Atocha: what do users think?
David Campos
David Campos: Food and drink quality were fine, but service was inconsistent. Servers disappeared once main course arrived (I wanted to order another glass of wine or drink and dessert, but after no one came for over 15 minutes after I’d finished eating, I had to go find someone to get the check).
Kayann Richards
Kayann Richards: One of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in Costa Rica!
Nathalie Karouni
Nathalie Karouni: Wow! After 2 weeks all over Costa Rica, I can confidently say that this restaurant was one of the best findings ever! Food experience being one of the most special assets in my travel journeys, this was an above and beyond experience. Not only the food was beyond expectations and accurate to traditional Spanish food, the service and ambiance were delightful too. I leave Costa Rica today with this place being one of my fondest dining memories of my trip. Thank you!!
Willy Driessen
Willy Driessen: Very good restaurant with good sized portions. Nice ambience! Really great place for good food! Spanish oriented food, good wine assortiment. Nice about this restaurant is that, if you come with a group, you can have your own, private space! Small group as well as a group of 20 people. An absolute must to visit!
Corrine Carr
Corrine Carr: Great food, service, and hearty portions. I highly recommend checking this place out! For tapas we had the mushrooms, patatas bravas, and pork cheeks, and for our entrees we had mixed paella and beef tenderloin. All was delicious!! I will without a doubt return if I find myself in San Jose again in the future.
Shakhnoza Muminova
Shakhnoza Muminova: I like the food and the atmosphere there.
Chris K
Chris K: Friendly Staff, good food, quite spot to enjoy by yourself or with a few friends. 1st Course: Pork Cheeks Delicious. Very rich and is served over rice. Slight fruitiness from being braised in wine. I could have eaten just this but the portion size is tapas style. C7500 2nd Course: Chickpea stew with sausage. This was the least favorite of my experience but it was very heart and ate well. Never saw any sausage in but there was ham and a small amount of chicken. C9500 3rd Course: Mediterranean salad with Fresh Tuna I had a hard time choosing my favorite between the pork cheeks and this. The vegetables were crispy and the tuna cooked perfectly rare. Something to get use to in CR is the salads are often just shredded romaine or leaf lettuce compared to the US which has a bit more to offer. Nonetheless it was a great finish to the meal. Complimentary Espresso to finish the meal as well. The owner is very friendly and was kind enough to chat with me about my trip.
Spencer Hamil
Spencer Hamil: Food poisoning from the seafood!
Mariano Rodriguez
Mariano Rodriguez: One of the best places to go, foos is great and quality/price relation is good, service is very good.

J Owww
J Owww: Terrible service from start to finish. Not sure if you could try to be a worse waiter/waitress if you tried. Took forever for simple pasta dishes that were drenched in butter. I could see the unmixed butter on my plate still. After bussing my own table I then had to wait 15 minutes to even pay. This is the first in depth bad review I’ve ever left.

Restaurante Grano De Oro: what do users think?
David Bethiel
David Bethiel: This is one of the best fine dining restaurants you will find in San Jose. The cost is commensurate with that level of quality, but frankly, it was reasonable for the experience. The food was excellent... loved the lamb shank. Reservations definitely recommended. This place will easily become a favorite for you to return to whenever you visit San Jose.
Hector Willars
Hector Willars: Excellent dinner and reasonably priced for a gourmet restaurant and exceptional service. Enjoyed dinner in the elegant dining room overlooking the open air courtyard. It happened to be lightly raining during dinner, making for a truly unique experience. Highly recommend.
Q L
Q L: We are the guest of the hotel and we decided to have dinner here as well, the atmosphere is amazing, they had decorated for the Christmas holiday, we had a pretty significant misunderstanding with the waiter (12/7th) luckily the manager stepped in and handled everything with one of the most professional customer centric approaches we have ever seen. We’d lovely to come back again and highly recommended.
Paul Jones
Paul Jones: This place was amazing! We stumbled into it by chance, and now we want to stay here at the hotel on our next trip (this time was just dinner).
Nicolas Steegmann

A Mac: This place is beyond amazing! Food was really great!!!! Good quality. Service is awesome. The view is just fabulous. Make sure to walk down to Views and Roses. You would even see lots of people going there only to take pictures and videos, that’s how pretty the place is. I highly recommend the restaurant and foods.
Robson Wong
Robson Wong: This place is a little away from the city but it’s worth traveling to get there. The food was great and the portions were pretty generous. Beautiful views of the city.Recommended dishes Plato Mixto …More
Casey Bricker
Casey Bricker: Cool restaurant with stunning views! 15 minutes from our hotel in escazu. We went on a rainy rainy night so I can only imagine how beautiful it would be with a clear night and a sunset. Waiter was awesome, food was so delicious. Live dancers and music is so fun. Very touristy place, there were large groups of American teenage tour groups that were slightly obnoxious (we’re American too). Would definitely recommend this as a must-see in San José!
Anthony S
Anthony S: Great food selection. Restaurant is beautiful and has the best view of the valley from any seat.

Azotea Calle 7: what do users think?
Andrew Joaquin
Andrew Joaquin: We went for sunset and had a great time. Great views of the city, quiet rooftop with light jazz music, food and drinks were tasty, prices are reasonable, and the servers were attentive. The restaurant has a very Parisian feel with the brick flooring and metal tables. Lots of greenery that attracted parrots. Reservations recommended if you want to watch the sunset. The patio was full if you didn’t have resos. Highly recommended!!
Response: Thank you Andrew! We are glad to know that you had a good experience at Azotea. It is a great way to spend a late afternoon or an evening.
Tara S.
Tara S.: From the atmosphere, staffs, quality of food and drinks. All i can say is this is what a true hospitality and quality meets.

Richard Cauchi
Richard Cauchi: We discovered this place from hotel reviews, and visited during our first-night stay. Charming, convenient meals, wine and snacks. The atmosphere was a classic pub, with bar, terrace seating and friendly service. Our light late-evening dinner included Ceviche Maracuya, ($7.40 US)) authentic, fresh and tangy; Empanaditas- 2 at $4 US; glass of Malbec and Cabernet ($6.30 each); Sopes ($7). Very convenient as hotel guests but open to all.
Response: Thank you! We are glad that you enjoyed Azotea Calle 7. Please tell your friends about us!

Response: Hello Diego! Azotea Calle 7 is a small and intimate bar and restaurant. Our menu is designed to accompany our cocktails and many drinks. Our parking place is small and reserved to the guests of our hotel but we have many private parking places in the sorrounding area.
Maggie Macdonald
Maggie Macdonald: What a great find, that is a little hard to find. Beautiful view of the city from up here in a little garden. It was raining so we sat inside, still a really cool space. You hear all the church bells ring at just after 5 it is very cool. If you’re looking for this it’s halfway down the block on the left if your walking from Central Ave towards 2! Enjoy!
Response: Thank you, Maggie. Definitely you can enjoy Azotea whether it rains or shines!

Zak Harmon
Zak Harmon: Such an exquisite place. The 8 course dinner experience and wine pairing is worthy of a Michelin star. The creativity of the food concepts and the presentation of the plates ties together perfectly with the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant. This is my favorite fine dining experience in San Jose so far!
Arman Barbuco
Arman Barbuco: I was searching for a local restaurant to eat and after reading the comments we decided to go. That’s a good choice. The place is nice, it reminds me of those old houses back in our country Philippines. We asked the staff to tell us about the menu. They recommended the 8 course menu. But there are also the regular ones. We decided for the 8 course and it was perfect. All are great tastes on their own. So if you decide to visit to this place the 8 course is a must try, you will not regret it.
Andreea Giurgea
Andreea Giurgea: Nice restaurant quite close to where we were staying in San Jose. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Some dishes were very nice while some were not so good. Very creative menu, inspired by Costa Rican regions. The service was good but the explanations of the dishes could have been better. Other guests got more in depth explanations in Spanish, while we felt a bit left out. The food presentation was super creative.
Evangelia Margariti

Gilbert Corrales: Amazing gem right on the edge of the capital. Their 3 course lunch menu is an amazing way to enjoy quality food and be surprised by the creative of the chef. Wine pairing with the meal was a nice surprise and amplified the amazing flavours of the meals prepared. This is a place deserving of a Michelin star.

DM Kelley: When making a reservation same day at this facility, this business does not answer, respond or check for evening reservations although they stated they require rsvp for table. Not professional in least and based on returning to facility 10 years after my initial visit from day of my marriage I can say when we were met at door with "closed " on Friday as we are having a party did not meet with Pura Vida or professionalism.. lost 2 hours driving here for nothing.

GamerZcr: First class service, well-perfected gourmet menu, exquisite fork, different environments for every need and privacy. Excellent place for a private dinner, for a lunch with a strategic client/supplier with a controlled environment, or for an event for groups of 30-50 people depending on the number of rooms it occupies. I emphasize again, first class attention. Price? yes, it is not cheap, you pay for the attention, the environment to your need, the fork and most importantly, the result of the objective of your meeting.
Diana Jimenez
Diana Jimenez: We went to try and celebrate a birthday: each dish was a feast for the palate... the octopus for starters, the cheese fondue, the dessert. We received excellent treatment, from Andrea who confirmed our reservation to Kevin who attended us and suggested several of the options we tried. The place is cosy. We had a very pleasant experience on our first visit.

Joash Buenavista
Joash Buenavista: If you love Peruvian dish, this is the place to go. My wife brought me here because it was one of her favorite places to go. She’s a local but I’m the tourist. From the outside, it didn’t seem appealing enough to enter the restaurant. Needless to say, I was skeptical. But, to my surprise, after entering this restaurant, I found myself shocked at how elegantly put together the place looked. It had an old traditional Spanish feel to it. And to top it off, the dishes were absolutely amazing. My favorite dish out of my wife’s recommendations was the soup. Try it, the dish will surprise you with its rich savory flavor. I’d love to go back and try out other dishes. I suddenly love Peruvian.
Ken Buckheit
Ken Buckheit: The ceviche was to die for with large chunks of excellent seafood and mostly seafood instead of cheap filler. We also had a seafood soup which was also outrageous. I particularly enjoyed their homemade hot sauce which many might believe is too hit, but was perfect for me. I always love discovering a new type of pepper. The service was also outstanding.
Anastasiya Endeberya
Anastasiya Endeberya: Incredible and delicious food. Everything on the menu is extremely tasty and flavorful! Their causas and ceviche is phenomenal. I had their sea bass gratin and honestly I’ve never had anything that tasted so darn good! So much flavor in every dish. Their drinks are delicious and strong as well. Super clean place, with great atmosphere and incredible staff! You must come here if you’re in the area!
Nick Alfaro
Nick Alfaro: Such a fantastic experience. We flew in to San Jose and stayed at a hostel near by and chose this restaurant as our first meal in Costa Rica. The food and drinks were fantastic and very fresh. Highly recommend.
Alejandra Diaz
Alejandra Diaz: Great place to have Peruvian food, ceviches are super fresh. Tiraditos are very good too, prices are not too high for San Jose.

Jenna Marie Andrews: Fantastic place to have dinner. Ceviche Mixto is delicious and menu options are very good. Good wine selection, service is great, and they have a security guard that watches the restaurant. I stopped here between the bus and airport for a final ceviche hit, and was very happy. Highly recommended!Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 …More

Lori Williams
Lori Williams: We lived in Peru for 10 years. Since then we have traveled the world and this is by far the best and most authentic Peruvian food we have ever had our side of Peru. Portions were very plentiful. Food was delivered quickly and the waiter was attentive, friendly and helpful. Great night out!!
Restaurant Critic
Restaurant Critic: This place is as authentic as they come. The ceviche is the real deal. Big lumps of fresh fish with the real rocoto pepper juice. Comes with corn and juca and sweet potatoes and of course the onions. Yummy. The main course was a fish with fresh seafood on top. With some sort of a tomato sauce. It is delicious. Their beef with shrimp was just ok. I tried a little bit from my friend. The beef was not the most tender and the rest of the shrimp was cooked with no sauce or anything which is a small bummer for the dish. It does come with some grilled vegetables and cut pieces of sliced garlic for taste. My friend did enjoy the surf and turf however not so much the shrimp. For dessert, i ordered the coconut flan and it is a piece of art. Delicious, not so creamy or heavy but just the right amount of sweet. I highly recommend this place.

Every dish in the 5 course menu had balanced and complex flavors, complementing the natural ingredients sourced throughout the country. It was a wonderful experience and you could taste the pride in costa rica and its cuisine.

Peter Berkers
Peter Berkers: With an organised trip i went to Costa Rica. For our last evening we had chosen to eat local Costa Rican Food. A travel guide adviced Sikwa Restaurante when you would like to eat local Costa Rican dishes in San José. With a group of 13 we went to Sikwa and it was a nice evening. The food was delicious and the waiters were super friendly and advised their favorite dishes of the menu and answered all our questions about the food. I had chosen de Pejibaye tamale and for desert the purple corn flan. I tasted different local flavours and the composition of the food on the plates was nice. After dinner the tourleader asked for a nice and safe place to go out on that Saturday evening. And they advised Antik. That was a good and safe location with good music and atmosphere.

Christopher Taylor: Beautiful restaurant with elevated food and drink offerings. The thing I liked most was the music, most places seem to play English speaking stuff, but Sikwa actually had cumbia etc. Highly recommend. Great staff!
David Clarke
