InterContinental Costa Rica at Multiplaza Mall, an IHG Hotel: what do users think?

Savannah Hutson: The hotel and the grounds are beautiful. I came after Christmas for the new year and it’s been a great experience. However, the reception staff could try harder to explain things and not be so nonchalant about things. Make a better effort and try to be more accommodating!Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 3/5 …More

Suzanne Roberts: Staff were very helpful and professional. First room I was assigned was not made up; this was quickly corrected. Nice breakfast buffet (also an a la carte menu). Bar area can get quite noisy - request a room further from the center. In addition to small shop and spa, there is a barber shop and a salon. Room was okay; tub could use a good bleaching, and the floor and stairs of the tub can be slippery...use caution

Christopher Le Jeune: Stayed in the tower with access to the lounge. Nothing to fault, it’s a well maintained intercontinental hotel. Unlike others I had an excellent experience with valet service. What I particularly enjoyed were the 2 outside pools (one heated) and outside jacuzzi, with very long hours (probably they even tolerate 24 hours), for me that’s a first for a hotel. The happy hour with food in the lounge 6-8pm is very good, as is lounge breakfast (way better than intercon Tegucigalpa), lounge staff absolutely tops. If I had to look for “improvements” it would be the Finnish sauna - but this part of the world is not known for saunas so I consider this unimportant. The main restaurants seem to get busy and can be noisy.

Chris: 4 Star hotel masquerading as a 5 star. My main reason for my rating is the valet. I come out in the morning at 5 am to catch a flight. No one was present. I go inside to tell the front desk we are waiting on multiple occasions and finally someone comes out from the dining area of the main restaurant. I present my Amex Biz Platinum card and the gentleman that came out tells me that this is only for Costa Ricans. I informed him that I spoke with the front desk staff the night before and this was not the case. He then tells me that he needs to "go get the machine". Now having waited for 10 minutes already, I told him we will just pay as Intercontinental had already wasted enough time and I had no confidence that they would even return. Of course, no change was available from the valet person so overall I was overcharged. This hotel definitely has hired the "B Team" to work here and it is pretty apparent once you start to attempt to use any services on the property. Pretty much a similar B Team experience with the restaurants as well. The room was fine and updated, but the 4 inch thick down comforter is a bit unnecessary. Prepare to be disappointed if you are familiar with real 5 star hotel services.

Hotel Presidente - San Jose, Costa Rica: what do users think?

Imani Murray: Good experience! Variety for breakfast and overall, a nice stay. We were charged extra for a fourth person in our room which we did not expect, but other than that it was a comfortable stay. There wasn’t anything exceptional, but the property is nice, rooms are clean, staff are helpful, and the amenities are good.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Richard Cauchi: We stayed one night on arrival from the US, based on other favorable reviews. And they are accurate about pleasant, friendly, attentive staff – providing a very comfortable king bed; storing our luggage before and after, and breakfast included. Package price of US $106 was very reasonable. The location is very convenient to 4 worthwhile museums. Their own restaurant, on the 4th floor with an exterior view is a nice resource for arriving guests. A neighborhood note: The hotel entrance is on a narrow side street with nearby construction. Nothing dangerous, just be careful.

Barbara A: 5 stars for the very friendly staff, nice lobby and decoration. The room however wasn’t up to standards: it smelled like humidity, the shower curtain was too short, cleanness wasn’t great either (old band aid on the floor)… overpriced

Nay A: Central location, very friendly staff, nice and charming common areas: exterior, rooftop, lobby etc. The room was disappointing as they did not match the pictures. It was not renovated; smelled like humidity; the fridge was extremely noisy and we had to unplug it to sleep; the bathroom was pretty old with short curtains and overflowing water..

Paul Branson: Great location and nice hotel. Right next to Central Avenue (pedestrian mall) which has tons of shops and restaurants. They have locked areas for cars if you have one and our breakfast was included.

Gran Hotel Costa Rica, Curio Collection by Hilton: what do users think?

Jason Lee: Good location in the heart of downtown. The 4 star was because of our experience at the hotel restaurant where the waiter tricked us into believing that the 10% service charge added to the bill is mandated by the government, just like the 13% tax. Being oblivious to this, we ended up paying double as tip for the service. The room is nice so are the amenities. Just that the integrity of the restaurant waiter could be improved. We would have paid equally as much for tip if he had been honest to us.

Dominique: I stayed at the hotel for one night and enjoyed the short stay very much. The room was very pretty. The gym is small but has everything you need. The breakfast room is very nice and the food selection is great. The lobby is very fancy and large, it has lots of places to sit. The staff is very friendly.

iBang: The hotel is in prime location. You step out of the hotel and you are in busy section of the old downtown. The central market is within 10 minutes walking distance. The room was clean and nicely decorated with mirror and lightning. The included breakfast was nice. The service specially the door man at the lobby was courteous and helpful. However there were two negatives. First expect to pay $28 for parking. Second the TV in the room are not smart TVs. No YouTube, Netflix ... Just Spanish speaking channels and the video quality was really bad.

Bryan Hix: We did not have a good experience here for our last night of 9 night in CR. The room was loud, we literally heard all kinds of sounds through out the hotel. 1 of 2 of our rooms were not ready on check in. The Happy Hour they said was available was not. We sat there for 3 hours since it was raining outside and they didn’t offer us anything or even knock a beer off our bill. We definitely wouldn’t stay here again and wished we would have just gone back to the Marriott near the airport. Much nicer.

Rhonda Warner: Great location. Best hotel in town. Stayed at room next to where President Kennedy stayed. View of courtyard and historic theater. We ate there and was a lovely meal. Very clean safe and welcoming.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Noily Alpizar: I visited the breakfast buffet with some friends, such a good quality and lots of options. Open from 7-10am. There’s was a 2x1 offer to eat 2 people. Good price for everything we ate. The place is the 5th floor so great view of the city.

V R Ganesh: Excellent hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in December. Great location. Excellent staff and a fantastic breakfast. Very special people work here..Johanna in the front desk, Sal in the breakfast area, Wenseslabo for dinner and Roy in the bar. Highly recommend. 10/10.

s j: This hotel is as grand as its name. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to most attractions. The national theater is across the square and is a must see, take the tour if possible. From the time you enter this hotel you are take into a beautiful mix of old world and modern elegance. The hotel is beautifully decorated, designed and importantly very clean. I stayed on the 4th floor, JFK had stayed on this floor and some of the exhibits from his visit are there on display. The elevator is glass and need a key card for use, access is restricted for safety. Room- the room was spacious, clean comfortable and elegant with plush carpeting. I had a street view, and there were double windows which kept out the noise. The bathroom was large, modern and I enjoyed the rainfall shower. The 5th floor dining room had floor to ceiling windows with excellent views of the city and wrapped the building. The breakfast buffet was large with many options and was included with my stay. All of the staff I met were friendly, helpful, professional and seemed happy in their jobs. However I would love to give a special thank you to Anthony, the bellman who was so welcoming, kind and helpful. You are an asset to the hotel and I hope they are aware. This trip was to uplift my spirits after the pandemic and thanks for helping. This is my first stay in the Curio collection and it definitely will not be my last. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visting San Jose, you wont be disappointed. .

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cariari San Jose - Costa Rica: what do users think?

Descanso Escondido: This place was fantastic. We started and ended our two week vacation here and it was perfection both times. We had 18 people with us and the front staff was able to accommodate all our room requests and helped store our luggage while we picked up rental cars, figured out how to use roof luggage packs, etc. The pool is fantastic, breakfast was delicious, and the hotel has a really great feel to it. They are renovating some spaces but it did not impact us at all. The rooms were very quiet and on our last night we stayed right near the lobby since we had to fly out so early. Both our kids had not trouble sleeping and we barely heard a sound through the walls. Our family really appreciated the separate kiddie pool and outdoor showers. My 7 year old wanted to make sure I also mentioned the delicious cookies that we received upon check-in. They were a hit with out boys. Will definitely stay here again.

Christina N: The hotel, itself, was great. There’s a complimentary breakfast with fried eggs made to order. There’s a fun bar with a lounge—they had karaoke the night we stayed there. While we were having some after dinner drinks, they came by with free beef skewers for everyone in the bar. I think it was excess food from the wedding that was happening in one of the event spaces by the bar. They were delicious. The only problem was our room. It was clean looking but smelled strongly of mold and cleanser. After some time the cleanser smell disappeared and all that was left was this horrible, pungent mold smell. It was impossible to sleep from the smell. We left the next morning as soon as possible. In their defense, we didn’t complain so we gave them no recourse to correct the issue. I wish that we had said something so we could see how they would have responded.

Gennalyn D Christian: We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. We have excellent experience while staying here even though the hotel is kinda old. I loved their tropical hotel set up. The bar and food are great. There is mini casino inside. The jacuzzi is perfect. Also its only 20 minutes away from the airport. There are few walking distance restaurant around and supermarket. The only problem was, because it’s old, the air conditioner was so loud and when I ordered sangria wine I noticed and taste it that the sangria wine was combination of wine and water.

Risalatul Hoque: Very friendly and helpful staff. We travelled as a family and did not come across any issues. It was a pleasure visiting Double Tree Cariari. We were welcomed and upgraded right away upon arrival; parking is across the street in a secured lot. Bar, pool, casino - everything was impressive. Highly recommended.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

J Roche: The restaurant service was excellent from Ramon, Tania and Rolando. They are excellent hard working friendly people. The room service was very good and quick. The hotel needs updates in the shower/bath tubs and shower curtains, and I prefer the hotel when it was painted with a crip white- however it was a good stay overall.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Matthew Jones: I have stayed at this hotel two times and each time is better than the next. The staff in the dining area is extremely friendly and always ready to provide excellent service. I appreciate Tania, Kever and Ramon’s customer service and hospitality. They are kind and very welcoming. Karina and the other chefs are great. They definitely know how to cook. I loved the food. The rooms are very clean. You can’t go wrong when you stay here. PURA VIDA!!

Deneen Cole-Ashbury: We booked a night in San Jose as our flight was string late. I booked thru the app and was able to get exactly what we needed (two adjoining rooms that were accessible). It was perfect. The brunch next morning was great. We enjoyed the facilities at the Double Tree CariCari before checking out and proceeding on with our trip. The hotel offers shuttle pick up at the air port which was great! Check in and check out we’re very easy and the staff amazing!

Sheraton San Jose Hotel: what do users think?

Caleb Buswell: Staff are friendly and helpful. Many speak English which made things easier for me. The facility its self is nice and clean. Over all well maintained given the size. I have enjoyed my stay here. Rooms: Rooms were clean and had the expected amenities and technology. The shower was a ceiling spray which I really enjoyed.

Mike Fitzpatrick: Just finished week stay. No maid service till late in day just when you are returning tired. Ran out of food very early on Thursday buffet. Ordered ribs. Got saucer with one small rib and four French fries. Frequent visitor who will never stay again. Back downtown to more convenient hotels.

Ramona Parker: I really enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was so welcoming, from the minute you arrived. The doorman to front desk to the maid service, every person there greeted you and assisted in anyway. The buffet breakfast was awesome. The coffee, ahh so good. I would higher recommend this Sheraton to anyone.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Costa Rica Marriott Hotel Hacienda Belen: what do users think?

Diana Moncaleano: We stayed at this hotel for 3nights, and it was an overall wonderful experience. Oscar at their Hacienda Restaurant and Alexander, the Bellman were superb in their customer service. The hotel is well located near Dollar Rental where we rented our car from, and only about half hour to the airport. Very relaxing ambience with great restaurant options. We tried all the restaurants and the food was just delicious from the presentation to the natural ingredients and yummy taste! I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to all of our family and friends. Pura Vida!

Paul Franzen: Outstanding stay. All of the staff is exceptional! The bellmen, Roy and Carlos noticed a low tire on my rental car. After checking with me, they contacted the rental car company and arranged for a replacement car. All with no effort or inconvenience on my part. Everyone else was courteous and welcoming at all times. Good Job! Thanks!

Christine Wilson: My daughter and I booked our first trip to Costa Rica and we were pleasantly surprised at the friendliness, kindness, professionalism and love we received. From the time we checked on at the first desk, to the bell hop bringing our bags to our room. We had a phenomenal breakfast experience. I need to shout out Veronica , Martha, Caleb and Antonio. Antonio made us laugh so hard, it shifted my whole mood. Then the GM Dennis came over to our table in the Executive Lounge to greet us. This is what I call phenomenal customer service. We will be back again.

Tyrone Flowers: Amazing and friendly staff. 4 restaurants with good food. Lovely property. The spa is gendered and bathing suits are required. This means you cannot share a hot tub, steam, or sauna with someone of another gender whom you’re traveling with. Easy airport access, quiet, and inviting. I’d stay any time I come to town.

Kium: Extraordinary service. Honestly the hospitality here was better than any other hotel I’ve ever been to. Definitely an entire resort at this location. Prices for everything was basically U.S prices, but i’d say worth every penny. Had a few 24/7 areas to dine and relax. Free Shuttle to Airport and Back was awesome. Will definitely be back at this hotel in the future!

Jess Boyce: I travel often for work and have stayed in many, many Marriotts. This is by far my favorite property I’ve stayed in! The staff was so kind and helpful, making sure we had absolutely everything we could need. The food in the restaurants was delicious, the activities on site were wonderful, the lounge was spacious and served both breakfast and dinner, the spa was absolutely divine - I had no reason to leave the property! We already can’t wait until the next time we visit!

Greg Floyd: I give it 4 and a 1/2 stars only because the pull out bed and the sweet the sofa bed did not have pillows blanket and cheats and we had to get it brought up to us. Other than that Alexander was excellent or bellhop and the service was great executive lounge is top notchRooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Hotel Barceló San José: what do users think?

Alla C: I love this hotel. Lovely decorated room, clean bathroom. Bed is comfy. Garden was very inviting, unfortunately I have not stayed long enough to enjoy it. Huge choice for breakfast. Guys working in there are doing exceptional jobs. I would recommend everyone who considers staying there.

LAFOTODENATALIE Houston: I stayed there 2 nights, before and after the flight to US. I was so glad that I have picked the hotel. I took advantage of the free airport shuttle. I liked the garden full of exotic trees and plants. It looked like a mini botanical garden and I found it very impressive. When I was using one of those bars located inside the hotel, I was enjoying the view of the garden. Besides, that bar had a live music in the evening! The rooms were outdated but clean , the bed was comfortable. I had a view on the garden and city of San Jose. I did not like that I have never received a wake up call, however , I requested it as soon as I checked in. I was lucky that I woke up without the wake up call and did not miss the flight. The hotel was good for the price.

Johan Palm: We are happy with our stay, the hotel is located closely to the airport. Nice and clean room with everything you can wish for. The staff was helpful. The pool was a bit cold for my taste. The restaurant by the pool was fantastic!

Nigel Van de Velde: When staying in San Jose just for the day (waiting on our flight back home in the late afternoon), we called the hotel to check if there were possibilities for a day-pass to enjoy the pools etc., without booking a night which was not needed for us. On the phone, the person was very rude to us; when we did not fully understand what he was saying due to the accent, and we friendly requested to repeat what he said, he simply replied “NO, do you understand THAT?!” in a very condescending manner. It looked like a very nice hotel, unfortunately the service we experienced was simply not good.

Hamza Nazir: Jean was very helpful and went above and beyond. The rest of the staff were alright as well. The view was decent from the second floor. I asked for a higher floor and the first staff member lied to me that they were doing renovations and that the other floors were closed. But I could see that people were staying on the other floors. Jean told me the truth that the other floors were reserved for some event.

Elena SW: The most beautiful hotel garden..! The rooms also have wonderful view. Some pieces of furniture , however, need to be upgraded. Breakfast was ok, but there was not any kind of chocolate -even in pancakes and croissants (which is a common breakfast in Europe). The pineapple 🍍 was the best i ve ever had in my entire life !

Julia Kaczmarczyk: Pretty nice hotel with big rooms and comfortable beds. Not the newest building but well maintained. Breakfast was not bad. The location is quiet as are the rooms.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5Hotel highlights Quiet, Great value …More

Michelle S.: Wonderful place to stay! Only stayed one night before taking my return flight home…wish I knew about it earlier as I would have planned days to visit San Jose and stay at Barcelo San Jose!!. Great beds, clean bathroom, and pretty roomy. I even had a nice city view from my 6th floor room. I didn’t get a chance to roam the grounds much but looks nice and inviting from where I can see. Of my week here in Costa Rica… visiting Manuel Antonio and LaFortuna this stop was definitely the most comfortable of hotels. Make your stop here before venturing out to the rest of the country!

Gal Anziska: way overpriced. they offered me an airport shuttle which never arrived. they then double charged me for my room and now are not honouring the original amount. food way overpriced, lite dinner for 1 cost me 45 USD.Rooms: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 2/5 …More

Manlio Melloni: Restaurant service is terrible at all the restaurants. It took almost one hour for an appetizer. Many tables around me also complained. Things need to change, the club used to be very different. Hours of operation are different online. No communication between employees. It seems like there is no management, no chef, no one in charge. This used to be an incredible place, please dont let it fall

Nancy Bryant: In a called Superior room: Night club next door: extremely noisy for several nights past 11 PM. Rugs stained, bed clothing old and faded, bathroom without a cover drain, shower full to mildew, broken security box. Friendly staff and good restaurant near buy. I did not use the facilities. I do not recommend this place! I had to go elsewhere to get a good night sleep! Do not get deceived by their advertising pictures. These hotel needs to be revamped.

Manuel Enrique Quiros Ramirez: Great place. No places to have lunch in the outdoors. The restaurante are good, average price.

Melinda Usandivaras: Such a great community and family-friendly club. We love it

Andres Conejo: The hotel says it is a 3 stars hotel... Hmmm, I would agree but back in 1960. The people who work there are ALL 10 stars, they are helpful, nice, hard working, willing to do anything to make you feel comfortable and help you have a good experience. However, there is only so much people can do with such old and forgotten infrastructure. My 4 years old child cannot stop complaining about how icthy the bedbugs make her feel. We saw a couple of jumbo sizes roaches, and the carpet and curtains are from the beginning of time. You can tell by the ware-n-tear. All and all it is not best hotel but the quality of the people makes up for most of the bad things. Also, you can use all of the amenities of the Tennis Club which is another plus. One last thing, I am a vegetarian and it is hard to find something to eat. This is not a vegetarian friendly hotel.

quinna greer: My husband and I stayed at Hotel Del Rey as a couple. We had a great time! Every staff member we encountered did an amazing job. Excellent service! Our room was clean quite and cozy. The towels and linens were immaculate. The location is excellent for walking in the park. Shopping. Museums. And great food. Try Chubbs Sports Bar and Restaurant just down the street. Yes! There are many women there looking for company. Cool! An excellent cultural experience. We highly recommend.

JamesBronz - Gary Stephens (jamesbronz): One of the best places that I ever experienced a number of years ago. Traveling to central America for the first time I had the best time of my life and met some really amazing people there along the way. I never stayed in a room there, but the bar and the downstairs area with the machines was great. Hotel Del Rey is a place that you MUST SEE to believe.

Michael Ross: Very old and mediocre rooms, several hours each day no hot water. The casino is closed .. the bar area is tired and desolated. I moved to the nearby Taormina Casino Hotel which has much better rooms & facilities with the same entertainment options.

geo chax: Loud music through the night.Kind of dated or very outdated. The restaurant is outside. This is a w---e house turned into a hotel?

TONY CURTIS: Stopped in for a moment to use wifi. Sketchy folk at entrance.Nearby activities: Within walking distance of cultural sights

Hilton San Jose La Sabana: what do users think?

John Shook: My wife and I stayed ten days. The place is nice but the bed was very firm. The food is good but a bit pricey. The place is clean and secure but we did have a morning where the alarms blared waking us up early in the morning. The announcement was only in Spanish so we had no idea what was happening. We immediately got dressed and went down 29 floors only to be told that it was a false alarm. We felt like idiots as we seemed to be the only ones leaving the place We go back to our room and the alarm continues to go off. God forbid something serious happens in this hotel as the staff seemed utterly unconcerned during this situation.

Peter Ku: A little pricy for Costa Rica, but you get what you pay for. Excellent service, great in door pool, great views, and new rooms. As Hilton Gold, the breakfast and lounge are excellent.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Jennifer Bernard: Booked this hotel due to it saying “complimentary breakfast” on their site but found out that it was not actually complimentary AFTER we ate it. Breakfast was terrible as well. No meat options, only toast, eggs, rice, and fruit. Will NOT be staying here again.Rooms: 2/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 2/5 …More

Deb Rogan: Lovely room and view! Great customer service. We love it here because of the location with easy assess to bus, a good shopping area close by and Sabana Park across the street. Breakfast from 6 a.m to 10 a.m. is included. Nice conference room too. Lovely covered patio.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

David Fontanez: We stayed here just one night, but we enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly, and the lobby and rooms were clean and well taken care of. The view from our room was great. The location was good, with access to food and activities, and it felt pretty safe to us. We would definitely stay there again!

Mario Montero: Was there for a meeting of a private non profit. The meeting rooms were nice, clean, orderly. sound worked well. Service was good. It was ran by a few persons. Bathrooms new and perfectly clean. Nice place for a meeting.... If the room sizes meet your necessities. Small hotel, super well located. Parking lot and they have an electric car charger. They get five stars and would give one more for the charger.

Mr G: Excellent Hotel and Amenities! The staff was very friendly and compassionate with “tourist who expect more.” The “Art Deco” styled room was clean, comfortable, with a coffee pot and nice view of the mountain rising above the city. Magnificent Air Conditioning! The bathroom was very modern and the hot shower was Awesome! The hotel provided breakfast and staff added a relaxing way to start each day perfectly. Free security monitored parking in the covered-courtyard area in front of the hotel. I rented a car and my US Sprint data-free service provided the google maps gps guidance to drive 25 minutes from the airport to the hotel and all over CR without any issues. I liked the hotel’s location by the Parque Sabana, numerous sodas “small restaurants”, and standard cosmopolitan fare. Once in a while you may hear traffic but it’s not a real problem. I highly recommend you stay here. More so for business persons and couples.

Ines Schmidt: Safe place, contemporary style. Good for when you want to stay for business, or for a night before heading back to the airport after your holiday. There is a small breakfast menu and mini market. Staff are very friendly. It has a lift in case you are worried about that luggage.

Aloft San Jose Hotel, Costa Rica: what do users think?

Cynthia Cadet: Rooms were small but beautiful. Service was good. We left before breakfast, but they offered a mini breakfast to go with yogurt, a muffin, and fruit. Very nice! Location was next to a McDonalds and across the street from a mall. Also, not too far from the airport. The hotel shuttle to the airport was $30 dollars, very expensive considering the distance. If you want anything beyond that you will need a car.

Tricia Hahn Jeter: Really nice place and nice people. Know some Spanish! 🇨🇷 Great buffet and lounge. Location is great too right across the street from the Terazzas Lindora Mall.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Luxury, Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Great value, High-tech …More

Frank Marchan: The rooms were clean and comfortable. The employees were very courteous. We had to delay our departure for 3 days because the airline canceled our flight, and the front desk was very helpful allowing us to stay for the additional period.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

A1 Heating: Very nice hotel with friendly staff, definitely recommend this place.

Sharon O: Hotel was great, rooms very comfortable, modern, spacious and clean. The location was really good as across the road from a cinema and shopping mall. Breakfast was good and served until 11am. The reason why I don’t give it a 5 star rating is that at 11:30am we were told we have to leave the restaurant even though we were still having coffee, this did not make sense as people had to walk through the restaurant to access the pool area, so it was not like they were going to lock up the restaurant. They also advertise free tea and coffee yet it was $2 and had to be purchased from a machine. ☹️

Villa San Ignacio / Restaurante Pandora: what do users think?

Steve Meyer: We were here celebrating our 50th anniversary. The moment we arrived in this quaint, romantic, and peaceful Villa we were made to feel special by Sergio. The suite was beautiful and romantic with so much ambiance. Lunch, dinner and then breakfast were all fresh, delicious with beautiful presentations by Oscar. Thomas happily assisted us with our champagne celebration and later introduced us to Rita, the resident paw baby. Thank you all for making our special day PERFECT. We live here in Costa Rica and will most certainly be coming back to Villa San Ignacio.

Fiona Dunkerley: Arrived after a late flight, check in was quick and easy. The room was fine for 1 night after a long flight. We had one of the rooms at the back by the main road so was quite noisy. Breakfast was great on the terrace with a choice from the menu.

Marco Mancinetti: This was the first stop of our trip and it couldn’t have been better: we had a big room, huge bathroom and a nice place to apprehend our jet leg. As a family with 2 kids (7 and 10) we did appreciate the big pool, the many common places and the big park to play around. A special thank to all the staff and Sergio that helped us arrange our transfers and was always kind. Pura Vida, take care

lizzfrmhon: It’s a cute 3 star hotel near town but it’s like a little oasis around the tambor area. The rooms could use a small armchair to have a comfortable sitting area. And coffee or minibar in the room would go a lot way to improve guest experience. Additionally y recommend the hotel to expand its menu. The breakfast menu is very limited so after 3 nights there it started to get old. Otherwise it’s a very nice boutique style hotel with gorgeous grounds full of nature and Costa Rican style artesanal rooms. The bed was super comfy which is one of the most important things to me. This place only needs a few improvements to make it stellar.

Marthe SJ: My partner and I had the most fantastic time at this beautiful hotel. Superb beds and very charming decor, tho our waitress Angie was so fabolous and made our stay very special.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Joe Christopher: We were shopping in the area and stopped here for a late lunch and WOW the food was amazing and the surrounding area was beautiful! Definitely recommend the restaurant!

Tara & Lady Bird the Dog: Little gem outside of airport. We have loved our stay at the Villa San Ignacio. We got the massive king bed room with expansive deck and views. Nice pool area. The staff is friendly and engaging, and the food is really quite good! A coffee maker in the room was the only thing missing.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Hannah Dupont: My family and I stayed at Villas San Ignacio for 3.5 days at the end of our two weeks Costa Rica trip. Villas San Ignacio is a safe blissful oasis in the middle of the bustling city. The rooms were clean and provided just what we needed. The trails, gardens, and views are breathtaking. We stayed on the grounds the majority of the time and enjoyed the beautiful pool and outdoor/indoor restaurant area. Jorge, the waiter, took care of us at every meal. He is personable, attentive, and provides warm hospitality during every meal. Though the food options were slightly limited, everything was delicious, including the cocktails. Our 6 and 3 year old daughters loved staying there - the Villas are very child friendly. If and when we come back to Costa Rica, we will definitely stay at the Villas again!

Hyatt Place San Jose/Pinares: what do users think?

Chris Durant: Great place to stay, with this hotel located in the middle of a plaza with a pharmacy, a bank, a sports bar and a few excellent restaurants - Argentinian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican and even a Dennys and a Subway! Safe environment with two security entrance gates to the plaza and security in the hotel itself. Lots of parking available, including a covered lower level. Excellent service from very friendly and helpfull staff. Delicious hot breakfast included!

Heath: I have stayed here 3 times now and each time has been great. Close to tons of food options and shopping.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Amy Bergey: Sorry but any location where I need to walk up huge hills just to go for a walk is a no go for me. It was not worth the exorbitant fees just to be surrounded by expensive shops and restaurants. My be great for others but not my cup of tea.Rooms: 4/5 | Service: 3/5 | Location: 2/5 …More

John Thompson: Excellent staff and service. Will absolutely visit again for all future stays.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Ian Clarke: Family wedding hosted there. Restrictions due to Covid but the event went very well. MC worked hard all though the ceremony and the event. Food was good, the wedding was themed according to the grooms wishes and bride was blushing. One for the memories....Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 …More

Sergio Conejo: Arrived early morning (01:00 am) Rodrigo was very welcoming and helpful, nice room quiet and clean, good breakfast. Close to fancy restaurants and shopping centers.

Amanda D: I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay! The location was nice and safe, the staff was awesome, and the breakfast was such a treat. Jorge, Frank, and Steven at the front desk were a pleasure to talk to. All very helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

The Train Suites Escalante: what do users think?

Neo Nyc: Absolutely spotless and brand new modern studio apartment. Extensive cable with english channels. Beautiful roof deck with BBQ. Supermarket and many restaurants 3 blocks away. I gave it 4 stars simply because I am traveling alone and it is in what appears to be a relatively upscale residential neighborhood and the three block walk is solitary until you reach the market and bars. I wouldn’t walk it at night alone, but I am told there is no need to fear. I have checked out a few neighborhoods in San Jose this week and this is the best location I have found so far. I have attached the view from my room. I also find this is the best value of all of the places I have seen.

Jones: Super Apartment, would recommend it. It is in a nice neighbourhood, in the apartment was water tee coffee and everything you need. You can wash for little money(washing soap is included) The apartment is super new and modern. Bed is really nice and wow that view from the room. Fantastic. I paid 40 Dollar for the taxi(regular one) from the airport. I think they have a shuttle for 30 Dollar … You can walk into the center (30 min) Supermarket and restaurants are really near. Really nice. 👍👍

Philipp Kochman: Very nice room. Looks exactly as on the photos. The free jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace is an extra plus! Nearby (5min walk) are many cool bars and restaurants. Would definitely recommend 👌Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Alexander Kholmychev: The place is great. We loved every minute staying there. The view was awesome. The apartment itself was very cosy and clean. It has everything you need. Location is awesome and safe. The building located just a few steps from beautiful restaurants and bars. Highly recommended. The staff is helpful and very friendly. Will be back again!

Megan Coyle: I stayed here for my last night in Costa Rica. The hotel is a little tricky to find because the building name is “Nota escalante”. The apartment suites were great and it is located in a really nice, safe part of town. I traveled alone and felt safe walking at night. The hotel is located about 2 blocks from the restaurants.

Gildardo Montaño: Very nice place, great views, excellent coffee in French press. Close to several restaurants, coffee places, bars and downtown. The only detail was that we had one of the afternoons with rain and the television is very slow, apart from that everything was great

cecilia paredes-reise: We loved our impeccable room, we were comfortable and the building has a great staff and security. And a great view! Thank you!

Lydia Lee: Definitely surpassed my expectations and gave us a magical experience. The view was breathtaking and we’re so happy we chose to stay here on our first night in Costa Rica. The building and rooms are spotless, secure, and cozy, and the rooms are within walking distance of a bunch of delicious restaurants and bars. 10/10 would recommend! 📸IG: @lydmari3

Elif Muemin: The room was super clean and very comfortable and I had a very small issue and it was resolved within minutes. Would definitely choose to stay here againRooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More

Rafael Figueroa: Great staff, beautiful city, and fantastic room! I will definitely be returning.Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 5/5 …More
