DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cariari San Jose - Costa Rica: what do users think?

Descanso Escondido: This place was fantastic. We started and ended our two week vacation here and it was perfection both times. We had 18 people with us and the front staff was able to accommodate all our room requests and helped store our luggage while we picked up rental cars, figured out how to use roof luggage packs, etc. The pool is fantastic, breakfast was delicious, and the hotel has a really great feel to it. They are renovating some spaces but it did not impact us at all. The rooms were very quiet and on our last night we stayed right near the lobby since we had to fly out so early. Both our kids had not trouble sleeping and we barely heard a sound through the walls. Our family really appreciated the separate kiddie pool and outdoor showers. My 7 year old wanted to make sure I also mentioned the delicious cookies that we received upon check-in. They were a hit with out boys. Will definitely stay here again.

Christina N: The hotel, itself, was great. There’s a complimentary breakfast with fried eggs made to order. There’s a fun bar with a lounge—they had karaoke the night we stayed there. While we were having some after dinner drinks, they came by with free beef skewers for everyone in the bar. I think it was excess food from the wedding that was happening in one of the event spaces by the bar. They were delicious. The only problem was our room. It was clean looking but smelled strongly of mold and cleanser. After some time the cleanser smell disappeared and all that was left was this horrible, pungent mold smell. It was impossible to sleep from the smell. We left the next morning as soon as possible. In their defense, we didn’t complain so we gave them no recourse to correct the issue. I wish that we had said something so we could see how they would have responded.

Gennalyn D Christian: We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. We have excellent experience while staying here even though the hotel is kinda old. I loved their tropical hotel set up. The bar and food are great. There is mini casino inside. The jacuzzi is perfect. Also its only 20 minutes away from the airport. There are few walking distance restaurant around and supermarket. The only problem was, because it’s old, the air conditioner was so loud and when I ordered sangria wine I noticed and taste it that the sangria wine was combination of wine and water.

Risalatul Hoque: Very friendly and helpful staff. We travelled as a family and did not come across any issues. It was a pleasure visiting Double Tree Cariari. We were welcomed and upgraded right away upon arrival; parking is across the street in a secured lot. Bar, pool, casino - everything was impressive. Highly recommended.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

J Roche: The restaurant service was excellent from Ramon, Tania and Rolando. They are excellent hard working friendly people. The room service was very good and quick. The hotel needs updates in the shower/bath tubs and shower curtains, and I prefer the hotel when it was painted with a crip white- however it was a good stay overall.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Matthew Jones: I have stayed at this hotel two times and each time is better than the next. The staff in the dining area is extremely friendly and always ready to provide excellent service. I appreciate Tania, Kever and Ramon’s customer service and hospitality. They are kind and very welcoming. Karina and the other chefs are great. They definitely know how to cook. I loved the food. The rooms are very clean. You can’t go wrong when you stay here. PURA VIDA!!

Deneen Cole-Ashbury: We booked a night in San Jose as our flight was string late. I booked thru the app and was able to get exactly what we needed (two adjoining rooms that were accessible). It was perfect. The brunch next morning was great. We enjoyed the facilities at the Double Tree CariCari before checking out and proceeding on with our trip. The hotel offers shuttle pick up at the air port which was great! Check in and check out we’re very easy and the staff amazing!

Radisson San Jose-Costa Rica: what do users think?

Samuel Deese: Good value but some quirks. Nice rooms, good breakfast, reliable WiFi, friendly and helpful team. Some of the lights in my room didn’t work and the climate control didn’t really control anything, was always about 74F. Not a good hotel for walking places, especially at night, plan on getting a cab

MEM: I booked this location because of the high star rating. It wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t a 4.4/5 location. Aesthetically, it feels a lot like a wartime bunker, and our room was very musty. There were black spots in the carpet, which I can only assume were mold. Luckily, we’re not allergy sufferers, but that could certainly complicate life for someone who does suffer from allergies. The staff was helpful, and the breakfast buffet was the highlight, for sure. If you can get a decent rate, a solid place to spend a night on the way in or out of the country.

M CS: I have stayed at this hotel frequently over the years and I continue to return as I have never had a negative experience for the most part. I did not like my room during this last stay but this fact does not take away from years of positive experiences. What I LOVE about this hotel is the service I treatment I receive from the staff. Special shout out to Mayra and Ignacio who were wonderful during my Dec. 2022 visit.

Tom Haynes: Pretty much you get what you expect with this hotel. Fantastically convenient for transfers and overnight stays for moving on into Costa Rica. However, food is pretty standard and there isn’t much of an atmosphere to the hotel. Highlight by a distance is the breakfast staff - all hugely enthusiastic.

Maya Tydykov: Husband and I spent 1 night here during our honeymoon trip to Costa Rica. Pros: Food was delicious. Our dinner and brunch were both excellent quality. For dinner, I had the mushroom risotto for dinner and the blue cheese crème brûlée for dessert. The service was good (albeit a bit slow). The hotel’s main lobby and outdoor areas are very nice and inviting. Cons: Our room was… odd to say the least. Huge, with 2 bathrooms, a separate living room area, and a bedroom. Stains on the carpet. The partially-concrete design of the room was a bit off putting. The light switches didn’t all work properly and one of the lights flickered. The blow dryer in one of the bathrooms didn’t work properly - it emitted distressing noises and a burnt smell, and I saw electricity going around the back part of it. Ended up using the hair dryer in the other bathroom, which worked fine.

Lisa Katharina Holzinger: We stayed there for one night and honestly the pictures we saw on Booking didn’t fulfill our expectations.. this hotel has been a 5 star hotel 30 years ago probably and that’s how it smells as well The room smelled so musty that even my clothes did still after 3 days The pool was shabby and the breakfast has been very limited The location is fine, staff was friendly and the price was ok.

Fabian Arredondo: My stay at Radisson was great! The room service was well done and climate friendly. The best part for me was starting off the day with breakfast and Alonso treated each meal with remarkable service by giving recommendations and coffee! I would definitely come backRooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Chuc Mason: Amazing atmosphere. Everyone is so friendly and accomodating. This is such a higher level of service after a long drive and being anle to relax in the lit pool under the open sky Thank you all for making me feel at home. Cant wait to come back. Clean! Nice little pool. Perfect. Mattresses wow!!!! Top of the line!

Rick Nale: Beautiful gay Resort. Awesome pool area ,quaint rooms. 2 with AC.Owners very welcoming and responsive . Would recommend better room pictures, I was pleasantly surprised seeing a room in person.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Elizabeth Azevedo: Loved this place and the staff! Fun vibes, caring staff, and all around a lovely stay. What makes this place (on top of being a lovely establishment) was the staff - Brian was charming and so helpful, Aldofo was friendly and made a good drink, and Daniel was sweet and and kind hearted. 10/10 stay here!Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Pa me: The last couple of days of my stay in Costa Rica was just pure bliss, thanks for this hotel. The staffs are amazing! They made you feel welcome and safe and knows how to have fun! Brian in the reception has one of the friendliest vibe and, Oliver from the bar is just so fun to hang with. Pool is cute with the floaties around and music is top notch! I’ll stay here again. (:

Tim Huskins: Very nice. Had lunch by the pool. Server was very polite.

Sleep Inn Hotel Paseo Las Damas: what do users think?

Sean Carpenter: This hotel is very convenient and very well placed. It is downtown near almost everything you will want to visit in this city. There is a casino across the parking lot and a 3 star resturant inside as well. Great walking areas there are parks across the street. Other great food spots very close and a few good souvenir shops in walking distance as well.

Mynor Fiore: I stayed at sleep Inn for a week. I had a very nice time, hotel is very comfy the room was awesome. But the most important thing here is the staff. Thanks so much to Alicia, Lisseth and Rojer. Breakfast delicious loved it. Also everything is near by, within walking distance. Thank you so much the only thing missing transport from airport to hotel. I had transport back to airport the driver was amazing. Otherwise, a dream place.

Mark Shaw: Excellent hotel. Convenient location, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Have been here several times and will continue to book here in n future. Highly recommend.

Rick Nale: Really wonderful hotel in downtown. Close to everything. At least 5 Awesome City parks within walking distance. And a chance to see a section of the Berlin wall thru the fence is close by within the grounds of the Foreign MinistryRooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Gmail User: Very nice location next to historic little city park and buildings. I adore the toilet paper fold — that must be so much work for housekeeping, but it’s really cute.

Danese Grigg: This hotel is excellent. We were here for 11 days in December of 2021. Orlando at the front desk was fantastic, always there for us, whatever we needed. The housekeeping service was wonderful; timely and thorough. The breakfast room where we had free breakfast every day was pleasant and the staff here was also excellent. There is staff outside in the courtyards and parking lot who were always vigilant, making sure all guests were safe day and night. There is a casino next door that connects to the hotel and the Magnolia Restaurant. Room service is available and your food (which is very good) arrives promptly. Everyone who works here is cheerful and helpful at all times and will accommodate all reasonable requests. The guest laundry on the 2nd floor is a real plus. The hotel is just steps away from everything you might want to see in downtown San Jose and surrounding neighborhoods.

Aloft San Jose Hotel, Costa Rica: what do users think?

Cynthia Cadet: Rooms were small but beautiful. Service was good. We left before breakfast, but they offered a mini breakfast to go with yogurt, a muffin, and fruit. Very nice! Location was next to a McDonalds and across the street from a mall. Also, not too far from the airport. The hotel shuttle to the airport was $30 dollars, very expensive considering the distance. If you want anything beyond that you will need a car.

Tricia Hahn Jeter: Really nice place and nice people. Know some Spanish! 🇨🇷 Great buffet and lounge. Location is great too right across the street from the Terazzas Lindora Mall.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Great value, High-tech …More

Frank Marchan: The rooms were clean and comfortable. The employees were very courteous. We had to delay our departure for 3 days because the airline canceled our flight, and the front desk was very helpful allowing us to stay for the additional period.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

A1 Heating: Very nice hotel with friendly staff, definitely recommend this place.

Sharon O: Hotel was great, rooms very comfortable, modern, spacious and clean. The location was really good as across the road from a cinema and shopping mall. Breakfast was good and served until 11am. The reason why I don’t give it a 5 star rating is that at 11:30am we were told we have to leave the restaurant even though we were still having coffee, this did not make sense as people had to walk through the restaurant to access the pool area, so it was not like they were going to lock up the restaurant. They also advertise free tea and coffee yet it was $2 and had to be purchased from a machine. ☹️

Hotel Presidente - San Jose, Costa Rica: what do users think?

Imani Murray: Good experience! Variety for breakfast and overall, a nice stay. We were charged extra for a fourth person in our room which we did not expect, but other than that it was a comfortable stay. There wasn’t anything exceptional, but the property is nice, rooms are clean, staff are helpful, and the amenities are good.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Richard Cauchi: We stayed one night on arrival from the US, based on other favorable reviews. And they are accurate about pleasant, friendly, attentive staff – providing a very comfortable king bed; storing our luggage before and after, and breakfast included. Package price of US $106 was very reasonable. The location is very convenient to 4 worthwhile museums. Their own restaurant, on the 4th floor with an exterior view is a nice resource for arriving guests. A neighborhood note: The hotel entrance is on a narrow side street with nearby construction. Nothing dangerous, just be careful.

Barbara A: 5 stars for the very friendly staff, nice lobby and decoration. The room however wasn’t up to standards: it smelled like humidity, the shower curtain was too short, cleanness wasn’t great either (old band aid on the floor)… overpriced

Nay A: Central location, very friendly staff, nice and charming common areas: exterior, rooftop, lobby etc. The room was disappointing as they did not match the pictures. It was not renovated; smelled like humidity; the fridge was extremely noisy and we had to unplug it to sleep; the bathroom was pretty old with short curtains and overflowing water..

Paul Branson: Great location and nice hotel. Right next to Central Avenue (pedestrian mall) which has tons of shops and restaurants. They have locked areas for cars if you have one and our breakfast was included.

Aurola Holiday Inn San José: what do users think?

Rola Sam: I stayed here for three days and I loved everything about it. The room is very specious and tidy, the bathroom is very clean. The hallway and the surroundings is nice and clean. the best view of the nice buildings and city life. Having a corner room and large window’s lovely views of downtown. Very nice experience: customer service was great , room, location (surrounded by great restaurants and walking distance is a plus) is excellent, close to many museums, places to visit and shops.and the breakfast was great and the swimming pool was quite and clean but a little bit cold .thanks for the wonderful experience, highly recommended!

Stina Börchers: We stayed here for the first two nights of our Costa Rica Trip. The personnel was very nice and helpful and the location is perfect for a short city trip. From the layout the room was nice and it was clean. However, it is an old hotel that overall also smells old. The air in our room smelled a bit moldy and we both avoided to stay in the room except for the night. We didn’t use the pool or gym. I would recommend you to shower in the night or afternoon as there was no warm water in the morning (probably because many people showered at that time).

Renee Anderson: This is not a safe location. I was specifically told to not go one direction because it was unsafe. Not suitable for single travelers or families. There was poor communication regarding the shuttle. I had to find other transportation and was charged for a shuttle I did not know about. I changed my flight to leave the day of check-in instead of staying in this hotel. It was a horrible experience. I was charged for the shuttle and the room. Peace of mind was worth far more than that. Safety: This hotel is not in a safe area. I was specifically told to not go one direction because it was unsafe.

Beverley: I came here from Vancouver with fairly limited Spanish language skills. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area. The staff speak excellent English, and are extremely helpful. The rooms are large and very clean, and the hotel is walking distance to almost everything. I definitely hope to be able to return in the future.

Mark Shaw: This is a nice Holiday Inn for the location. There are cheaper hotel options around downtown San Jose but this offers all normal conveniences and is comfortable. I’ve been to several Holiday Inn locations throughout US and abroad and I do recommend this one as it is clean and has good staff.

Aaisha Butler: My first time in Costa Rica and I’m a loss for words. Not only was my stay amazing but they made sure my birthday was a great one. This establishment spears nothing to make sure you are taken care of. Krisbel, Donier, Alonso, and Daniel are just a few people that help makes this place the amazing place that it is! You need to stay here. My room had a beautiful view of the country both day and night.

Caleb Buswell: Staff are friendly and helpful. Many speak English which made things easier for me. The facility its self is nice and clean. Over all well maintained given the size. I have enjoyed my stay here. Rooms: Rooms were clean and had the expected amenities and technology. The shower was a ceiling spray which I really enjoyed.

Mike Fitzpatrick: Just finished week stay. No maid service till late in day just when you are returning tired. Ran out of food very early on Thursday buffet. Ordered ribs. Got saucer with one small rib and four French fries. Frequent visitor who will never stay again. Back downtown to more convenient hotels.

Ramona Parker: I really enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was so welcoming, from the minute you arrived. The doorman to front desk to the maid service, every person there greeted you and assisted in anyway. The buffet breakfast was awesome. The coffee, ahh so good. Casa 69 San José: what do users think?

Paul: Very polite stuff . I had the reservation only for one night . The room was good for the night . I felt like a little damp but I then through out my visit in Costa Rica I felt the dampness almost in all the places I stayed , I am guessing may be because of the climate condition in December, I am not sure The breakfast area is charming and I loved to sit there in the morning and have the hot breakfast they serve hot . The continental breakfast which contains coffee, tea, fruit cups, bread butter and Jam were free. But they also have hot breakfast option which you can order. I liked the hot breakfast . There is limited parking area and you will have to discuss about the car parking while making the bookings if you are renting car . We reached the hotel at 1 am in the morning and found that the hotel just has 2 parking space , one for the owner and another one we rented ( $10 per day) I stayed for only one night and it I didn’t have much complaints

Andiamo Amigos: Had a great three night stay here. The people are fantastic helpful and friendly but not overwhelming. Nice sized room good breakfast not too expensive. We would recommend and will stay again if we returnRooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

jimnoti: Very quiet place with marvelous staff. From the street it does not look like much but inside its a calm quite oasis Plenty of places to eat near by. Close to attractions, government offices. A surprisingly good location. We will stay there again

Irina Morozova: The hosts treatment was rude and unfriendly. The reception was not truthful and offered the wrong room type, although the room I reserved was available and he choose to give it to another guest who was to arrive the next day. The hotel owner was rude over the phone and conducted himself very unprofessional. I reserved a 20 sq.m room with balcony, tile/marble floor. The room that was provided was 14 sq.m., no balcony and view to a wall. There was a large mirror instead of headboard that kept vibrating whenever the train passed by. The room pictures received during reservation were completely different from the actual room offered. The washroom size was extremely small. This one night stay was a dent in my two weeks vacation.

Joe “Weltbummler”: Amazing and cosy Hotel in San Jose :) very friendly Stuff and the rooms a very clean and comfortable, also the breakfast is very tasty Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More

Rob Weister: This place is a gem. Very good accommodations considering the price, breakfast was the best of our whole vacation. Decor and design is very cool and you can tell quite intentional, not bland and cookie-cutter like a lot of places. Best part was the owners Angel and Cindy! We connected and got to know them a little. The hotel is clearly a labor of love for them and you can feel how much of themselves they put into it. We truly felt like guests in their home as opposed to just customers passing through. The neighborhood seems a little rough at first glance, but we never had any issues or felt unsafe. Parking availability was the only problem. There was a lot next door that was being repainted and repaved while we were there, I hope they get access to it!

Sc Ang: Charming hotel and good breakfast. Great location.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Renata Züger: Very friendly staff, simple but very delicious breakfast with fresh fruits and juice. Very central location, close to Barrio Escalante, which is a nice neighborhood with plenty nice bars! We loved it there and will definitely recommend it!Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Olivia Gervacio Jakabosky: Wonderful experience at Casa 69! The breakfast is very yummy and the hotel is very clean. There is an upstairs balcony that has a beautiful view of the mountains surrounding San Jose. The hotel is a bit hidden and there is not much advertising in the surrounding area which made it hard for our taxi driver, but the privacy is really nice in the bustling city. As for local restaurants to grab dinner/food, no cab is needed! We walked to El Jardín de Lolita which was a less than 5 min walk. Would come again!

Mark ter Marsch: This week we visited Hotel Santo Tomas for the second time. It remains a haven of peace in the San Jose jungle. Alexis Kapanek: Honestly, thank GOD for this place. My fiancé and I initially booked a different hotel and when we arrived it was FILTHY. We left immediately and luckily found Hotel Santo Tomás, the owner (Tom) is such a charismatic, helpful, and friendly man. Our nerves were fried after a day of travel with bad luck and we instantly felt calmer as he told us he would take care of everything and did. Found us a beautiful and spotless room, with THE MOST comfortable bed and lovely hot shower; the hotel itself has a regal colonial feel while still being cozy, offers a delicious free breakfast, a beautiful pool (with water slide!!) a hot tub with glorious jets, plenty of beautiful outdoor common areas for me to work (I work online), excellent/complimentary wifi, and the FRIENDLIEST staff. They helped us with wonderful recommendations for everything to see and do while in San Jose (which made such a difference in our experience) and most importantly for me, everything was super super clean! Can’t say enough about this place. We will be back!

John Raven: Excellent jacuzzi, slide, pool combo. Central. Nice people. Not sure about the chicken sausage at breakfast.

Jennifer McMillen: Really great quiet hotel. Room was clean, shower was ample, courtyards are beautiful, breakfast was good, and if we had more time, it would have been nice to enjoy the pool or utilize the wellness and spa opportunities. Only complaint would be that the pillows could be upgraded, but I slept great!

Alla C: I love this hotel. Lovely decorated room, clean bathroom. Bed is comfy. Garden was very inviting, unfortunately I have not stayed long enough to enjoy it. Huge choice for breakfast. Guys working in there are doing exceptional jobs. I would recommend everyone who considers staying there.

LAFOTODENATALIE Houston: I stayed there 2 nights, before and after the flight to US. I was so glad that I have picked the hotel. I took advantage of the free airport shuttle. I liked the garden full of exotic trees and plants. It looked like a mini botanical garden and I found it very impressive. When I was using one of those bars located inside the hotel, I was enjoying the view of the garden. Besides, that bar had a live music in the evening! The rooms were outdated but clean , the bed was comfortable. I had a view on the garden and city of San Jose. I did not like that I have never received a wake up call, however , I requested it as soon as I checked in. I was lucky that I woke up without the wake up call and did not miss the flight. The hotel was good for the price.

Johan Palm: We are happy with our stay, the hotel is located closely to the airport. Nice and clean room with everything you can wish for. The staff was helpful. The pool was a bit cold for my taste. The restaurant by the pool was fantastic!

Nigel Van de Velde: When staying in San Jose just for the day (waiting on our flight back home in the late afternoon), we called the hotel to check if there were possibilities for a day-pass to enjoy the pools etc., without booking a night which was not needed for us. On the phone, the person was very rude to us; when we did not fully understand what he was saying due to the accent, and we friendly requested to repeat what he said, he simply replied “NO, do you understand THAT?!” in a very condescending manner. It looked like a very nice hotel, unfortunately the service we experienced was simply not good.

Hamza Nazir: Jean was very helpful and went above and beyond. The rest of the staff were alright as well. The view was decent from the second floor. I asked for a higher floor and the first staff member lied to me that they were doing renovations and that the other floors were closed. But I could see that people were staying on the other floors. Jean told me the truth that the other floors were reserved for some event.

Elena SW: The most beautiful hotel garden..! The rooms also have wonderful view. Some pieces of furniture , however, need to be upgraded. Breakfast was ok, but there was not any kind of chocolate -even in pancakes and croissants (which is a common breakfast in Europe). The pineapple 🍍 was the best i ve ever had in my entire life !

Julia Kaczmarczyk: Pretty nice hotel with big rooms and comfortable beds. Not the newest building but well maintained. Breakfast was not bad. The location is quiet as are the rooms.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More

Michelle S.: Wonderful place to stay! Only stayed one night before taking my return flight home…wish I knew about it earlier as I would have planned days to visit San Jose and stay at Barcelo San Jose!!. Great beds, clean bathroom, and pretty roomy. I even had a nice city view from my 6th floor room. I didn’t get a chance to roam the grounds much but looks nice and inviting from where I can see. Of my week here in Costa Rica… visiting Manuel Antonio and LaFortuna this stop was definitely the most comfortable of hotels. Make your stop here before venturing out to the rest of the country!

Gal Anziska: way overpriced. they offered me an airport shuttle which never arrived. they then double charged me for my room and now are not honouring the original amount. food way overpriced, lite dinner for 1 cost me 45 USD.Rooms: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 2/5 …More

Hotel and Casino Taormina San Jose: what do users think?

Mark Flierl: Their laundry service is a total ripoff. They charge 5 US dollars for a tee shirt. The rooms are also very noisy. If your a smoker, the only place to smoke is the sidewalk. You will be constantly hasseled by bums.

Andre Menezes: Great place. Not for families! The staff were friendly and helpful.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Bob Costa: The new bar is the best designed one in Costa Rica

Sam Hernandez: Nice and cozy hotel. You can see they have to tried to make modern updates. Casino was a good time and the bar had plenty of eye candy!! Location great as well. All the food I had from the restaurant to the bar was excellent!! No complaints from at all for this hotel.

Peter Figueras: I stayed here in April what a bad decision. The first night I got there at three in the morning I had one of the staff members try to open my door. When I had called down to the front desk they apologized and said that they had sent the staff up to the wrong room. I was fine with it because I know everyone makes mistakes. This was just the beginning however. Most of the staff was really pleasant to deal with. There was one front desk lady that was completely and utterly disrespectful and rude. I stayed there for almost two weeks in total. Items were missing from my room from some staff members presumably taking them. When I got back to the states I had discovered that they had defrauded my credit card for $130. The money means nothing to me the principle of them stealing from me is what bothers me. Do yourself a favor and find another place in San Jose if you want to have a no hassle no problem stay.

Gran Hotel Costa Rica, Curio Collection by Hilton: what do users think?

Jason Lee: Good location in the heart of downtown. The 4 star was because of our experience at the hotel restaurant where the waiter tricked us into believing that the 10% service charge added to the bill is mandated by the government, just like the 13% tax. Being oblivious to this, we ended up paying double as tip for the service. The room is nice so are the amenities. Just that the integrity of the restaurant waiter could be improved. We would have paid equally as much for tip if he had been honest to us.

Dominique: I stayed at the hotel for one night and enjoyed the short stay very much. The room was very pretty. The gym is small but has everything you need. The breakfast room is very nice and the food selection is great. The lobby is very fancy and large, it has lots of places to sit. The staff is very friendly.

iBang: The hotel is in prime location. You step out of the hotel and you are in busy section of the old downtown. The central market is within 10 minutes walking distance. The room was clean and nicely decorated with mirror and lightning. The included breakfast was nice. The service specially the door man at the lobby was courteous and helpful. However there were two negatives. First expect to pay $28 for parking. Second the TV in the room are not smart TVs. No YouTube, Netflix ... Just Spanish speaking channels and the video quality was really bad.

Bryan Hix: We did not have a good experience here for our last night of 9 night in CR. The room was loud, we literally heard all kinds of sounds through out the hotel. 1 of 2 of our rooms were not ready on check in. The Happy Hour they said was available was not. We sat there for 3 hours since it was raining outside and they didn’t offer us anything or even knock a beer off our bill. We definitely wouldn’t stay here again and wished we would have just gone back to the Marriott near the airport. Much nicer.

Rhonda Warner: Great location. Best hotel in town. Stayed at room next to where President Kennedy stayed. View of courtyard and historic theater. We ate there and was a lovely meal. Very clean safe and welcoming.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Noily Alpizar: I visited the breakfast buffet with some friends, such a good quality and lots of options. Open from 7-10am. There’s was a 2x1 offer to eat 2 people. Good price for everything we ate. The place is the 5th floor so great view of the city.

V R Ganesh: Excellent hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in December. Great location. Excellent staff and a fantastic breakfast. Very special people work here..Johanna in the front desk, Sal in the breakfast area, Wenseslabo for dinner and Roy in the bar. Highly recommend. 10/10.

s j: This hotel is as grand as its name. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to most attractions. The national theater is across the square and is a must see, take the tour if possible. From the time you enter this hotel you are take into a beautiful mix of old world and modern elegance. The hotel is beautifully decorated, designed and importantly very clean. I stayed on the 4th floor, JFK had stayed on this floor and some of the exhibits from his visit are there on display. The elevator is glass and need a key card for use, access is restricted for safety. Room- the room was spacious, clean comfortable and elegant with plush carpeting. I had a street view, and there were double windows which kept out the noise. The bathroom was large, modern and I enjoyed the rainfall shower. The 5th floor dining room had floor to ceiling windows with excellent views of the city and wrapped the building. The breakfast buffet was large with many options and was included with my stay. All of the staff I met were friendly, helpful, professional and seemed happy in their jobs. However I would love to give a special thank you to Anthony, the bellman who was so welcoming, kind and helpful. You are an asset to the hotel and I hope they are aware. This trip was to uplift my spirits after the pandemic and thanks for helping. This is my first stay in the Curio collection and it definitely will not be my last. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visting San Jose, you wont be disappointed. .

Hotel Balmoral: what do users think?

A: It was clean but the room smelled like mold. My friend and I were hit with a wave of it when coming in. The toilet didn’t flush. The room keys didn’t work. This hotel is not cheap compared to others and for the price there shouldn’t be this many issues. The restaurant downstairs is nice though. Beds are not comfortable but are clean.Rooms: 2/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Brenda Otterson: Hectic inner city location, but suddenly quiet for the night by about 9:00! Lovely restaurant and meeting room, older but nice room.Rooms: 5/5 …More

Brian Reinfandt: The room was very clean. Breakfast was good. All the staff I encountered were very professional and courteous. Astrid at the front desk was very helpful with everything I needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Everything is very close that you can walk to. The room had a microwave and a large cold refrigerator. Have to keep them beers cold.🍺

Super Dave: Great experience. Hotel has parking and is in the center of downtown San Jose, walking distance to many casinos, restaurants and other entertainment. The hotel itself was clean, very safe, and great customer service.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Sunali Sandal: DO NOT STAY HERE. They have bed bugs and did nothing about it. Will not even pay for the cleaning and exterminating. Worse experience ever. It is not 1 star hotel and I would say it lower if I could.Rooms: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 3/5 …More

Darlene Swan: Location, fabulous! Service friendly, rooms very cleanNearby activities: Very close to beautiful parks, and a vibrant centy centerRooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

Emily Lin: We stayed here for a day before our overnight flight back home. 5/5 for The exceptional front desk and service members who were all so kind and very helpful everything from researching whether Covid testing was available from the hotel to helping us store luggage until our room was ready. I am not sure whether all the rooms were like ours, but our room was definitely in need of an update. There was mold all over the bathroom shower, shower head, sink and the sink drain was open and you could see sludge in the drain. We were hoping to shower prior to our flight but given the condition of the bathroom we did not. Otherwise, the hotel was in a convenient location and worked out for us to store luggage for the day.

MICHAEL SUTER: Very nice hotel with helpful staff. Helped us get our lost luggage back. Updated rooms , good restaurant. Bathrooms kind of small. Not in the best area , but felt very secure in this property
