Matthew Smith: We stopped here on our first night in San Jose. The wait staff was welcoming and able to understand our broken Spanish (and help us in English). I have a gluten allergy and our server helped me find options on the menu. We ordered multiple courses and I found the pacing to be relaxed, but not slow. Perfect to savor the food and atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend Limoncello for great Italian style food in San José. Especially for those looking for gluten free options.

Richard Blaser: Limoncello is spot on for food/price/service. They also have private dining rooms upstairs for meetings and such. The staff is extremely attentive and the food is delicious. They also offer gluten free options and will be very accommodating if you wish to change things about your meal.

Andrew Joaquin: We went for sunset and had a great time. Great views of the city, quiet rooftop with light jazz music, food and drinks were tasty, prices are reasonable, and the servers were attentive. The restaurant has a very Parisian feel with the brick flooring and metal tables. Lots of greenery that attracted parrots. Reservations recommended if you want to watch the sunset. The patio was full if you didn’t have resos. Highly recommended!!

Richard Cauchi: We discovered this place from hotel reviews, and visited during our first-night stay. Charming, convenient meals, wine and snacks. The atmosphere was a classic pub, with bar, terrace seating and friendly service. Our light late-evening dinner included Ceviche Maracuya, ($7.40 US)) authentic, fresh and tangy; Empanaditas- 2 at $4 US; glass of Malbec and Cabernet ($6.30 each); Sopes ($7). Very convenient as hotel guests but open to all.

Response: Hello Diego! Azotea Calle 7 is a small and intimate bar and restaurant. Our menu is designed to accompany our cocktails and many drinks. Our parking place is small and reserved to the guests of our hotel but we have many private parking places in the sorrounding area.
Maggie Macdonald: What a great find, that is a little hard to find. Beautiful view of the city from up here in a little garden. It was raining so we sat inside, still a really cool space. You hear all the church bells ring at just after 5 it is very cool. If you’re looking for this it’s halfway down the block on the left if your walking from Central Ave towards 2! Enjoy!

Andre: I really enjoyed having an afternoon lunch here. There was a wide variety of tapas dishes to choose from. They also have daily meal specials which includes an choice of appetizers, choice of entree, drink, dessert, and coffee for 7,000 colones or about $10. I did the lunch meal special and it was great. The service was excellent and very attentive. I was given the option to sit inside or outside. Small thing such as 2 sets of silverware were a nice surprise, one for the appetizer and one for the entree. The bill was promptly brought when asked. I would absolutely return.

Augusto Granados: The best Mediterranean Restaurant in the area, the food is great, in this case the slow-cooked short rib was juicy, full of flavor and tender, exceptionally tender, the shrimp, rice and vegetables in soy sauce were fresh and so easy on your stomach they were just a pleasure to eat. I also had the Estrella Galicia beer to accompany the meal, it was quite refreshing however still full of taste and hoppy notes. I am quite glad to be able to enjoy again this restaurant, it is one of the few I can visit over and over again in the area.

Ivelise Rodriguez: The place has a good atmosphere…for drinks and maybe appetizers. However the service was not good, food was delivered uncooked, each plate arrived 5 minutes in difference…the skirt steak was really good but a small portion for about $40! I hope this review helps them improve because the place is truly cute.

lucía santiago: Food was amazing, great taste and variety of flavours. Everything we had was delicious. From what the waiter told us, everything is intended to share, but the small plates are just too small (and delicious) to do so. Service and ambience was nice. Cocktail menu is weak, 3 out of 6 options had vodka, tried the mule, and it was just ok. It is expensive, but I believe the quality of the food made it worth it.

Alvertos Revach: What an amazing place! An antique shop that doubles as a gourmet restaurant, with excellent food, tapas style. Prices are about 6,500 CRC per plate, and the plates we tried were all amazing, and their presentation was fantastic. I loved the ambiance too, the inner garden was perfect for lunch. Highly recommended!

Alejandra Urdaneta: Absolutely incredible experience. And I say experience, because everything about this place is noteworthy. From having to adventure through a few antiques and wooden elephants (probably originated from an intriguing place in Asia) to get to the table, to dining among buddha-like sculptures, this is most definitely an adventure. The food is mouthwatering, and perfectly executed and paired with expertly matched wines. We ordered the tasting menu, and everything about it was to die for. I especially liked the scallops wrapped in prosciutto, the rabbit with gorgonzola gnocchis, the snapper cooked à la papillon, and the fondant with coffee ice cream. If you’re ever in San José, this place is a must!
Jonathan Lambert: The food is exquisite and prepared with a keen eye for presentation so the courses look as good as they taste. Every course came with its own wine which were generally very well matched to the food. The place is intimate and beautiful and the service superb. Without doubt one of the finest restaurants in Costa Rica. I highly recommend it, especially for a romantic dinner to celebrate a special occasion .
Anna Babitsky: Excellent food by Michelin star chef. We ordered five dishes and got the sixth on the house. The service was impeccable and we felt like special guests in this amazing setting among beautiful antiques. Definitely an evening to remember and we will be back next time we are in town.
Matthew Daly: What an epic food adventure to close out our Costa Rica trip. Richard (the chef) and his team put more care and effort into the details of their food and dining experience than you will find probably anywhere in the entire country. Wife and I did the ‘Degustation’ menu (pre-fixed) and it was incredible, we loved every dish. Do be careful to let them know WHY if you decide to pass on anything, I noticed a lot of genuine concern when I only drank half my first cocktail. Had to let them know we ordered cocktails before knowing we’d be getting drinks with every course. The staff were superb and I even had a great conversation with Louise, who runs the art in the Cafe about the pieces on display. Will tell friends back home about this place, can’t be missed.
Samir T. Patel: One of the best places I’ve ever eaten at. Love the decor and ambiance. The owner is great and the food was terrific. Ask the chef/server to just pick your tapas for you — recommend 2-3 plates per person. You must coordinate reservations ahead of time.

Deyna Bonilla: Is not bad, but is not good, you have to wait a lot to enter some games, and sometimes the security in the games is not that great. The food is really expensive and not that good, is better to bring your own food. Sometimes wet people will sit next to you making your clothes get wet as well. But over all is not a bad place to go from time to time when you want to experience something different with friends or kids.

My entree of beef in malbec reduction with potato gratin was delicious! Finished off with flan and decaf coffee. We went back for a second time during our short trip. Our group shared mussels, empanadas, ensalada primavera, sopa pumpkin, Lomita en Bernese sauce, blood sausage. Chocolate mousse with walnuts for dessert. Be certain to request whipped cream with the mousse. All delicious! Highly recommend.

Francisco Javier Urra: This is probably the best restaurant in Costa Rica. Everything is perfect. Food is amazing. Atmosphere is unbeatable. Service is top notch , with professional waiters that do their work flawless and rapidly, without any exaggeration (old style great waiters). Quality of the products are top. Decoration is like truly being in an old Buenos Aires restaurant. Wine list is amazing. And final bonus, it is located in a true building: that may sound awkward , so let me explain. Most restaurants in Costa Rica are located in shopping plazas, overseeing parking lots. Being myself European, that kills the experience a lot. La Esquina de Buenos Aires is not the case, you walk in , and it’s in an urban environment. So may say downtown San Jose is not the most appealing environment, but for me, not feeling in a US-style shopping “plaza” , it makes definitely a difference.

John Shook: My wife and I stayed ten days. The place is nice but the bed was very firm. The food is good but a bit pricey. The place is clean and secure but we did have a morning where the alarms blared waking us up early in the morning. The announcement was only in Spanish so we had no idea what was happening. We immediately got dressed and went down 29 floors only to be told that it was a false alarm. We felt like idiots as we seemed to be the only ones leaving the place We go back to our room and the alarm continues to go off. God forbid something serious happens in this hotel as the staff seemed utterly unconcerned during this situation.

Laine Walsh: This was our first restaurant upon arriving to Costa Rica and it was one of the best ones. It made an amazing first impression for us. The food was absolutely outstanding and delicious in every way. It had us hunting for certain dishes throughout the rest of our trip. The waiter was so helpful, kind, and friendly. Anyone in the area should add this restaurant to their itinerary.
Megan Muench: The amount of food to price ratio is insane! Huge delicious portions of authentic Costa Rican food. Great atmosphere inside and the staff was really nice - even gave us recommendations for the rest of our trip!
Luis V: The place is obviously a restaurant for tourists. Prices are not that cheap but the portions are huge. I wish the waiters would have told us the sizes to not waste food ordering a dish per person. At the end, there is a 10% "service fee" that is added to your check and on top of that they ask for tips For 2 persons the total amount was around 85usd

Brian Ipock: The restaurant and team here highlight the best parts of Costa Rica and its bountiful ingredients at Sikwa. Every dish in the 5 course menu had balanced and complex flavors, complementing the natural ingredients sourced throughout the country. It was a wonderful experience and you could taste the pride in costa rica and its cuisine.
Timo Behrend: We weren’t disappointed in this restaurant. The food was authentic and delicious. The drinks had a nice twist as well. Make sure to book ahead as the place fills up quickly.

Peter Berkers: With an organised trip i went to Costa Rica. For our last evening we had chosen to eat local Costa Rican Food. A travel guide adviced Sikwa Restaurante when you would like to eat local Costa Rican dishes in San José. With a group of 13 we went to Sikwa and it was a nice evening. The food was delicious and the waiters were super friendly and advised their favorite dishes of the menu and answered all our questions about the food. I had chosen de Pejibaye tamale and for desert the purple corn flan. I tasted different local flavours and the composition of the food on the plates was nice. After dinner the tourleader asked for a nice and safe place to go out on that Saturday evening. And they advised Antik. That was a good and safe location with good music and atmosphere.

Jay Frank: Went here for dinner because a colleague recommended this place.....and now I fully understand why. The dining room was fully booked so we sat at the bar. Jorge and Jerry at the bar to excellent care of us. Gave good menu and drink recommendations. Both great ambassadors for the restaurant! It is not a cheap place but absolutely quality food and drinks! Highly recommend this place.

Irene Urena: I’ve been coming to this place since they open and it is a wonderful surprise that they’re still as good and keep the menu interesting. Beautiful restaurant and location it is my number one recommendation for friends visiting San Jose. Today a table was getting little rowdy and the manager decided not to sell more alcohol to them, I’ll give them extra points for keeping it classy. Their Goat Milk and Passionfruit Panna Cotta is my all time favorite but food here is very consistent and service is also wonderful.

Their cocktail presentation is second to none, and the quality of drink and food is no different. Can not recommend enough if you’re in the San Jose area. Nick Halverson VSB: Furca is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to, anywhere in the world. The food is amazing - I ordered the prime rib and portobello mushroom sandwich. I love sandwiches - but this is in a different all together. You can taste the quality of ingredients is unparalleled. Every detail has been thought out and planned. From the way the bread is served (along with 3 different spreads) to the way the presentation of the food is done. Exquisite. We discovered it and went there three times in a matter of 2.5 days…and we will be back. Wonderful staff. Reservations are encouraged if dining after 7 pm. Get there earlier without a reservation.

The complimentary range of breads were all delicious. Our mains were both outstanding. We got Picanha and my favourite of the night duck and caramelised onions confit. Charlie Chou: This is one of the most signature steakhouse in San Jose area and we have visited several times before it’s remodeling The food used to be decent with a nice services and fair price , however after this recent visit I am surprised with the appetizer price .. here is an example , each sausage costs 6 dollar and 10 dollar for 5 slice of onion rings …. I don’t mind paying the money for the quality but I didn’t find anything amazing during the appertained course The main course is boring and didn’t feel the heat from a decent steak , in fact since the aircondition was so strong , perhaps they should heat up the plates so it maintains the flavor of the steak longer With so many competitions in Escazú area now , they should try to level up their game especially after shutting down for so long and trying tp make their reputation back
