Daniel Bonilla
Daniel Bonilla: Bad service. We have to constantly keep getting the server attention to get basic things like water. It is unfortunate since the atmosphere is very inviting. Bad service, low food quality.Food: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
J Owww
J Owww: Terrible service from start to finish. Not sure if you could try to be a worse waiter/waitress if you tried. Took forever for simple pasta dishes that were drenched in butter. I could see the unmixed butter on my plate still. After bussing my own table I then had to wait 15 minutes to even pay. This is the first in depth bad review I’ve ever left.

David Bethiel
David Bethiel: This is one of the best fine dining restaurants you will find in San Jose. The cost is commensurate with that level of quality, but frankly, it was reasonable for the experience. The food was excellent... loved the lamb shank. Reservations definitely recommended. This place will easily become a favorite for you to return to whenever you visit San Jose.
Hector Willars
Hector Willars: Excellent dinner and reasonably priced for a gourmet restaurant and exceptional service. Enjoyed dinner in the elegant dining room overlooking the open air courtyard. It happened to be lightly raining during dinner, making for a truly unique experience. Highly recommend.
Q L
Q L: We are the guest of the hotel and we decided to have dinner here as well, the atmosphere is amazing, they had decorated for the Christmas holiday, we had a pretty significant misunderstanding with the waiter (12/7th) luckily the manager stepped in and handled everything with one of the most professional customer centric approaches we have ever seen. We’d lovely to come back again and highly recommended.
Paul Jones
Paul Jones: This place was amazing! We stumbled into it by chance, and now we want to stay here at the hotel on our next trip (this time was just dinner).
Nicolas Steegmann
Nicolas Steegmann: Great service, presentation and vibe. We really enjoyed the environment but the food was flavorless. It’s not acceptable for a high-end restaurant that charges these prices to not have tasty delicious food
Nick Halverson VSB
Nick Halverson VSB: Absolutely wonderful restaurant. High quality and delicious food. Professional wait staff. Great ambiance (my group and I sat outside in the courtyard). I will definitely return.

Laine Walsh
Laine Walsh: A little on the pricey side compared to the other restaurants in the area. Absolutely delicious food. My steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the vegetables were as well. The lovely interior decor and design caught our eye walkikg by and prompted us to come in. A great stop for dinner
Response: Good morning, dear Laine Thank you for your rating, and for choosing our restaurant. We are glad you enjoyed the service. We hope you will visit us again. Best regards,
Diane B
Diane B: We came here because it was the only place open and serving mimosas on a Sunday morning. Beautiful atmosphere and great service! The mimosas were perfect...a whole bottle of cava with juices on the side for around $28
Response: Good morning, dear Diane Thank you for your opinion about the Restaurant, we are pleased to know that it was a wonderful experience. We hope you will visit us again. Best regards,

Last Nomad
Last Nomad: Great food in this downtown location with a wide open patio. You can enjoy a medley of dishes and some are made to order. The sounds from the street are present but not a major distraction from the ambiance of the dinning room. WI-FI is free and high speed.
Drago G
Drago G: I came here because it was late on a Monday night and nothing else was open near. It was a horrible decision to eat here. The restaurant was empty maybe 4 tables with people. Service here was absolutely garbage after 20 minutes of waiting I had to find a waiter to place my order. Then another 10 minutes to wait for my drink. Food took another 40 minutes and the pizza was a bit cold as if it sat in the kitchen for a long time. When I asked for a box to go I waited again another 15 minutes before getting my box. As I was paying I over heard another waitress laughing as she was getting another complaint about her service. If you can avoid this place do!!!
Guilberth Bermudez
Guilberth Bermudez: Good looking place, nice vibe, a little bit pricey, we had some beers because we wanted to go to the balcony and oversee the main boulevard but it is closed for renovations. Liked it there but service was sometimes very slow.Food: 4/5 | Service: 3/5 | Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Louna Albert
Louna Albert: I feel obligated to write a review about the service provided to me and my fiancée at El Patio and I am urging you to not come to this restaurant because even tough we were being taken care of by the manager on duty, we were largely ignored by her . The expectation of service to one’s customer was neglectful throughout this experience. Again go elsewhere and do not come to this restaurant.

Kimberly Martin
Kimberly Martin: Great French restaurant with a bakery/breakfast also. Very nice, very French ambiance. Good for multiple occasions. Nice bar. Food is excellent. Good service! In downtown San Jose area. Was walkable from the cavallini dental Clinic. Been here many times and keep Coming back. Such good food and ambiance. Had salad, corvina and salmon. Profiteroles for dessert. Aperol Spritz for drink. Can’t go wrong here. Can even grab dessert from the bakery. Highly recommend. $50 pp for 1 drink each, 1 app, 2 fish dinners and 1 desert shared for 2. Left super full amd with leftovers. Can’t wait to try the French onion soup next time. Our hotel includes breakfast from here. Just love.
Response: Good morning Kimberly, thank you for your review. If you really liked the Bistrot plz give us a 5 stars because the 4 stars actually affect our ranking in a negative way since we overall have 4.7 . Thank you so much, and hope to see you back soon
Leanda Williams
Leanda Williams: The waitress was nice, attentive, The food was great, tasty. The service was great. The chef gave us a nice tasty desert. I highly recommend this place.

René Schütte-Bruns
René Schütte-Bruns: Outstanding food and quality. This restaurant was a random find since it was close to my accommodation, yet I absolutely did not regret to go here. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the love the chefs put into the preparation of their food. I have been eating at many places throughout my travels, but this one is certainly playing in the league of the best restaurants I have been to. Highly recommended and totally worth the slightly upscale prices.
Response: Thank you very much for your comments. Much appreciated 🙏
Bartosz Brozek
Bartosz Brozek: French cafe and restaurant decorated in typical Parisienne style. We only had few cakes and a coffee, both were really good. Food menu looks interesting and I would love to try it next time when in town

juan carlos Borbon
juan carlos Borbon: The service was awful, they forgot to provide us with water, napkins, cutlery... We ordered a sirloin steak that was cheap and poor quality. Fries coming with it, were re-fried and made 4 hours ago, burnt and salty. Unexistent choice of sauces. Waiters seemed to be amateurs not professionals as we had to remind them repeatedly we did not have water. Worst of it all, it was expensive as hell.

Bella Birgau
Bella Birgau: We came to Costa Rica for spring break and we were starving!! We went grocery shopping next door and we passed the French restaurant, when we came back to our hotel the hotel staff also recommended we go there and we did! The food was amazing, both me and my mom had the ribeye steak with the French fries and the salad (salad was just as delicious as the entrees). While waiting for our food we browsed the display of beautiful desserts. We got some to go as well, I couldn’t tell you what they are called but we ate every bite and still wanted more. Fabian was our server and being a bartender myself I was thoroughly impressed with how clean and organized everything was. I ordered a Sol beer that he squeezed lime on the bottom of the glass and made it even more delicious. He did a great job and we HAVE to go back one more time before we leave. 100/10 definitely recommend!!!
Response: Thank you so much for your comments 🙏
Jessica Mylan
Jessica Mylan: Beautiful place for DELICIOUS French food! I had coffee and french onion soup- and it was spot on with strong flavors of cognac and rich melted cheese! Beautiful, clean atmosphere off the bustling Paseo Colon. Their pastries and main dishes also looked fabulous! Classically hospitable Tico service as well. Highly recommend for a nice meal or a cafe and pastry stop!
Response: Thank you very much for your comments. Much appreciated

Laurie Duffau
Laurie Duffau: If you are looking to impress a guest this is the place to go. Service is awesome and most servers are bilingual (Spanish and English), the presentation of the main dish is memorable. The food absolutely amazing. MUST TRY
Francesca Cesari
Francesca Cesari: Not great food, at leat for an Italian. Had pizzq (seemed like the safest thing to order abroad) and it seemed rolled with a rolling pin as the base was like bread, not pizza. Taste was not that great - in sum, not a pizza. But service was good.
DCS
DCS: Great place and good attention! The menu and the quality are excellent!
Matthew Smith
Matthew Smith: We stopped here on our first night in San Jose. The wait staff was welcoming and able to understand our broken Spanish (and help us in English). I have a gluten allergy and our server helped me find options on the menu. We ordered multiple courses and I found the pacing to be relaxed, but not slow. Perfect to savor the food and atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend Limoncello for great Italian style food in San José. Especially for those looking for gluten free options.
David McCurley
David McCurley: Classy place. Excellent service. Food was good. Medium price range.
Richard Blaser
Richard Blaser: Limoncello is spot on for food/price/service. They also have private dining rooms upstairs for meetings and such. The staff is extremely attentive and the food is delicious. They also offer gluten free options and will be very accommodating if you wish to change things about your meal.
Álvaro Justen
Álvaro Justen: One of the best restaurants in town. Well served dishes, amazing waiter, very interesting wine machine. There very good vegetarian options.

Restaurante Silvestre: what do users think?
Zak Harmon
Zak Harmon: Such an exquisite place. The 8 course dinner experience and wine pairing is worthy of a Michelin star. The creativity of the food concepts and the presentation of the plates ties together perfectly with the ambience and atmosphere of the restaurant. This is my favorite fine dining experience in San Jose so far!
Arman Barbuco
Arman Barbuco: I was searching for a local restaurant to eat and after reading the comments we decided to go. That’s a good choice. The place is nice, it reminds me of those old houses back in our country Philippines. We asked the staff to tell us about the menu. They recommended the 8 course menu. But there are also the regular ones. We decided for the 8 course and it was perfect. All are great tastes on their own. So if you decide to visit to this place the 8 course is a must try, you will not regret it.
Andreea Giurgea
Andreea Giurgea: Nice restaurant quite close to where we were staying in San Jose. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Some dishes were very nice while some were not so good. Very creative menu, inspired by Costa Rican regions. The service was good but the explanations of the dishes could have been better. Other guests got more in depth explanations in Spanish, while we felt a bit left out. The food presentation was super creative.
Evangelia Margariti
Evangelia Margariti: We had the 8 course menu that Silverstre offers and it was mythical. A wide variation of flavours. The service was exceptional and with each course was a detailed explanation of the dish. Perfect atmosphere! Highly recommended for a fine dining experience in Costa Rica!
Jordan Maughan
Jordan Maughan: Such a good tasting menu. Felt like I was eating some of the authentic dishes of Costa Rica prepared in unique ways with the best ingredients. If you’re in the SJO area, you should definitely go here!
Sunny Argan
Sunny Argan: Fantastic restaurant with amazing service. Great menu and wine list. I would suggest the inventive tasting menu with the chef’s wine pairing. You will be taken on a journey full of flavorful dishes with depth and meaning.
Gilbert Corrales
Gilbert Corrales: Amazing gem right on the edge of the capital. Their 3 course lunch menu is an amazing way to enjoy quality food and be surprised by the creative of the chef. Wine pairing with the meal was a nice surprise and amplified the amazing flavours of the meals prepared. This is a place deserving of a Michelin star.
Melody Desrochers
Melody Desrochers: Amazing food and ambiance. A Costa Rican gem! The chef prepares dishes to represent the different areas in the country. A must try
Teo Trenkov
Teo Trenkov: Great experience, pleasantly surprised by the stories that go with each dish. Mind blown by the 3* Michelin worthy honey dessert.

Joanne Lee
Joanne Lee: Great dining experience! Ordered the beef empanada and 3 mushroom over fried polenta for appetizers. The bread and butter were superb. My entree of beef in malbec reduction with potato gratin was delicious! Finished off with flan and decaf coffee. We went back for a second time during our short trip. Thank you for letting us in despite full house. We sat at the bar for dinner, desserts and drinks. The bar tenders were AWESOME. Thank you again for a great time.
Wendy Schweikert
Wendy Schweikert: Warm ambience, interesting decor, extensive menu and wine selection. Excellent service. We had reservations for lunch and everything met our high expectations. Our group shared mussels, empanadas, ensalada primavera, sopa pumpkin, Lomita en Bernese sauce, blood sausage. Chocolate mousse with walnuts for dessert. Be certain to request whipped cream with the mousse. All delicious! Highly recommend.
Efi Karra
Efi Karra: I visited this restaurant twice and the food was amazing both times. The decor and atmosphere is great. The service was excellent. I will absolutely come back to this restaurant when I visit CR again!
Steven
Steven: Believe the hype and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise Everything here is curated and executed with an immense accuracy The tenderloin steak was a perfect medium and juicy beyond my wildest dreams; potatoes seasoned beautifully Mozzarella empanadas; spinach croquettes, and polenta were appetizers and were all executed beautifully ..empanadas were light fluffy and crispy, croquettes were soft and flavorful while maintaining a crispy exterior We finished with flan, which had lovely dollops of caramel and was fragrant My hat goes off to the chef who brought Argentinian and Costa Rican palettes together at this beautiful spot, highly recommend The waiter was extra amazing and cut and plated everything in half so my wife and I could share everything, thank you <3
Francisco Javier Urra
Francisco Javier Urra: This is probably the best restaurant in Costa Rica. Everything is perfect. Food is amazing. Atmosphere is unbeatable. Service is top notch , with professional waiters that do their work flawless and rapidly, without any exaggeration (old style great waiters). Quality of the products are top. Decoration is like truly being in an old Buenos Aires restaurant. Wine list is amazing. And final bonus, it is located in a true building: that may sound awkward , so let me explain. Most restaurants in Costa Rica are located in shopping plazas, overseeing parking lots. Being myself European, that kills the experience a lot. La Esquina de Buenos Aires is not the case, you walk in , and it’s in an urban environment. So may say downtown San Jose is not the most appealing environment, but for me, not feeling in a US-style shopping “plaza” , it makes definitely a difference.
Mehreen Chaudry
Mehreen Chaudry: Amazing food and amazing service. Our waiter Jeison was incredible. Would recommend and hope to return.

Laine Walsh
Laine Walsh: This was our first restaurant upon arriving to Costa Rica and it was one of the best ones. It made an amazing first impression for us. The food was absolutely outstanding and delicious in every way. It had us hunting for certain dishes throughout the rest of our trip. The waiter was so helpful, kind, and friendly. Anyone in the area should add this restaurant to their itinerary.
Megan Muench
Megan Muench: The amount of food to price ratio is insane! Huge delicious portions of authentic Costa Rican food. Great atmosphere inside and the staff was really nice - even gave us recommendations for the rest of our trip!
Luis V
Luis V: The place is obviously a restaurant for tourists. Prices are not that cheap but the portions are huge. I wish the waiters would have told us the sizes to not waste food ordering a dish per person. At the end, there is a 10% "service fee" that is added to your check and on top of that they ask for tips For 2 persons the total amount was around 85usd
Heather Mina

The shrimp had a slightly past taste like ammonia... Second mouth: octopus carpaccio: yes, well It was very tasty: fresh octopus and ingredients, it looked more like salad than carpaccio... But very good. Overall a nice place.

The Capital Grille: what do users think?
Gonzalo Contreras del Solar
Gonzalo Contreras del Solar: As all other prime restaurants on the Escazú area, this niche restaurant is locate in the main avenue. The ambience is very formal and quiet, so you can have also a meeting with a customer. The wine list is impressive, as well as some of the prices. On the meat side, which is the reason I went, the use Dry aged meat, the taste was good, however it was not as tender as I expected for the pricing they have, similar to NY. The most impressive was the desert, which I don’t regularly have, it had the just amount of sugar with crisp caramel touch, excellent.
Janet Panozzo
Janet Panozzo: The best Vodka/Dirty/Dry/Up Martini with blue cheese stuffed Spanish Olives! Everything is to the highest standards here.

Tomas Zamora: The salad bar is back after the pandemic!!! it is amazing and you can eat more than once for the same price which is amazing. sometimes they have better ingredients and sometimes less but in general it’s always good so it’s the dish i recommend
Taste Traveler
Taste Traveler: Outstanding place for lunch but do sit outside to get intercontinental garden effect Tried a typical dish called Chifrijo (sold under local cazuela típica) My waitress Sandra recommend (also dessert) it to me and she was on point will come back.... went back lol salmon and mango poke bowl 😉
Miguel Benavides
Miguel Benavides: Good service but there is a lot of noise inside because the tables are a bit close and because of the kitchen noises. It lacks a better decoration and distribution of the space to make a more harmonious and comfortable environment.
Sara Azofeifa
Sara Azofeifa: This is one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in San Jose. Not only the quality of the food is great but the service is one of the best. The waiters are very friendly, Danny Calderón recommended me a great wine :) Plus, I believe price is very aligned, you pay for the quality and service received. Overall I would be coming back to this place and would recommend to everyone.
Etienne Rene Clercx
Etienne Rene Clercx: Excellent food for a good price. We enjoyed a burger and the salmon lasagna. Service is a hit and miss. Seems like staff are running all over the place with drinks on one side of the restaurant, POS computers in another, cabinets with sauces/cutlery somewhere else, bread station in another corner, and the kitchen in the back. Affects the service a bit as it hard to waive someone down to order. Staff is very friendly and speak english. Food took some time to arrive but was very good. Burger had everything I ordered (its a build your own system) and was cooked perfectly. The salmon lasagna was also very tasty. A but of an uncomfirtable dish to eat it out of but a minor nuisance when you are hungry :) All in all great experience.

Manuel Zárate Sinfonte: Great for lunch. Roasted corvina was delicious.
gil hahamy
gil hahamy: The concept is great , a salad bar, but they took out all the good stuff , no anchovy, no (limited) pamiggiano reggiano cheese , no fresh fruit , no pastry , poor choice of leftover bread and there is a ton of mosquitos , the price went higher 25% , so not such a great deal . Very limited options to an otherwise great idea.
mahle madikane
mahle madikane: The food qa great. Challenge was language. Not many waiters speak English which caused problems when ordering. For a country that promotes tourism, you would expect that employees in the tourism sector would at least be able to take orders in English.

Andrew Joaquin
Andrew Joaquin: We went for sunset and had a great time. Great views of the city, quiet rooftop with light jazz music, food and drinks were tasty, prices are reasonable, and the servers were attentive. The restaurant has a very Parisian feel with the brick flooring and metal tables. Lots of greenery that attracted parrots. Reservations recommended if you want to watch the sunset. The patio was full if you didn’t have resos. Highly recommended!!
Response: Thank you Andrew! We are glad to know that you had a good experience at Azotea. It is a great way to spend a late afternoon or an evening.
Tara S.
Tara S.: From the atmosphere, staffs, quality of food and drinks. All i can say is this is what a true hospitality and quality meets.
Response: Thank you Tara! We are glad that you enjoyed Azotea Calle 7. Hope to see you back soon!
Алиса Карасик
Алиса Карасик: Overall decent food, good portions and flavor but avoid churros, they were soggy
Response: Thank you for your review. We will let the kitchen staff now, since our churros have always been crispy and delicious.
Richard Cauchi
Richard Cauchi: We discovered this place from hotel reviews, and visited during our first-night stay. Charming, convenient meals, wine and snacks. The atmosphere was a classic pub, with bar, terrace seating and friendly service. Our light late-evening dinner included Ceviche Maracuya, ($7.40 US)) authentic, fresh and tangy; Empanaditas- 2 at $4 US; glass of Malbec and Cabernet ($6.30 each); Sopes ($7). Very convenient as hotel guests but open to all.
Response: Thank you! We are glad that you enjoyed Azotea Calle 7. Please tell your friends about us!
Diego Badilla
Diego Badilla: Prices are a little expensive, however, food quality is good. This is a nice place to go out in San José downtown, quite and private place. No parking available. The menu is to be honest, reduced.Food: 3/5 | Service: 3/5 | Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Response: Hello Diego! Azotea Calle 7 is a small and intimate bar and restaurant. Our menu is designed to accompany our cocktails and many drinks. Our parking place is small and reserved to the guests of our hotel but we have many private parking places in the sorrounding area.
Maggie Macdonald
Maggie Macdonald: What a great find, that is a little hard to find. Beautiful view of the city from up here in a little garden. It was raining so we sat inside, still a really cool space. You hear all the church bells ring at just after 5 it is very cool. If you’re looking for this it’s halfway down the block on the left if your walking from Central Ave towards 2! Enjoy!
Response: Thank you, Maggie. Definitely you can enjoy Azotea whether it rains or shines!

Jake Waters: Great space, drinks, and cocktails!

Kristin Flores
Kristin Flores: The ambiance was great, the food was amazing. The papas bravas were so good. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the potato and veggie sides paired perfectly. I was a little disappointed with how small the flower pot dessert was, next time I’d try something different. Coffee was great! Staff was incredible!
Alisha Maxine
Alisha Maxine: Can’t beat the views. Waiter was awesome and attentive. Great price. Reserve a table so you can have the best seats
Lance Noe
Lance Noe: There for an event. The good was great. The party was even better. It was like a fever dream, but fun!
WJ
WJ: The scenery was so romantic and beautiful. The food was okay. Vegan options were available.
Big Easy Gates
Big Easy Gates: It took an hour to get to the restaurant up in the hills from San Jose but was worth it. The view alone was amazing, you can see all of San Jose at night. The service was impressive and the menu is substantial and very good. It would be good for a romantic dinner but you need to reserve a table by the windows.
Leo Soto
Leo Soto: Great view, good service. Pricy for what it is. Food quality is ok nothing spectacular. Had a churrasco and meat was not as soft as expected.
smaron19
smaron19: What an Amazing experience. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. We got a corner table with a breath taking view and service that was top rated. The ambiance was beautiful. Top Romantic Spot
