San José Central Market: what do users think?

Ruth Truluck: If you are in San Jose, this is a must visit! It can be overwhelming but the sights, sounds and smells completely fill the senses. I loved every moment we were there and got some very beautiful shots of the mounds of spices, herbs, fish markets, pet stores, leather goods, and colorful trinkets displayed, to name just a few. Get your bearings before you go in because it is easy to get lost.

Casey Bricker: Pretty awesome place, winding maze full of vendors and souvenir shops downtown. Reasonable prices if you look in the right places, tons of window shops for food! A mix of locals and tourists. Highly recommend the cafe central for coffee to take home!

David Behbahani: You want the crazy Costa Rica atmosphere with food, clothes, vendors, groceries, etc? Then this is the place for you. Parking is gonna be absolutely crazy so find a spot either nearby or walk here If close by. Good food and great selection of items.

Lulu Sassafras: This lovely market is a MUST EXPERIENCE if you want true cultural immersion, while finding the BEST deals on fresh seafood, fish, cheeses, herbs, flowers, vegetables, and hand-crafted souvenirs! Some vendors are fluent English-speakers while most speak very little English, but you will fine with hand gestures and smiles. :) All are very helpful and friendly. Stop at one of the sodas, little “quick foods” restaurants offering local dishes, for a snack or meal, before continuing on. When finished with the market, step outside and meander through all the streets. There are also many more shops, bakeries, and vendors all selling their goods. IMPORTANT: Some local residents advised us to leave the area well before dark as it can become little unsafe.

Mohsen Aminipour: This 140+years bustling old market is absolutely a must see place. It is centrally located at the heart of San Jose city. One can say this is a cultural landmark site. You can easily kill a few hours, walking through the narrow pathways of the old market place, buying souvenirs and variety of fresh produce, and meat, herbal medicines, or perhaps trying some of the best traditional Costa Rica’s seafood, along with the locals. The restaurants are for wide range of food from rice and beans to seafood soup, and of course the infamous ceviche.

Rola Sam: Visiting San José Central Market and spending at least an hour or two in this place like seeing the country ,there is nothing better than picking fresh seasonal fruit and veg from this market ,fresh produce, clothes and household items . Great food, people and vibe and great colorful local market selling all sorts of goods , to general Knick knacks and souvenirs. Worth a visit just to check out and get a feel of what the locals eat and shop for.The shops are unique, everyone is super friendly and I would absolutely come back here.

Travel Lexx: An awesome experience in the heart of San Jose. From fresh produce to great places to eat, this is as authentic as it gets. We really enjoyed mingling with locals and enjoying some traditional casados and exploring the market

Municipal Crafts Market: what do users think?

John Kap: All the souvenir shops in one place. Nice products, friendly people ,little bargain and you buy !Very close to the Plaza de la cultura.

Caleb Buswell: There are a lot of hidden gems in the shops if you know what your looking for.It was a pleasant experience even as a touristEveryone is helpful and friendly. Not overly pushy.

Arthur Sosa Jr.: Very cool little place with very many little shops each with individual owners. Many of the products for sale are actually made by the owners. Also these are all locally owned and sourced products from the local community. Si the money earned from the sales help the local community.

Haifa Machatt: I bought coffee and chocolate. And then the following day realized that I have been sold for almost double the price!

Damini Delisle: Great Place to buy souvenir in Costa rica. Great variety of products available here. They accept Dollars. you can try to haggle a bit.

Akshay Bhole: Excellent local arts and crafts market with plenty of things to explore, discover and shop for souvenirs. The shopkeepers are pleasant and courteous. After having browsed souvenir shops in other towns in the country we realized the prices here are reasonable in comparison

Daniel Medina: This is the best place to get local souvenirs, most of them are handcrafted, you can also find shirts, coffee and a huge variety of souvenirs.

PriceSmart: what do users think?

JDS: The location is great , the store is very well organized. Lots of choices. This is not too busy as the rest price smart. Parking is great!

Jose Gomez: There is always something new. Good option to get good deals.

Michael Wurm: PriceSmart is a great place to do your shopping. They are as always reliable and carry high quality goods. It’s good to sign up for a membership as only then you can do your shopping there. Their staff is well trained and also always very professional and customer oriented. Therefore thumbs up to PriceSmart!

Ron Mendelson: Shopping in store is usually pretty good. Shopping online however is another story. They somehow find ways to have errors in your order missing items, spoiled items, incorrect items, etc. The problem with that is there is no way to reach anyone to have the error fixed. This part of their service I would rate a ZERO. Best to avoid their online shopping service as the incompetence of the employees they have working in that dept. is a glaring example of how not to treat your customers.

Pura Vida Home Inspections: I love PriceSmart. I of course wish it was bigger!

Jannet Vargas Gomez: Good for buying quantity and also I may say quality, but once you find something you want you need to get it since it may not come back again

Auto Mercado Guayabos: what do users think?

Jorge Corrales: Best supermarket in Costa Rica. Excellent products and attention. The Best thing they have is the staff. Auto mercado es mi lugar. 😉

alvaro bravo: Look no more, this is it. By far the best supermarkets in Costa Rica. The service, the quality, the variety and every cashier open always. A bit more expensive, but definately worth it. 1st place and miles ahead of the rest. Pure satisfaction.

Jeanin Desanti: Nice place for goceries. Good parking lot. Safe place.

Guilberth Bermudez: Nice new Auto, great location, this Automercado is as most others, a little bit fancier and upscale than other supermarkets because of their imported good quality products.

Mario Duran Ortiz: Best AutoMercado in the area. Another plus is the charging station for EVs.

Jose Daniel Sanchez: Convenient and close to home!

Ileana Larios: Excellence service, clean place, and great customer service, found everything I was looking for

cosmel villalobos: Brand new Auto Mercado looks great and has easy way in and out. Excellent service

Marypaz Hernández: A great place to go grocery shopping. I love it !

Auto Mercado -Moravia: what do users think?

David & Christina: It is what it is. Nice clean place, and large variety of products, might be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for

Oliver Wals: Best supermercado ever Seen in Costa rica

Jose Carranza: Best grocery shopping experience in the country, as all locals.

joe hanus: They still pack your items in a bag. You may have to purchase a bag but they will help pack it.

Michael Wurm: What can I say about Auto Mercado, other than there is no question that it is always a good choice to stop and do your grocery shopping there. You will find a highly trained and very professional staff and a broad range of high quality products there. OK, they are not a least cost supplier, but we always stop at Auto Mercado, when we are in the Central Valley because it’s good to shop there and we love their reliability! Thumbs up to Auto Mercado Moravia 👍🏻

Sil GO: The parking lot is full very often so you have to round it a few times until someone leaves a spot available, otherwise great service

Fernando A. Cervantes: Always have options and different items not often available in other places, and the customer service is excellent

Richard Brier: It has almost everything I like, no need togo to other places As of my last 2 visits this Auto Mercado has gone down hill very fast, selection of products no longer exsits over 20 products (different Items) are no longer available. miss pricing is no longer a rareity. I now have to go to other to as many as 3 different places to purchase the things I need or want. If this place keeps on its down hill trend I will no longer be a regular client.

B S V: This is one of the main food market chains in Costa Rica, they are located all throughout the country as far as I know, and enthey carries a large stock of national and international brands it is always well stocked lot and very clean the staff is always very attentive and helpful to help find anything or answer questions, one may have.

Richard Brier: Great service,, excellent choice of products. However does not carry all products I use I like any more, making it necessary to shop at another store.

Auto Mercado Tres Ríos: what do users think?

Fernanda Ruiz: It sucks that such a cool place we used to love to go is not pet friendly. Guys it’s almost 2023

Andrew Whitehead: Firstly avoid this store as it has the most rude guards of all the Auto Mercado stores. The experience borders on harrassment and is serious enough to make the entire visit unpleasant. I personally prefer the longer drive to Guayabos. The quality and selection has gone down rapidly in the past two years. There are less items of interest on Dia del Campo, Fin de Semana and the much reduced discounts don’t often make it worthwhile shopping unless it’s your nearest store. Auto Mercado seems to have a new buyer, and a much worse one. Hardly any British products (apart from whisky) but a mountain of other European products, mainly from Germany and Italy. They need more British beers and cheese etc. and definitely top end whiskies again. It gives me impression that there is some kind of monopoly buyer for most of Costa Rica as a lot of products have disappeared from all supermarkets. Hopefully with a new government these issues will finally be changed!

Israel Bitran: A delightful supermarket, great meat department. Pricey, but best supermarket in town.Make sure to get a auto mercado shopping card for discounts.

Juan Pablo Zawadzki: This is a supermarket with very good local and international variety, where you have a very good wines and liquors selection, great delicatessens and more. Atmosphere is also very nice, not feeling the typical rushy environment of supermarkets like Walmart. A little pricey tho...

Luis Manuel Espinoza: I have no doubt that Automercado is one of the best supermarkets in Costa Rica based on the origin, wide range and exceptional quality of the products it offers, but also you must consider that its prices are not the lowest in the market compared to other local supermarkets.

Jeanin Desanti: Cheese, wine all you want. Is easy to park cars.

Alex cr87: Excelent service, good variety of products. Great choice to shop everyday if you can afford it
