InterContinental Costa Rica at Multiplaza Mall, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?

Savannah Hutson: The hotel and the grounds are beautiful. I came after Christmas for the new year and it’s been a great experience. However, the reception staff could try harder to explain things and not be so nonchalant about things. Make a better effort and try to be more accommodating!Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 3/5 …More

Suzanne Roberts: Staff were very helpful and professional. First room I was assigned was not made up; this was quickly corrected. Nice breakfast buffet (also an a la carte menu). Bar area can get quite noisy - request a room further from the center. In addition to small shop and spa, there is a barber shop and a salon. Room was okay; tub could use a good bleaching, and the floor and stairs of the tub can be slippery...use caution

Christopher Le Jeune: Stayed in the tower with access to the lounge. Nothing to fault, it’s a well maintained intercontinental hotel. Unlike others I had an excellent experience with valet service. What I particularly enjoyed were the 2 outside pools (one heated) and outside jacuzzi, with very long hours (probably they even tolerate 24 hours), for me that’s a first for a hotel. The happy hour with food in the lounge 6-8pm is very good, as is lounge breakfast (way better than intercon Tegucigalpa), lounge staff absolutely tops. If I had to look for “improvements” it would be the Finnish sauna - but this part of the world is not known for saunas so I consider this unimportant. The main restaurants seem to get busy and can be noisy.

Chris: 4 Star hotel masquerading as a 5 star. My main reason for my rating is the valet. I come out in the morning at 5 am to catch a flight. No one was present. I go inside to tell the front desk we are waiting on multiple occasions and finally someone comes out from the dining area of the main restaurant. I present my Amex Biz Platinum card and the gentleman that came out tells me that this is only for Costa Ricans. I informed him that I spoke with the front desk staff the night before and this was not the case. He then tells me that he needs to "go get the machine". Now having waited for 10 minutes already, I told him we will just pay as Intercontinental had already wasted enough time and I had no confidence that they would even return. Of course, no change was available from the valet person so overall I was overcharged. This hotel definitely has hired the "B Team" to work here and it is pretty apparent once you start to attempt to use any services on the property. Pretty much a similar B Team experience with the restaurants as well. The room was fine and updated, but the 4 inch thick down comforter is a bit unnecessary. Prepare to be disappointed if you are familiar with real 5 star hotel services.

Hotel Presidente - San Jose, Costa Rica: what do users think?

Imani Murray: Good experience! Variety for breakfast and overall, a nice stay. We were charged extra for a fourth person in our room which we did not expect, but other than that it was a comfortable stay. There wasn’t anything exceptional, but the property is nice, rooms are clean, staff are helpful, and the amenities are good.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More
Response: Thank you Imani for your kind review. We are glad your stay was pleasant.

Richard Cauchi: We stayed one night on arrival from the US, based on other favorable reviews. And they are accurate about pleasant, friendly, attentive staff – providing a very comfortable king bed; storing our luggage before and after, and breakfast included. Package price of US $106 was very reasonable. The location is very convenient to 4 worthwhile museums. Their own restaurant, on the 4th floor with an exterior view is a nice resource for arriving guests. A neighborhood note: The hotel entrance is on a narrow side street with nearby construction. Nothing dangerous, just be careful.
Response: Thank you Richard for your generous review. We are glad you had a pleasant stay.

Rog Edwards: Nice reception area, tea and coffee, restaurant is good. Breakfast buffet is extensive. Rooms are reasonable. However I go to hotels to sleep and it was not possible in this noisy hotel even with ear plugs. Windows are single glazed and don't fit so street noise is very bad. Also maintenance work in the evening drove us out the room. I'll try somewhere else next time. Walkability: In centre of the city and easy walking to the main sites
Response: Hello Rog! We are sorry that your experience in our hotel did not meet your expectation. We are presently remodeling some of our guestrooms, but work begin past 9:00 am and it ends for the day promptly at 4:00 p.m. Regarding street noise, the CCSS Building two blocks away is also being rebuilt, and they are in the structural part of the work which is the loudest. A few of our rooms may be affected by such loud work, but it should be concluded very soon.

Paul Crawford: The hotel was very nice on the inside. Our room was clean. The window's lock was broken, and our room shared a balcony with another room, so it was a little sketchy in that area. Breakfast was delicious, and the service was fantastic. We were warned not to go outside the hotel after 8 pm, as the area is a bit "dangerous."Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 3/5 …More
Response: Thank you Paul for your review. Did you report the broken lock to our staff?

Zuleyka Bravo: I highly recommend this hotel, all the people who work there are very friendly and professional, it is located in the center of San Jose, they have security 24 hours a day. My mom's knee swelled up and she was in a lot of pain and the reception called a doctor who gave her an injection at no extra cost. The hotel facilities have a very nice decoration, the room is very nice and safe.
Response: Thank you Zuleyka for your review. We hope that you're Mom is up and running again. Our staff cares deeply for the well being of our guests and we bend over backwards to make their stay the most pleasant one.

Barbara A: 5 stars for the very friendly staff, nice lobby and decoration. The room however wasn’t up to standards: it smelled like humidity, the shower curtain was too short, cleanness wasn’t great either (old band aid on the floor)… overpriced
Response: Thank you Barbara for taking time in writing this review. We pride ourselves in our cleaning standards, and we are sorry your room was not up to our highest standards as well as yours.

Nay A: Central location, very friendly staff, nice and charming common areas: exterior, rooftop, lobby etc. The room was disappointing as they did not match the pictures. It was not renovated; smelled like humidity; the fridge was extremely noisy and we had to unplug it to sleep; the bathroom was pretty old with short curtains and overflowing water..
Response: Thank you Nay for taking time to write our review. We are sorry that the room did not meet the expectations. We will talk to maintenance to fix the problems inmediately.

Freya Porter: The room was very spacious and clean but unbelievably noisy due to the commotion out on the street. We heard people shouting all day and all night plus vehicles and works. I'd recommend staying somewhere set back from the road so that you do not get woken up at 5am. Also the television had no English/American channels. The hotel itself had very interesting décor and I would recommend eating at their restaurant in the evening as opposed to venturing outside as the area was... dodgy. The restaurant and bar situated on top of the hotel was lovely with a pretty garden terrace and delicious food. The cocktails were reasonably priced and yum. Overall though we would have preferred to stay somewhere else in order to have a quieter room.
Response: Thank you for your review. We are disappointed that your stay was not completely satisfactory. We have been upgrading our windows with soundproof ones. I will look into the room at which you stayed to make the necessary adjustments. The TV service we provide in the room has over 30 channels in English, but sometimes previous guests change the audio which only needs to be restored from the TV menu. We will label the TVs, so our future guests have an easy time switching between languages. Daniel Mikowski

Paul Branson: Great location and nice hotel. Right next to Central Avenue (pedestrian mall) which has tons of shops and restaurants. They have locked areas for cars if you have one and our breakfast was included.
Response: Thank you Paul! We are glad you enjoyed your stay at the Presidente!

Jim Swanson: The service was amazing. Everyone seemed to care about my experience. Of course, there were tip jars everywhere, so that probably helped :-). The lobby was grand. Nice, open space that was well appointed. Sercice at the desk was perfext (and the tip jar was up front.) When I got to the room, there were two beers on ice, a bowl of platanos chips, and a bowl of salsa. That was above and beyond! There was mini fridge and an easy-to-use safe large enough to fit my laptop. As for the facility, not so much. The room was probably the largest one I've stayed in. Had to be at least 20'x20'. But it was virtually empty. Mifht be a great pmace for dance lessons! There was a small TV across the room from the bed, at least 20' away, so it wasn't useful. They had great WIFI so I enjoyed TV on my laptop. There was almost no furniture. There were two uncomfortable padded chairs with a coffee table that set lowered than the chair seats. Glaringly missing was a table one could sit at to eat or play. There was a desk with a chair facing a blank wall with NO outlets. There was one frosted wi dow in the room for ambient light. One could open a small part of it, bur there was no view. Thankfully, the bed was comfortable and had lots of pillows so it was where I spent all of my time in the room. Still, not enough outlets around the bed so I had to unplug the phone's power to plug in my laptop. The complimentary breakfast was reasonably good. They had a buffett with all the fixings for a typical local breakfast with the addition of a few cold cuts and cereal for the tourists. The "sausages" were actually cut up hot dogs each with a varying amount of doneness.

Gran Hotel Costa Rica, Curio Collection by Hilton: what do users think?

Jason Lee: Good location in the heart of downtown. The 4 star was because of our experience at the hotel restaurant where the waiter tricked us into believing that the 10% service charge added to the bill is mandated by the government, just like the 13% tax. Being oblivious to this, we ended up paying double as tip for the service. The room is nice so are the amenities. Just that the integrity of the restaurant waiter could be improved. We would have paid equally as much for tip if he had been honest to us.

Dominique: I stayed at the hotel for one night and enjoyed the short stay very much. The room was very pretty. The gym is small but has everything you need. The breakfast room is very nice and the food selection is great. The lobby is very fancy and large, it has lots of places to sit. The staff is very friendly.

iBang: The hotel is in prime location. You step out of the hotel and you are in busy section of the old downtown. The central market is within 10 minutes walking distance. The room was clean and nicely decorated with mirror and lightning. The included breakfast was nice. The service specially the door man at the lobby was courteous and helpful. However there were two negatives. First expect to pay $28 for parking. Second the TV in the room are not smart TVs. No YouTube, Netflix ... Just Spanish speaking channels and the video quality was really bad.

Adriano Travels: Hotel and rooms decoration are simple but well executed. Nice view from the top floor restaurant and especially cool to enjoy the nice breakfast buffet. Unfortunately the area isn't a good to go shopping but really well located to go to the national theater.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 3/5 …More

Sebastian Elizondo: I went only for a cup of coffee at the restaurant in a quiet relaxing place, but the experience was so much more. I got the recommendation from the American Express Fine Hotels Collection. I was running an errand close by and I had an hour to kill. So I went to the restaurant at the fifth floor of the hotel, even though I was wearing snickers and a Darth Vader t-shirt, I felt welcome from the very first moment. I sat by the window and I was mesmerized by the view, on one side the National Theatre, one of he crown jewels of Costa Rican architecture, in the other side a wonderful view of the mountains surrounding the Central Valley. The service was great, the attention to detail from the personnel and the welcoming atmosphere couldn't be any better.

Bryan Hix: We did not have a good experience here for our last night of 9 night in CR. The room was loud, we literally heard all kinds of sounds through out the hotel. 1 of 2 of our rooms were not ready on check in. The Happy Hour they said was available was not. We sat there for 3 hours since it was raining outside and they didn’t offer us anything or even knock a beer off our bill. We definitely wouldn’t stay here again and wished we would have just gone back to the Marriott near the airport. Much nicer.

Rhonda Warner: Great location. Best hotel in town. Stayed at room next to where President Kennedy stayed. View of courtyard and historic theater. We ate there and was a lovely meal. Very clean safe and welcoming.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Noily Alpizar: I visited the breakfast buffet with some friends, such a good quality and lots of options. Open from 7-10am. There’s was a 2x1 offer to eat 2 people. Good price for everything we ate. The place is the 5th floor so great view of the city.

V R Ganesh: Excellent hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in December. Great location. Excellent staff and a fantastic breakfast. Very special people work here..Johanna in the front desk, Sal in the breakfast area, Wenseslabo for dinner and Roy in the bar. Highly recommend. 10/10.

s j: This hotel is as grand as its name. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to most attractions. The national theater is across the square and is a must see, take the tour if possible. From the time you enter this hotel you are take into a beautiful mix of old world and modern elegance. The hotel is beautifully decorated, designed and importantly very clean. I stayed on the 4th floor, JFK had stayed on this floor and some of the exhibits from his visit are there on display. The elevator is glass and need a key card for use, access is restricted for safety. Room- the room was spacious, clean comfortable and elegant with plush carpeting. I had a street view, and there were double windows which kept out the noise. The bathroom was large, modern and I enjoyed the rainfall shower. The 5th floor dining room had floor to ceiling windows with excellent views of the city and wrapped the building. The breakfast buffet was large with many options and was included with my stay. All of the staff I met were friendly, helpful, professional and seemed happy in their jobs. However I would love to give a special thank you to Anthony, the bellman who was so welcoming, kind and helpful. You are an asset to the hotel and I hope they are aware. This trip was to uplift my spirits after the pandemic and thanks for helping. This is my first stay in the Curio collection and it definitely will not be my last. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visting San Jose, you wont be disappointed. .

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cariari San Jose - Costa Rica: what do users think?

Descanso Escondido: This place was fantastic. We started and ended our two week vacation here and it was perfection both times. We had 18 people with us and the front staff was able to accommodate all our room requests and helped store our luggage while we picked up rental cars, figured out how to use roof luggage packs, etc. The pool is fantastic, breakfast was delicious, and the hotel has a really great feel to it. They are renovating some spaces but it did not impact us at all. The rooms were very quiet and on our last night we stayed right near the lobby since we had to fly out so early. Both our kids had not trouble sleeping and we barely heard a sound through the walls. Our family really appreciated the separate kiddie pool and outdoor showers. My 7 year old wanted to make sure I also mentioned the delicious cookies that we received upon check-in. They were a hit with out boys. Will definitely stay here again.

Christina N: The hotel, itself, was great. There’s a complimentary breakfast with fried eggs made to order. There’s a fun bar with a lounge—they had karaoke the night we stayed there. While we were having some after dinner drinks, they came by with free beef skewers for everyone in the bar. I think it was excess food from the wedding that was happening in one of the event spaces by the bar. They were delicious. The only problem was our room. It was clean looking but smelled strongly of mold and cleanser. After some time the cleanser smell disappeared and all that was left was this horrible, pungent mold smell. It was impossible to sleep from the smell. We left the next morning as soon as possible. In their defense, we didn’t complain so we gave them no recourse to correct the issue. I wish that we had said something so we could see how they would have responded.
Response: Thank you for the review, Christina N. We are glad to hear that you had an overall great experience during your stay with us. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding your room. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared to foster improvements. For this reason, we hope to have the opportunity to deliver a more pleasant experience on a return visit.

Gennalyn D Christian: We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. We have excellent experience while staying here even though the hotel is kinda old. I loved their tropical hotel set up. The bar and food are great. There is mini casino inside. The jacuzzi is perfect. Also its only 20 minutes away from the airport. There are few walking distance restaurant around and supermarket. The only problem was, because it’s old, the air conditioner was so loud and when I ordered sangria wine I noticed and taste it that the sangria wine was combination of wine and water.

Risalatul Hoque: Very friendly and helpful staff. We travelled as a family and did not come across any issues. It was a pleasure visiting Double Tree Cariari. We were welcomed and upgraded right away upon arrival; parking is across the street in a secured lot. Bar, pool, casino - everything was impressive. Highly recommended.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

J Roche: The restaurant service was excellent from Ramon, Tania and Rolando. They are excellent hard working friendly people. The room service was very good and quick. The hotel needs updates in the shower/bath tubs and shower curtains, and I prefer the hotel when it was painted with a crip white- however it was a good stay overall.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Jon and Tiiu: The hotel itself was nice, but the restaurant was a letdown. It has so much potential but focused on presentation over flavour. Food was overly salty and we were charged for a drink we didn't order. The wait for the bill was excessive, as was the updated bill when challenged. Breakfast was not even attempted as the prices were extortionate, we've seen better for half the price elsewhere in Costa Rica.
Response: Hi - We’re very sorry to hear about your experience. We value our guests and strive to provide transparent service, so we're disappointed we fell short here. We would like the opportunity to look into this further. Could you please contact us at https://help.hilton.com/s/contactsupport or call our team at 2209 1000?

Danielle Ahlberg: Not only were the accommodations comfortable, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The appreciation and display of Costa Rican art and culture was beautiful as we're all the impeccably kept gardens filling the hotel. Located close to the airport but not in a high traffic zone made the stay pleasant, especially with prompt shuttle servic. Plus, the warm cookie upon arrival was a lovely surprise.

Tim Stinson: Best Hilton hotel we've stayed at in the past three years. Staff was friendly, courteous and eager to help. Pool and bar area were inviting and the breakfast was the absolute best breakfast we've experienced at any Hilton hotel. The hotel offered a casino and convenience store that were nice to use. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. Highly recommend the San Jose Double Tree Hilton to everyone.

Matthew Jones: I have stayed at this hotel two times and each time is better than the next. The staff in the dining area is extremely friendly and always ready to provide excellent service. I appreciate Tania, Kever and Ramon’s customer service and hospitality. They are kind and very welcoming. Karina and the other chefs are great. They definitely know how to cook. I loved the food. The rooms are very clean. You can’t go wrong when you stay here. PURA VIDA!!

Deneen Cole-Ashbury: We booked a night in San Jose as our flight was string late. I booked thru the app and was able to get exactly what we needed (two adjoining rooms that were accessible). It was perfect. The brunch next morning was great. We enjoyed the facilities at the Double Tree CariCari before checking out and proceeding on with our trip. The hotel offers shuttle pick up at the air port which was great! Check in and check out we’re very easy and the staff amazing!

Sheraton San Jose Hotel: what do users think?

Nicolette Douglas: Great hotel. Rooms are updated and modern. Breakfast is dynamite! Everything you could want and more. Employees are top notch, and hospitable. Absolutely no complaints. Loved it so much that I stayed at this hotel about 13 nights during my 21 day trip in Costa Rica Eben though I could have stayed with relatives. Felt safe, and comfortable. I can't praise this hotel enough.
Response: Thank you very much Mrs. Douglas for visiting us and for your kind comments. We are pleased to know that your experience was pleasant and that you had a good time with us. We hope you come back again. Best regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

Caleb Buswell: Staff are friendly and helpful. Many speak English which made things easier for me. The facility its self is nice and clean. Over all well maintained given the size. I have enjoyed my stay here. Rooms: Rooms were clean and had the expected amenities and technology. The shower was a ceiling spray which I really enjoyed.
Response: Dear Mr. Buswell. We appreciate your visit and time to comment about it, we are glad to know that you had a memorable stay. We hope to see you soon. Regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

Mike Fitzpatrick: Just finished week stay. No maid service till late in day just when you are returning tired. Ran out of food very early on Thursday buffet. Ordered ribs. Got saucer with one small rib and four French fries. Frequent visitor who will never stay again. Back downtown to more convenient hotels.
Response: Dear Mr. Fitzpatrick. We appreciate your visit, and again we offer our apologies regarding the time your room was cleaned, as we told you before, it was due to high occupancy and unfortunately the cleaning service was delayed, but it is always done. Regarding the food, we sent the comments to the department in charge. We appreciate your visit. Best regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

Lisa Basila: My husband and I celebrated my birthday here. We had a fantastic experience. We stayed in the 7th floor and were given Club access. It was amazing! Rooms: Our room was spacious, clean and elegant. The bed was so comfortable and the black out blinds worked perfectly. Nearby activities: The main entrance is very elegant. It leads you to the beautiful well-lit and inviting bar and restaurant. There is an entrance to a casino right next to the front desk. It's all tastefully done. Safety: We felt very safe and secure with the guard controlled underground parking. The handicap and electric vehicle parking spots are located next to the elevator which leads directly to the front desk. Our room also felt secure and included an in-room safe. Walkability: The hotel is located within walking distance to Pequeño Mundo. Other than that, you probably need a car or taxi /Uber to get around. Food & drinks: The breakfast on the 7th floor is unbelievable! You get an omelet station, sausage, bacon, pinto, plantains, yogurt parfait, waffles pancakes, cured meats and cheeses, lox, cream cheese, croissants... to name a few.
Response: Dear Lisa Basila. Thank you for your recent visit and comments, we are pleased to know that you had a memorable experience and we appreciate that you have chosen us for this beautiful celebration. We hope you visit us again. Best regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

Ramona Parker: I really enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was so welcoming, from the minute you arrived. The doorman to front desk to the maid service, every person there greeted you and assisted in anyway. The buffet breakfast was awesome. The coffee, ahh so good. I would higher recommend this Sheraton to anyone.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Response: Dear Mr. Abrego. We greatly appreciate your recent visit and time to comment on your experience, we are glad that your stay was memorable, we hope to welcome you again. Best regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

Edgar Nunez: Well located, beautifully decorated. Sushi bar is offering limited rolls due to the pandemic and the aisles are noisier than I remember they were. Overall a good not overly pleasant stay.
Response: Thank you very much Mr. Nunez for your visit, your comments always help us to grow and do things better. We hope you visit us again. Best regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

Jenny Jarell: Went to Arde Rooftop bar. Very nice view. Awesome! DJ and nightclub feel. Very young crowd though. Food was expensive! And drinks as well.Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great view, Party vibe …More
Response: Thank you very much for your visit Ms. Jarell and for your comments, we are glad to know that you enjoyed at Arde Rooftop, also, we take your feedback into account. We hope to see you again. Best regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

omri kashani: Location not as good as ac or residence in Rooms smells like cigarettes...but don't tell them that ...they will just ignore you ... Don't ask anything from the front desk .they will promise one things and just stare at you when you ask for it ...for example a ride to the airport that wasn't really there and the price went from 35 $ to 65$ If you ask their help they will laugh at you Daniela is the manager Isable is front desk ... Do your self a favor ...go somewhere else
Response: Dear Mr. Omri. Thank you very much for visiting us and leaving your impressions about it, we regret that the service received has not been up to our standards, we will verify what happened in order to improve our service. Best regards, Oscar Cevallos General Manager

Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen: what do users think?

Lisa A: We loved this hotel and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel is large and has lots of things to explore. Beautiful sparkling pools, restaurants, bars, a spa, walking trails, and the wifi isn't terrible. Both my husband and I made Zoom calls for work with video and had decent connectivity. The staff is friendly and speak English, which is handy for those without a grasp on Spanish. Overall, we loved our stay here. Noteworthy details: Amazing dining options and all the comforts you have come to expect from a Marriott Hotel.

Diana Moncaleano: We stayed at this hotel for 3nights, and it was an overall wonderful experience. Oscar at their Hacienda Restaurant and Alexander, the Bellman were superb in their customer service. The hotel is well located near Dollar Rental where we rented our car from, and only about half hour to the airport. Very relaxing ambience with great restaurant options. We tried all the restaurants and the food was just delicious from the presentation to the natural ingredients and yummy taste! I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to all of our family and friends. Pura Vida!

Paul Franzen: Outstanding stay. All of the staff is exceptional! The bellmen, Roy and Carlos noticed a low tire on my rental car. After checking with me, they contacted the rental car company and arranged for a replacement car. All with no effort or inconvenience on my part. Everyone else was courteous and welcoming at all times. Good Job! Thanks!

Craig Crowder: I really liked the hotel. I was a little disappointed because I asked for a quiet room on a high floor, months in of my stay, and instead of giving me a quiet room they placed me on the ground floor between the lobby and the bar. It was not really very quiet. I don't know why they chose to do that, it could have been because I was spending points instead of paying cash. But, what's the point of having a point system if you penalize people who use them. As I said the view is amazing. The hotel is right by the airport, so getting to the airport was super easy. They had a free shuttle. And the room itself was beautiful and comfortable. In any case, everything about my experience, except for the noise, was pretty good. I really like the views. I really like the structure of the hotel. It was so pretty there. The people were pretty nice too. If they're giving me a quiet room, it would have been a five out of five. All of that said, I would stay there again, if I were heading to Costa Rica. I would just be very very clear about my expectations before I arrive at the hotel. Take a look at the photos, you'll see what I mean about the beauty of the hotel.

Christine Wilson: My daughter and I booked our first trip to Costa Rica and we were pleasantly surprised at the friendliness, kindness, professionalism and love we received. From the time we checked on at the first desk, to the bell hop bringing our bags to our room. We had a phenomenal breakfast experience. I need to shout out Veronica , Martha, Caleb and Antonio. Antonio made us laugh so hard, it shifted my whole mood. Then the GM Dennis came over to our table in the Executive Lounge to greet us. This is what I call phenomenal customer service. We will be back again.

Lauren Eagan: This is a beautiful hotel. Excellent service, good food, and a relaxing spa. I came here for a week-long business trip and was so glad my staff selected this hotel. The rooms are relaxing and very clean. I arrived at 5:00 a.m. and initially didn't get the room I had requested because I think they were just trying to get me into a room so I wouldn't have to wait around all day. When I went back to get it straightened out, Abraham Jimenez, one of the supervisors, was incredibly helpful. He ended up putting me in the Presidential Suite, which was amazing. The views were gorgeous, and the suite was so spacious. Everyone throughout the hotel was incredibly accommodating and friendly. I tried all of the restaurants and room service during my stay, and all the food was delicious. On my last day, I decided to go to the spa. It was on par with some of the best spas I have been to. I got a body wrap, a massage, and a facial, and all were excellent. I spent time in their relaxation lounge and felt so rejuvenated by the time I left. Overall, the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen did not disappoint. I'm so glad I'm opening an office around the corner so that I have an excuse to stay here in the future!

Tyrone Flowers: Amazing and friendly staff. 4 restaurants with good food. Lovely property. The spa is gendered and bathing suits are required. This means you cannot share a hot tub, steam, or sauna with someone of another gender whom you’re traveling with. Easy airport access, quiet, and inviting. I’d stay any time I come to town.

Kium: Extraordinary service. Honestly the hospitality here was better than any other hotel I’ve ever been to. Definitely an entire resort at this location. Prices for everything was basically U.S prices, but i’d say worth every penny. Had a few 24/7 areas to dine and relax. Free Shuttle to Airport and Back was awesome. Will definitely be back at this hotel in the future!

Jess Boyce: I travel often for work and have stayed in many, many Marriotts. This is by far my favorite property I’ve stayed in! The staff was so kind and helpful, making sure we had absolutely everything we could need. The food in the restaurants was delicious, the activities on site were wonderful, the lounge was spacious and served both breakfast and dinner, the spa was absolutely divine - I had no reason to leave the property! We already can’t wait until the next time we visit!

Greg Floyd: I give it 4 and a 1/2 stars only because the pull out bed and the sweet the sofa bed did not have pillows blanket and cheats and we had to get it brought up to us. Other than that Alexander was excellent or bellhop and the service was great executive lounge is top notchRooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Hotel Barceló San José: what do users think?

Alla C: I love this hotel. Lovely decorated room, clean bathroom. Bed is comfy. Garden was very inviting, unfortunately I have not stayed long enough to enjoy it. Huge choice for breakfast. Guys working in there are doing exceptional jobs. I would recommend everyone who considers staying there.
Response: We would like to express our gratitude for the comments you made about your recent visit. They help us to understand how our guests experience their stay with us. It is always our goal to achieve maximum customer satisfaction and we are delighted to hear that your holiday at Barceló San José was an enjoyable one. We continuously strive to deliver high standards and to ensure that all our guests leave with beautiful vacation memories.

LAFOTODENATALIE Houston: I stayed there 2 nights, before and after the flight to US. I was so glad that I have picked the hotel. I took advantage of the free airport shuttle. I liked the garden full of exotic trees and plants. It looked like a mini botanical garden and I found it very impressive. When I was using one of those bars located inside the hotel, I was enjoying the view of the garden. Besides, that bar had a live music in the evening! The rooms were outdated but clean , the bed was comfortable. I had a view on the garden and city of San Jose. I did not like that I have never received a wake up call, however , I requested it as soon as I checked in. I was lucky that I woke up without the wake up call and did not miss the flight. The hotel was good for the price.

Johan Palm: We are happy with our stay, the hotel is located closely to the airport. Nice and clean room with everything you can wish for. The staff was helpful. The pool was a bit cold for my taste. The restaurant by the pool was fantastic!
Response: Thank you very much for sharing this great review of your recent stay at Barceló San José. We are thrilled that you have enjoyed your stay and certainly agree that our dedicated staff plays a key role to our guests' overall experience. The entire team works very hard to ensure that we deliver a high standard of service and a warm, memorable experience.

Nigel Van de Velde: When staying in San Jose just for the day (waiting on our flight back home in the late afternoon), we called the hotel to check if there were possibilities for a day-pass to enjoy the pools etc., without booking a night which was not needed for us. On the phone, the person was very rude to us; when we did not fully understand what he was saying due to the accent, and we friendly requested to repeat what he said, he simply replied “NO, do you understand THAT?!” in a very condescending manner. It looked like a very nice hotel, unfortunately the service we experienced was simply not good.
Response: Thank you for choosing our Barceló San Jose for your stay, we are sorry to read that you are not totally satisfied with the experience. We have taken good note of his comment about the customer service offered and we extend our sincere apologies if this time you have not felt properly attended to. Do not doubt that your comments will be studied to avoid this type of impressions on our clients in the future. Once again, thank you for your visit and constructive criticism, we hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust in the next time.

Hamza Nazir: Jean was very helpful and went above and beyond. The rest of the staff were alright as well. The view was decent from the second floor. I asked for a higher floor and the first staff member lied to me that they were doing renovations and that the other floors were closed. But I could see that people were staying on the other floors. Jean told me the truth that the other floors were reserved for some event.
Response: We sincerely appreciate the time you spent to share your comments following your visit to our Barceló San José hotel, our guests' feedback is of utmost importance to ensure our demanding standards of service at all times, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconsistency you may have experienced during your stay.

Susana Yáñez: Great place, stayed here for a week for our 2022 EducationUSA WHA Forum. The breakfast was great and the people very friendly. The garden is beautiful, the trees majestic and we saw hummingbirds. The only but would be that it's far away from downtown and tourist sights. Other than that, all great
Response: We always find it nice to read that our guests went home with great holiday memories and we are very grateful for the time and effort you spent to share your personal experience at our Barceló San José hotel.

Elena SW: The most beautiful hotel garden..! The rooms also have wonderful view. Some pieces of furniture , however, need to be upgraded. Breakfast was ok, but there was not any kind of chocolate -even in pancakes and croissants (which is a common breakfast in Europe). The pineapple 🍍 was the best i ve ever had in my entire life !

Michelle S.: Wonderful place to stay! Only stayed one night before taking my return flight home…wish I knew about it earlier as I would have planned days to visit San Jose and stay at Barcelo San Jose!!. Great beds, clean bathroom, and pretty roomy. I even had a nice city view from my 6th floor room. I didn’t get a chance to roam the grounds much but looks nice and inviting from where I can see. Of my week here in Costa Rica… visiting Manuel Antonio and LaFortuna this stop was definitely the most comfortable of hotels. Make your stop here before venturing out to the rest of the country!

Costa Rica Tennis Club Hotel: what do users think?

Eric Fuchs: Food has never been their strong suit, but service is always nice. Carril 5 has better food service.

Kevin Dantas: Non stop sports at a hotel? Perfect stayRooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Manlio Melloni: Restaurant service is terrible at all the restaurants. It took almost one hour for an appetizer. Many tables around me also complained. Things need to change, the club used to be very different. Hours of operation are different online. No communication between employees. It seems like there is no management, no chef, no one in charge. This used to be an incredible place, please dont let it fall

ILYA: Athletic paradise! Stay in their hotel and get breakfast included plus free unlimited access to all facilities. Best tennis spot in San Jose

stephen h: Lovely hotel nice staff great access to tennis a swimmingRooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Kees Hessels: Mwuah, a bit fancy pancy without the required attributes. Absolutely zero decoration, if this is a society kind of club, it's a rather poor looking one. Swimming pool is not heated, but there is a lot of space and equipment, but the place feels ..uncared for..

Nancy Bryant: In a called Superior room: Night club next door: extremely noisy for several nights past 11 PM. Rugs stained, bed clothing old and faded, bathroom without a cover drain, shower full to mildew, broken security box. Friendly staff and good restaurant near buy. I did not use the facilities. I do not recommend this place! I had to go elsewhere to get a good night sleep! Do not get deceived by their advertising pictures. These hotel needs to be revamped.

Manuel Enrique Quiros Ramirez: Great place. No places to have lunch in the outdoors. The restaurante are good, average price.

Melinda Usandivaras: Such a great community and family-friendly club. We love it

Andres Conejo: The hotel says it is a 3 stars hotel... Hmmm, I would agree but back in 1960. The people who work there are ALL 10 stars, they are helpful, nice, hard working, willing to do anything to make you feel comfortable and help you have a good experience. However, there is only so much people can do with such old and forgotten infrastructure. My 4 years old child cannot stop complaining about how icthy the bedbugs make her feel. We saw a couple of jumbo sizes roaches, and the carpet and curtains are from the beginning of time. You can tell by the ware-n-tear. All and all it is not best hotel but the quality of the people makes up for most of the bad things. Also, you can use all of the amenities of the Tennis Club which is another plus. One last thing, I am a vegetarian and it is hard to find something to eat. This is not a vegetarian friendly hotel.

Hotel Del Rey: what do users think?

quinna greer: My husband and I stayed at Hotel Del Rey as a couple. We had a great time! Every staff member we encountered did an amazing job. Excellent service! Our room was clean quite and cozy. The towels and linens were immaculate. The location is excellent for walking in the park. Shopping. Museums. And great food. Try Chubbs Sports Bar and Restaurant just down the street. Yes! There are many women there looking for company. Cool! An excellent cultural experience. We highly recommend.

JamesBronz - Gary Stephens (jamesbronz): One of the best places that I ever experienced a number of years ago. Traveling to central America for the first time I had the best time of my life and met some really amazing people there along the way. I never stayed in a room there, but the bar and the downstairs area with the machines was great. Hotel Del Rey is a place that you MUST SEE to believe.

Michael Ross: Very old and mediocre rooms, several hours each day no hot water. The casino is closed .. the bar area is tired and desolated. I moved to the nearby Taormina Casino Hotel which has much better rooms & facilities with the same entertainment options.

geo chax: Loud music through the night.Kind of dated or very outdated. The restaurant is outside. This is a w---e house turned into a hotel?

TONY CURTIS: Stopped in for a moment to use wifi. Sketchy folk at entrance.Nearby activities: Within walking distance of cultural sights

james jackimczuk: Stay from July 7-July 10, 2022. I had read a number of different stories about the Del Rey since it closed and what the new incarnation would be. If you were waiting for a definitive answer, let me make it clear. With all it's perfect imperfections, the Del Rey is definitely back. Every staff member did everything they could to make my stay enjoyable. They are still in the process of completing the casino, but much has been touched up and improved. The Blue Marlin is still the Blue Marlin. The restaurant next door has revamped the menu. I apologize but the Blue Marlin was so distracting, I didn't get to see the band. I will make sure I see the band on my next trip.

Sam: Hotel Del Rey indeed is back in operation. Same as before. Find you a girl, head upstairs, take care of your business. :)

Deena Rabadi: The bar was interesting experience. Lot of beautiful women 😍💜 if you're looking for women to take to the room this is the place!

Antonio Sebastian (Sebastian Consulting): nice place, good food.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 3/5Hotel highlights Great value …More

Ken Ford: The girls up front (ms. Gabby, Elizabeth and Karen) are amazing. They got me a cake when they found out it was my birthday. The security guys are great, the bar tenders, servers and casino staff are great. If you are looking for a place to relax and hang out with beautiful Latina ladies this is definitely the place. I'll be back soon!Rooms: 3/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 3/5 …More

Hilton San Jose La Sabana: what do users think?

Mark Nelson: This isn't just another Hilton. The staff and the property far exceed anyone's expectations. Extremely clean, with superb decor and the views into the National Stadium and surrounding areas are amazing! The food was delicious in the restaurant and the Executive Lounge. There has been time well spent training the staff. The COVID sanitizing is a high priority.

John Shook: My wife and I stayed ten days. The place is nice but the bed was very firm. The food is good but a bit pricey. The place is clean and secure but we did have a morning where the alarms blared waking us up early in the morning. The announcement was only in Spanish so we had no idea what was happening. We immediately got dressed and went down 29 floors only to be told that it was a false alarm. We felt like idiots as we seemed to be the only ones leaving the place We go back to our room and the alarm continues to go off. God forbid something serious happens in this hotel as the staff seemed utterly unconcerned during this situation.
Response: Hi John - We apologize for the inconveniences. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us regarding your bed and our service. We appreciate your positive comments about the food served and our property. We will share your review with the management. Please reach out to us at https://help.hilton.com/s/contactsupport or call us at 2220 9000.

Lindsey Harris: Love this hotel and the entire costa rica experience. I don't think i have experience a most kind and welcoming atmosphere in any other country. and i am talking about the country itself. Everywhere we went was incredible and it was mostly due to the people. The front desk was always available and helpful and Mathew was like a guardian angel the entire stay. so lovely would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the peninsula.

Peter Ku: A little pricy for Costa Rica, but you get what you pay for. Excellent service, great in door pool, great views, and new rooms. As Hilton Gold, the breakfast and lounge are excellent.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Spencer Ocean: Absolutely incredible hotel with the best views in San Jose. The hotel starts on the 18th floor and goes up from there. Fantastic breakfast and fantastic views from every room.

Daniel Fernando: My favourite Hilton so far. Very contemporary and chic. Fabulous views from the lobby (18th floor), the rooms, and pool (and sauna).Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Quiet …More

Alejandra Diaz: Best views in San Jose, the staff is super helpful and kind. Rooms are big and have great views, extra clean. Breakfast was great !

R Frazier: This review is long overdue. I am an avid traveler and traveled to Costa Rica for vacation for the first time. I selected this hotel because of the location and reviews. The trip started a little rocky upon check-in but the General Manager, Juan Carlos, and Anna-Marie (?) at the Front Desk turned it around. Juan Carlos and his team went ABOVE and BEYOND. The stay was incredible! We loved the room. It was spacious and overlooked the stadium, the breakfast buffet (which included mimosas) had something for everyone's taste. The service throughout the hotel was exceptional! (The bell staff was. on point every day with a friendly smile and an offer of assistance/directions/recommendations.) Even the Executive Lounge was phenomenal and provided a pleasant reprieve each evening with light food and astounding selection of non-alcohol and alcohol beverages. I will definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to anyone traveling to San Jose. The views, service, food and overall experience certainly makes this hotel a "must stay" for your next trip to San Jose.

Jenny Jarell: Restaurant has one side with nice view the rest if very claustrophobic feel. Maybe decorate walls with plants instead.?!Plates are expensive and does not come with any sides! I would come back but maybe for sitting outside with the view for Cocktails only.Service: 3/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Santiago Velez: One of the nicest hotels I’ve been in. Food is delicious, rooms are modern and silent, great bed, nice pool and gym with an amazing view. Great place to stay

Hotel Parque Del Lago San Jose: what do users think?

Jennifer Bernard: Booked this hotel due to it saying “complimentary breakfast” on their site but found out that it was not actually complimentary AFTER we ate it. Breakfast was terrible as well. No meat options, only toast, eggs, rice, and fruit. Will NOT be staying here again.Rooms: 2/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 2/5 …More
Response: Good morning Mrs. Bernard. We are sorry for the inconvenience that was created by the application where your reservation was made, the platform gives you the option to book with or without breakfast, unfortunately your reservation did not apply breakfast. Rates that include breakfast can be enjoyed in our restaurant from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Our breakfast is typical Costa Rican. Sorry what happened.

Deb Rogan: Lovely room and view! Great customer service. We love it here because of the location with easy assess to bus, a good shopping area close by and Sabana Park across the street. Breakfast from 6 a.m to 10 a.m. is included. Nice conference room too. Lovely covered patio.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More
Response: Thank you so much Mss Rogan for your comments, feel free to come back in a future, you always will be welcome. Best regards Jose Pablo Reservations

David Fontanez: We stayed here just one night, but we enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly, and the lobby and rooms were clean and well taken care of. The view from our room was great. The location was good, with access to food and activities, and it felt pretty safe to us. We would definitely stay there again!
Response: Thanks for share us your experience Mr David For us have been a pleassure be your best option for stay you in San Jose, Costa Rica We are so happy to know that you like all in your stay We will be so delighted to have your visit again Best regards Mike Monge Front desk Parque del Lago Hotel

Leona M: I truly liked this hotel. I stayed here for a week. It was very reasonably priced, clean, very quiet and perfect for my needs. I heard that the breakfast is awesome here but since I usually don't eat breakfast I didn't try it. Coffee was good though. Daily room service provided fresh towels every day. If there is one thing I was a bit disappointed with is that I chose this hotel because they supposedly had a gym with treadmill. Well the gym was there but there was no treadmill. Luckily since it is right next to La Sabana park I could go out to run.
Response: Thank you for your comments. We are glad to know that you had a nice stay in our hotel. Hope we can see you again. we start a few months ago to create hotel´s Gym , we hope when you coming again will be finished and ready with all machines do you needed .

Gary Rose: Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. Nice staff. However if you're an English speaking client their cable TV only has one English channel which is CNN. Also, there are no glasses in the rooms, they no longer have a coffeemaker in the rooms and coffee is only available with breakfast. I have to travel to San Jose about every month, so may try a different hotel next trip.

Mario Montero: Was there for a meeting of a private non profit. The meeting rooms were nice, clean, orderly. sound worked well. Service was good. It was ran by a few persons. Bathrooms new and perfectly clean. Nice place for a meeting.... If the room sizes meet your necessities. Small hotel, super well located. Parking lot and they have an electric car charger. They get five stars and would give one more for the charger.

Oana Drew: Stayed at this hotel for five days. Location is very good, about 15-20 min walk from downtown, depending on your speed. It is about 30-45 minutes by taxi from the airport, depending on the traffic. Accommodation was comfortable, staff very helpful and nice, room was cleaned every day. Bed very comfortable. The included breakfast is a bonus, not huge, but enough to get you going for the day. Fresh coffee, juice, etc. Air conditioned, although we didn't really need to use it . Didn't take photos, but the photos that are available on the Web on different sites are accurate. Highly recommend it!

Mr G: Excellent Hotel and Amenities! The staff was very friendly and compassionate with “tourist who expect more.” The “Art Deco” styled room was clean, comfortable, with a coffee pot and nice view of the mountain rising above the city. Magnificent Air Conditioning! The bathroom was very modern and the hot shower was Awesome! The hotel provided breakfast and staff added a relaxing way to start each day perfectly. Free security monitored parking in the covered-courtyard area in front of the hotel. I rented a car and my US Sprint data-free service provided the google maps gps guidance to drive 25 minutes from the airport to the hotel and all over CR without any issues. I liked the hotel’s location by the Parque Sabana, numerous sodas “small restaurants”, and standard cosmopolitan fare. Once in a while you may hear traffic but it’s not a real problem. I highly recommend you stay here. More so for business persons and couples.

Ines Schmidt: Safe place, contemporary style. Good for when you want to stay for business, or for a night before heading back to the airport after your holiday. There is a small breakfast menu and mini market. Staff are very friendly. It has a lift in case you are worried about that luggage.

Suzanne Lee: Stayed for 1 week end of March 2019. Across the street from Sabana park which my husband requested. The bathroom was tight to maneuver in, breakfast was good although pretty much the same everyday (better than nothing), if you're claustrophobic then take the stairs- only 4 floors total- because the elevator is very small. The gate does close after a certain time but the guard came and opened. When we left the hotel back to Canada at 5am the guard was there to open the gate. I took off a star because the room felt damp even with the air circulating.

Aloft San Jose Hotel, Costa Rica: what do users think?

Cynthia Cadet: Rooms were small but beautiful. Service was good. We left before breakfast, but they offered a mini breakfast to go with yogurt, a muffin, and fruit. Very nice! Location was next to a McDonalds and across the street from a mall. Also, not too far from the airport. The hotel shuttle to the airport was $30 dollars, very expensive considering the distance. If you want anything beyond that you will need a car.

Tricia Hahn Jeter: Really nice place and nice people. Know some Spanish! 🇨🇷 Great buffet and lounge. Location is great too right across the street from the Terazzas Lindora Mall.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Great value, High-tech …More

Frank Marchan: The rooms were clean and comfortable. The employees were very courteous. We had to delay our departure for 3 days because the airline canceled our flight, and the front desk was very helpful allowing us to stay for the additional period.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

FamoTV: Everything was good but the bed was totally uncomfortable. The mattress was very thin and it felt like the springs in the mattress were bent and broken. Another things to note, and no this did not impact my review since it's not the hotel's fault. The hotel is off of a very busy road. Plan your drives accordingly, traffic can and will get very busy during the day. It's best to plan your drives very early. Its funny to see Waze will tell you a certain destination will be a 10 min drive at 7am, then when you Waze this same destination at like 3pm it'll say its an hour drive. So yeah, definitely keep this in mind, we stayed here for only 2 days before moving to our main stay hotel in Arenal/La fortuna

Tim Tanner: Stay here often and it's always a pleasure, great beds and showers. Spotlessly clean and a hearty breakfast usually included.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

A1 Heating: Very nice hotel with friendly staff, definitely recommend this place.

Sharon O: Hotel was great, rooms very comfortable, modern, spacious and clean. The location was really good as across the road from a cinema and shopping mall. Breakfast was good and served until 11am. The reason why I don’t give it a 5 star rating is that at 11:30am we were told we have to leave the restaurant even though we were still having coffee, this did not make sense as people had to walk through the restaurant to access the pool area, so it was not like they were going to lock up the restaurant. They also advertise free tea and coffee yet it was $2 and had to be purchased from a machine. ☹️

Radim Svoboda: The staff here need to learn about Pura Vida attitude. Unengaged, looking unhappy and only doing the necessary. Needed to leave my car at their gigantic, always empty parking lot between stays as I flew out of the country for a business trip. Not possible. Other Marriott property (at the airport) happily lets me keep my car there. They also recently installer motion cameras in their rooms, presumably to control A/C better, but I find the blinking red light intimidating and frankly think that the cameras are useless, because they can't sense whether you are in bed asleep...

Villa San Ignacio / Restaurante Pandora: what do users think?

Steve Meyer: We were here celebrating our 50th anniversary. The moment we arrived in this quaint, romantic, and peaceful Villa we were made to feel special by Sergio. The suite was beautiful and romantic with so much ambiance. Lunch, dinner and then breakfast were all fresh, delicious with beautiful presentations by Oscar. Thomas happily assisted us with our champagne celebration and later introduced us to Rita, the resident paw baby. Thank you all for making our special day PERFECT. We live here in Costa Rica and will most certainly be coming back to Villa San Ignacio.
Response: Steve, Thank you for celebrating your anniversary with us! .. and for your kind review. Pura Vida!

Fiona Dunkerley: Arrived after a late flight, check in was quick and easy. The room was fine for 1 night after a long flight. We had one of the rooms at the back by the main road so was quite noisy. Breakfast was great on the terrace with a choice from the menu.
Response: Thank you for your review! I am happy that enjoyed breakfast on the terrace. Pura Vida

Marco Mancinetti: This was the first stop of our trip and it couldn’t have been better: we had a big room, huge bathroom and a nice place to apprehend our jet leg. As a family with 2 kids (7 and 10) we did appreciate the big pool, the many common places and the big park to play around. A special thank to all the staff and Sergio that helped us arrange our transfers and was always kind. Pura Vida, take care
Response: Marco, Thank you for staying with your family at Villa San Ignacio; and, for your kind review. We are happy when guests are happy. Pura Vida!

lizzfrmhon: It’s a cute 3 star hotel near town but it’s like a little oasis around the tambor area. The rooms could use a small armchair to have a comfortable sitting area. And coffee or minibar in the room would go a lot way to improve guest experience. Additionally y recommend the hotel to expand its menu. The breakfast menu is very limited so after 3 nights there it started to get old. Otherwise it’s a very nice boutique style hotel with gorgeous grounds full of nature and Costa Rican style artesanal rooms. The bed was super comfy which is one of the most important things to me. This place only needs a few improvements to make it stellar.
Response: Thank you for your recommendations Liz! I am not sure what room you stayed in, but our standard rooms will be getting just that - a remodel that includes a comfy place to sit. We also will bring back our lobby coffee service soon - that went out with the covid protocols. We appreciate the comments about breakfast.

Eddie Araya: This is a great little find in Alajuela. It's approximately a 20 minute taxi ride to the SJO airport, the main reason I picked this hotel. The other reason was for it's price for a family of 5. It's a nice quaint hotel with lots of personality. No TVs in our room but that was great. We bonded over a game of pool, we talked, we had dinner, ... we disconnected from technology. I actually loved it. We got there in the evening so we didn't have a chance to explore the grounds too much. I would like to thank Sergio for helping me acquire a taxi and the great communication leading up to the stay. It was a pleasure meeting him in person during breakfast the next morning. We had a great "Tico" breakfast (gallo pinto, eggs, fruit, etc) which was complimentary and then relaxed by the pool until check out. All the staff was exceptionally nice! I can only remember the names of Sergio and Angie. Someone on the staff that shared by last name but we aren't related :) Muchas gracias por todo!!! I know this has nothing to do with the hotel but the day we left, the weather was perfect! 80 degrees, low humidity and just gorgeous. Maybe something to look forward to in January.
Response: Thank you Eddie! We are happy that you found us....and enjoyed your stay. We appreciate that you have shared your experience. Pura Vida

Marthe SJ: My partner and I had the most fantastic time at this beautiful hotel. Superb beds and very charming decor, tho our waitress Angie was so fabolous and made our stay very special.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More
Response: Thank you Marthe, I will share your comments with Angie. We have grateful for your review and hope you can visit again sometime soon.

Joe Christopher: We were shopping in the area and stopped here for a late lunch and WOW the food was amazing and the surrounding area was beautiful! Definitely recommend the restaurant!
Response: Thank you very much for your recommendation!

Tara & Lady Bird the Dog: Little gem outside of airport. We have loved our stay at the Villa San Ignacio. We got the massive king bed room with expansive deck and views. Nice pool area. The staff is friendly and engaging, and the food is really quite good! A coffee maker in the room was the only thing missing.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More
Response: Thank you for staying with us Tara! We did just add a coffee service for guests in our conference room. There are a few services that we will be able to bring back soon! Pura Vida

Jenna Bland: What a great way to start our honeymoon! The Staff was so friendly and helpful with our first ever trip to CR. 10/10 would stay again. Comfy beds, great room service, the gate service is wonderful. I mean this guy literally ran to us with umbrellas when it was POURING. Oh my. My only complaint was the rooms could've used a tad bit more personality, but that will not hinder my experience nor my future reccomendations .
Response: Thank you for spending some of your honeymoon with us. And, for the very nice comments. Pura Vida!

Hannah Dupont: My family and I stayed at Villas San Ignacio for 3.5 days at the end of our two weeks Costa Rica trip. Villas San Ignacio is a safe blissful oasis in the middle of the bustling city. The rooms were clean and provided just what we needed. The trails, gardens, and views are breathtaking. We stayed on the grounds the majority of the time and enjoyed the beautiful pool and outdoor/indoor restaurant area. Jorge, the waiter, took care of us at every meal. He is personable, attentive, and provides warm hospitality during every meal. Though the food options were slightly limited, everything was delicious, including the cocktails. Our 6 and 3 year old daughters loved staying there - the Villas are very child friendly. If and when we come back to Costa Rica, we will definitely stay at the Villas again!
Response: Thank you Hannah! So glad to hear that your family enjoyed your stay. We also appreciate your kind review! We hope you do get a chance to return to Costa Rica and stay with us.

Hyatt Place San Jose/Pinares: what do users think?

Chris Durant: Great place to stay, with this hotel located in the middle of a plaza with a pharmacy, a bank, a sports bar and a few excellent restaurants - Argentinian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican and even a Dennys and a Subway! Safe environment with two security entrance gates to the plaza and security in the hotel itself. Lots of parking available, including a covered lower level. Excellent service from very friendly and helpfull staff. Delicious hot breakfast included!

Heath: I have stayed here 3 times now and each time has been great. Close to tons of food options and shopping.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Jordan Jones: Had a great stay this week. Great customer service at the front desk, clean room, quiet, and the best breakfast I've had at a Hyatt Place. Yes, the building is starting to show its age a bit, but they are taking really good care of it. We had great sushi across the street. Highly recommend!Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Amy Bergey: Sorry but any location where I need to walk up huge hills just to go for a walk is a no go for me. It was not worth the exorbitant fees just to be surrounded by expensive shops and restaurants. My be great for others but not my cup of tea.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 3/5 | Location: 2/5 …More

John Thompson: Excellent staff and service. Will absolutely visit again for all future stays.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Kyle McKee: Unfortunately during this stay our air conditioning was malfunctioning from the start and when advised of the problem the maintenance man simply tricked the thermostat into displaying a low temperature when in fact the room was still hot as hot as before he messed with it. Totally unacceptable and local management failed to address the problem when we followed up to advise of the unsatisfactory outcome. Air conditioning is quite literally one of the absolute most important things to have working in a tropical environment so not only is it completely unacceptable that they failed to fix it or move us to a different room... It's also unacceptable that they didn't catch the issue before the room was rented to begin with. In Costa Rica, one books at a name brand chain to escape the pervasively low hospitality standards experienced pretty much everywhere else in the country.... not relive it at double the nightly cost.

silvia gonzalez: Excellent service, great food, excellent restaurants and shopping center nearbyNearby activities: Excellent don't have to drive to find all necessary servicesRooms: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 1/5Hotel highlights Luxury …More

Ian Clarke: Family wedding hosted there. Restrictions due to Covid but the event went very well. MC worked hard all though the ceremony and the event. Food was good, the wedding was themed according to the grooms wishes and bride was blushing. One for the memories....Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Sergio Conejo: Arrived early morning (01:00 am) Rodrigo was very welcoming and helpful, nice room quiet and clean, good breakfast. Close to fancy restaurants and shopping centers.

Amanda D: I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay! The location was nice and safe, the staff was awesome, and the breakfast was such a treat. Jorge, Frank, and Steven at the front desk were a pleasure to talk to. All very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

The Train Suites Escalante: what do users think?

Neo Nyc: Absolutely spotless and brand new modern studio apartment. Extensive cable with english channels. Beautiful roof deck with BBQ. Supermarket and many restaurants 3 blocks away. I gave it 4 stars simply because I am traveling alone and it is in what appears to be a relatively upscale residential neighborhood and the three block walk is solitary until you reach the market and bars. I wouldn’t walk it at night alone, but I am told there is no need to fear. I have checked out a few neighborhoods in San Jose this week and this is the best location I have found so far. I have attached the view from my room. I also find this is the best value of all of the places I have seen.
Response: Thank you very much, we were very glad to have you

Jones: Super Apartment, would recommend it. It is in a nice neighbourhood, in the apartment was water tee coffee and everything you need. You can wash for little money(washing soap is included) The apartment is super new and modern. Bed is really nice and wow that view from the room. Fantastic. I paid 40 Dollar for the taxi(regular one) from the airport. I think they have a shuttle for 30 Dollar … You can walk into the center (30 min) Supermarket and restaurants are really near. Really nice. 👍👍

Philipp Kochman: Very nice room. Looks exactly as on the photos. The free jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace is an extra plus! Nearby (5min walk) are many cool bars and restaurants. Would definitely recommend 👌Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 5/5 …More
Response: Thank you very much

Alexander Kholmychev: The place is great. We loved every minute staying there. The view was awesome. The apartment itself was very cosy and clean. It has everything you need. Location is awesome and safe. The building located just a few steps from beautiful restaurants and bars. Highly recommended. The staff is helpful and very friendly. Will be back again!

Megan Coyle: I stayed here for my last night in Costa Rica. The hotel is a little tricky to find because the building name is “Nota escalante”. The apartment suites were great and it is located in a really nice, safe part of town. I traveled alone and felt safe walking at night. The hotel is located about 2 blocks from the restaurants.

Gildardo Montaño: Very nice place, great views, excellent coffee in French press. Close to several restaurants, coffee places, bars and downtown. The only detail was that we had one of the afternoons with rain and the television is very slow, apart from that everything was great

cecilia paredes-reise: We loved our impeccable room, we were comfortable and the building has a great staff and security. And a great view! Thank you!

Lydia Lee: Definitely surpassed my expectations and gave us a magical experience. The view was breathtaking and we’re so happy we chose to stay here on our first night in Costa Rica. The building and rooms are spotless, secure, and cozy, and the rooms are within walking distance of a bunch of delicious restaurants and bars. 10/10 would recommend! 📸IG: @lydmari3
