay extra for thr flight.
Tico Roots
Tico Roots: Very good service from staff and the security guard does not treat you as if you are a criminal. They have a lab that does the covid PCR test there at the bus station from 7am to 12pm so if you buy the bus ticket, the PCR test is around 36 thousand colones since you get a discount for buying the bus ticket. This particular tica bus agency is awesome. The staff goes the extra mile for people there.
John Lindhout
John Lindhout: The service is okay. However you loose hours at the border because of the group process. Airco was so cold that we arrived as frozen chickens in Managua around 9pm having left at 7.30am.
joshua brown
joshua brown: We was delayed almost 2hrs, staff did not notify reason. And this was lunch in executive tickets. Had to pay tip to put luggage in the bus. At least we had a screen to watch movie and seat was comfortable.
M. Zellers
M. Zellers: A tax is levied - in cash, in dollars, ONLY - which there is no information about prior to check-in - and the closest working cash machine with dollars was a 15 minute walk away. This tax should be included in the ticket purchase, since it is levied for every traveller. Check-in was confusing and disorganised, involving visits to 3 different counters, which were all involved in other tasks as well. Staff were friendly but this does not fix the fact that the customer service was terrible.
PA Burnouf
PA Burnouf: We had to take the bus at 12:00 and we arrive at 12:00 but they told us it was too late and they forced us to take the bus the next day. When we arrived the bus was still there and the drivers were talking and laughing between them. They really could let us go in but they just didnt wanted to help.

Luis Aguilar
Luis Aguilar: Super
Luis Vargas (luivar)
Luis Vargas (luivar): More than an opinion about the stop as such, I prefer to give an opinion about the service and its drivers but not generalize them all. The bus service is bad, more than bad, lousy. The last time I used the service, a boy asked the driver if the route would leave him at Plaza Madrid and the driver answered NO... Knowing very well that he would leave him very close to it. How awful...!
Julio César Vargas Sequeira
Julio César Vargas Sequeira: Super close to the entrance to Chinatown on Second Av. The ticket costs ¢335 or what is the same at the exchange rate of $0.52
José Manuel Salazar Porras
José Manuel Salazar Porras: There are no facilities for the elderly or people with mobility problems. The stop on the street.
Pablo Bustamante Mora
Pablo Bustamante Mora: There are two stops: one with a roof and another further on, by the pedestrian crossing. In this second one the bus from Barrio Los Angeles is grabbed, this second one has no roof or seats.
Manuel Rocha
Manuel Rocha: The bus service is fair to bad and you have to wait a long time to board the bus depending on the street, Los, Angeles, San Francisco or Salitrillo, usually the wait is 45 to 60 minutes, horrible.
Jeison Montero Segura
Jeison Montero Segura: How is it going to be possible that this stop is located in the very heart of San José and does not have spaces for booth seats and not get wet when it rains?
HEYNER WILLIAM (NETWORK CHANNEL)
HEYNER WILLIAM (NETWORK CHANNEL): It is very poorly located and is currently very unhealthy, since the municipality of San José does not provide adequate maintenance. It is also an area frequented by crime. They also fail to comply with the bus departure schedule.

Marcos Badilla salas
Marcos Badilla salas: Very organized sometimes. Early like 6am, 6:30 am, many people queuing for the buses from old street to Santa Ana. Arrive early before that time so as not to be late for work.
brandon flores
brandon flores: It is a good service of the Bus Terminal since they are very punctual at the time of departure with the schedules, apart from that you also have the possibility of buying food in the mini-supermarkets or supply places that are inside the same terminal.
Dinamo Ω
Dinamo Ω: Unfortunately it is an unsafe place in the center of San José. There are itinerant preachers, a lot of trash, and a blind eye to the municipal authorities (who already do not do their job well). Yes, you must board a bus at this terminal. It is advisable to arrive about 5 minutes before your transport departs, to try to spend the shortest time in this place.
César Álvarez
César Álvarez: Well more or less.

Interbus Costa Rica: what do users think?
LAFOTODENATALIE Houston
LAFOTODENATALIE Houston: Interbus service was very reliable during my stay in CR. I have used it on my way from San Jose to Jaco and back . The shuttle arrived on time twice . The drivers were very friendly, very professional. The cost for the ride was affordable . I was glad that I made a good choice by choosing Interbus . You have to book them in advance , ( 48 hrs or more ) because they do not respond right away. I highly recommend this service to anyone .
Lilly H
Lilly H: Wow 10/10 for Interbus. I have used this company for all of my travels between cities in Costa Rica and was already satisfied with the the company being on time and delivering me on time. But today takes the cake. Somehow I ended up booking a hotel that was closed because of the pandemic and he went out of his way to find me a reputable hostel nearby with availability. He even went inside and explained the situation to the hostel and ensured they had space for me. When I come back to Costa Rica I will definitely use this company again and I will recommend it to anyone I know travelling here.
Laura Canna
Laura Canna: Amazing service! We went from Manuel Antonio to Arenal usinga shared shuttle. We had to change van and driver in San José to continue to Arenal and both drivers were super professional, made me feel safe as they would not use their phone while driving, unlike other companies. I also forgot my fleece on the first van and two days later they brought it back to me in the hotel I am staying (of course I left a little reward for the driver). We will be using them again when we need to head back to San José. Prices are better than other companies. Absolutely recommended!
M H
M H: I can’t praise Interbus enough. I have used them for all my travels through Costa Rica, at least 8 times and they were always on time (often a bit early), the wi-fi and aircon were always working, and the drivers are super friendly. You get a rest stop on longer journeys to use the bathroom and get drinks/food and the communication was so easy. I usually asked via whatsapp whether a route is available and they would respond immediately and then send a link for payment and pick up/drop off location. It’s the easiest to travel and you also get to meet other travellers. I also used one of their offices ones in Puerto Viejo and the person working there was very patient and helpful. It’s so convenient as they pick you up from your hotel and drop you off at your next one. I was very happy with their services and can’t thank the team enough!
Gugan Bahra
Gugan Bahra: InterBus was organised by our hotel (Mango Moon Villa in Manuel Antonio) and we didn’t know what to expect. The two buses were super clean, they had bins and AC. The drivers were excellent, careful and safe. Thank you Antonio for getting us to La Fortuna from Quepos (3 hour journey through the mountains). I will recommend to others!
Claudia Martinez
Claudia Martinez: I booked 3 trips with them while traveling thru Costa Rica, great service, always on time, can pickup from your hotel if nearby. Wifi available on bus. Will use them again on future trips.
Jules Evans
Jules Evans: Hour late in arriving. Perhaps not their fault if traffic so terrible in Costa Rica but I’d advise passengers to expect delays and not cut it fine if you need to get somewhere like the airport
Response: hello Yes; We are sorry, the traffic in Costa Rica is very heavy and it is out of our hands to control it, but we provide a quality service so that all our clients arrive safely at their destination.
Marieke B
Marieke B: I was in doubt whether I wanted to book this bus so now that I have a positive experience I thought I would leave a review. The bus picked me up exactly on time and the drive was really good! Heidi the driver was very kind and drove safely. We also had a break for 20 minutes to buy some coffee or snacks and to use the bathroom. It was a really convenient and nice experience! It’s of course expensive but I do recommend it.
Nicki Padar
Nicki Padar: Do not use Interbus. They were extremely slow to respond when we needed a shuttle to the airport. When they finally did respond, they ended up booking us on the wrong date creating an immense amount of stress for us as we had no ride to the airport now (we found out the evening before our flight). When I emailed them asking if this was a mistake they didn’t respond until the next morning when we had already decided to rent a car. Use other shuttle services please.

Taylor Phelps: I used this public bus from Monteverde to San Jose in December 2020 as a solo female traveler. I found the bus to be extremely cheap and reliable. The seats/bus were clean and comfortable. There are short stops along the road throughout but the entire trip was about 4.5 hours and ~3000 colones.

jorge armando gamboa gomez: Need to modernize and give a better impression for customers. Quite orderly, a lot of traffic and lack of security. Many buses at the service and very constant. The arrival and departure of buses is slow because it is in an area heavily traveled by transport of all kinds and people. Small toilets and need to be repaired but they work.
