Universidad Veritas: what do users think?
Shane O
Shane O: Did a study abroad program in Summer 2015. Enjoyed my time there immensely and want to go back! The staff was very helpful and extremely nice to me! Would recommend anyone who is studying aboard I’m Costa Rica to attend Veritas!
Rick Spaans
Rick Spaans: Excellent university with contemporary courses
AM SS
AM SS: Comfortable place, and hard working teachers. However, registration and monthly payments are like Superman: Up!....In the clouds!
Neonskyy20
Neonskyy20: Ta potable
Edac Enarc
Edac Enarc: Nice campus
22
22: Do not study at that university, it is bad face and there are many rings more than all Digital Animation, if you like art study outside. The area is very saturated and there are no possibilities to grow, the job market falls short and does not even offer you an internship at the end of the degree to gain experience. What you invest is more expensive than what you are going to earn in the market.
drjywong
drjywong: It is not a university but a discotheque, often they organize SCANDALOUS party disrespecting the peace of the surroundings. A good university does not need to be throwing parties to attract or retain students.

Tico Lingo Spanish School: what do users think?
david harris
david harris: It’s a 5 star experience. First of all, my Spanish improved dramatically, two full language levels in 2 months. (A2 to B2) I had originally thought to stay one month, and enjoyed the process so thoroughly I stayed for 2. Now I can have full natural and organic conversations with native speakers, and that wasn’t possible prior to Tico Lingo. Secondly the people at the school — both students and faculty — were excellent. I made lifelong friends here. Furthermore, administration was always friendly, visible and available to assist with questions or concerns. I loved my home stay family and we still communicate regularly after my departure. They’re truly lovely human beings. It’s difficult not to wax overly poetic about my time at Tico Lingo, because it was just all upside, no negatives. If you’re considering attending a language immersion program in Costa Rica, you owe it to yourself to come to Tico Lingo. I’m already making plans to return, if not to continue schooling at least to visit the friends and family I made while there. 👍
Response: Dear friend David, thank you very much for sharing your experience at our school. Tico Lingo will always be your home in Heredia - Costa Rica. Everyone here feels very lucky that you have chosen us and that we were able to help you in your Spanish learning process. Thank you. We hope to see you very soon! Our best wishes always. Pure Life!! Tico Lingo School!
Jordan Bush
Jordan Bush: My husband and I just finished two weeks at Tico Lingo and it was so special! Before coming, I was really nervous about my beginner level in Spanish, but the staff was incredibly welcoming, kind, and helpful. We learned so much in just two weeks. It was really amazing getting to interact with our host family and our classmates. We felt really comfortable going to the Tico Lingo staff if we had any questions, needed recommendations, help, etc. I would totally recommend this school and experience and I hope we can come back again someday!
Response: Dear Jordan and Zach, We loved our time with you two also!! :-) Thank you very much for taking the time to write your experience at Tico Lingo :-) We are happy that you enjoyed your Spanish classes at our school! We hope to see you here again, we miss you very much and keep practicing your Spanish. Thank you very much for your love and support. Tico Lingo Spanish School.
Shannon Ellis
Shannon Ellis: I spent three weeks taking classes and living in a home stay with Tico Lingo and had an amazing experience! My Spanish skills have improved immensely which has provided me with confidence to go on traveling in Costa Rica without concern of a language barrier. All of the staff at Tico Lingo were very friendly, helpful and resourceful. If I ever had a problem or question, I knew someone there would be able to help me out. My host family welcomed me in with open arms and made me feel right at home. They quickly became a second family to me. I feel so fortunate to have had such an authentic experience connecting to the Costa Rican culture. I am already looking forward to my next stint with Tico Lingo!
Response: ¡Mil gracias por sus palabras Shannon! We wish you the best of luck with your Spanish learning adventure and hope to see you back in Costa Rica sometime soon! ¡Pura vida!
Lisa Ward
Lisa Ward: I’m so happy I was able to experience Tico Lingo. It was my very first immersion program and it was excellent from start to finish. I’m a 54 year old female and went without my husband for 2 weeks with the goal of improving my motivation to continue learning and improve my conversation skills. My goal was met and exceeded because of the wonderful family I stayed with, delicious meals provided by my Tica familia, the knowledgeable teachers and other students with the same interest in improving their Spanish. The extra activities are also wonderful. I took part in the cooking classes, yoga, dance and Saturday trips. Everything was excellent and the town of Heredia is a very safe city. A small city where you have lots of chances to practice Spanish since it’s not a touristy area. I also found this program to be a great value for what I paid. I would definitely recommend Tico Lingo to anyone wanting to improve their Spanish skills and meet a lot of other great people with similar interests.
Response: Hello dear Lisa!! Thank you very much for sharing your experience in our school. We are so happy that you enjoyed your Spanish classes, our activities, your Tico family and our beautiful Costa Rica! We hope to see you here again. Keep practicing your Spanish. Pure Life! Tico Lingo School.
Craig Anderson
Craig Anderson: I spent two great weeks at Tico Lingo. During the first week I realized how much I was learning. The classes were organized and the teachers were great. Living with a Costa Rican family was a cultural and learning experience. Spanish 24 hours a day is the way to learn a language. I will return to Tico Lingo in the near future for a longer stay.
Response: Good morning dear Craig, thank you very much for sharing your experience at our school with everyone. We hope you can continue learning Spanish and be able to pour again soon! Our best wishes always. Pure Life!! Your friends from Tico Lingo!
Amie Nguyen
Amie Nguyen: Tico Lingo was everything I had hoped for and more. My experience here was absolutely incredible! I can honestly say that I learned more Spanish in my 6 weeks at Tico Lingo than I did in my 4 years of high school Spanish, and they made it fun to learn! I noticed a big improvement in my speaking and listening skills throughout my time here. Huge thank you to my professors, FREDDY and ZAIDA, for being the best! Not only is the school and program itself the top of the top, the students and staff were also some of the nicest, motivated, and most interesting people I’ve ever met. I easily found a group of friends that I clicked with and we developed beautiful friendships that will last for many years to come. We fully took advantage of the weekends to explore all parts of Costa Rica, and it was easy to find travel buddies because students were always offering invitations to join them. Thank you to Tico Lingo for not only helping me learn Spanish, but also allowing me to meet the coolest people. My homestay experience was marvelous, and I felt welcomed the moment I walked in. I was able to practice my Spanish with them and they were always patient and willing to talk to me. I know that I will always have a family here in Costa Rica. I would highly recommend everyone to come to Tico Lingo and experience life here in this beautiful country. Pura vida!
Response: Hello dear Amie!! Thank you very much for taking the time to write about the experience you had at Tico Lingo :-) We are so happy that you enjoyed your Spanish classes, your Tico family and our beautiful country! We hope to see you here again, we will miss you very much. Keep practicing your Spanish. Thank you very much for your love and support. Tico Lingo School.
Shayna Morrison
Shayna Morrison: I LOVED my week of spanish classes with Tico Lingo!!! Everything was organized wonderfully; I knew exactly who was picking me up from the airport and a profile of my host family prior to arriving. Every day, there is a different activity ranging from cooking classes to dance that you can take part in outside of class (so fun!). I felt encouraged during my time with Tico Lingo and I definitely reccomend classes to anyone looking to improve their level of spanish!
Response: Hello dear Shayna! The entire Tico Lingo team is incredibly grateful for the nice review you have shared. We are glad that you have chosen our Spanish school and that you have enjoyed our classes and cultural activities. Keep practicing your Spanish! Pure Life! Tico Lingo School.
Nabila
Nabila: I had an amazing experience with Tico Lingo! I learned so much, met awesome people, and have memories that I will cherish for a lifetime My teachers and home stay family were incredible. I feel very fortunate to have had to opportunity to live and study in Costa Rica for three weeks. My only regret is that I should have made my stay a bit longer. I took group classes with Eric and private classes with Freddy. They are both amazing teachers!!! My classes were fun, interesting, and packed with information. I also want to give a shout out to Yenifer at Tico Lingo. She is the go-to person at the school and has a million things on her plate but was always there for me when I had a question or needed help. I went on a weekend trip to Manuel Antonio National Park— it was so cool! The forests are beautiful and full of different kinds of animals— I saw different 3 types of monkeys and a sloth. The beaches there were perfection and I definitely recommend it! I also highly recommend living with a host family. My host family was very generous and supportive! I learned so much more about Costa Rican food and culture because I stayed with them. My host mom in particular was so thoughtful and made the BEST food! 💗💗💗
Response: Hello dear Nabila, We are so grateful to you for sharing your experience at Tico Lingo. How happy it makes us to know that you enjoyed your Spanish classes, our activities, tours, your Tico family and our beautiful Costa Rica! We already miss you so much. We hope to see you very soon. Pure Life! :-) Tico Lingo School.

International TEFL Academy Costa Rica: what do users think?
Crispin O'Brien
Crispin O'Brien: An incredible school & an amazing experience. I feel so fortunate to have taken the 4-week TEFL course at the ITA in Barva. The standard of teaching is exceptional, the school is so well connected to the job market in the Central Valley that I could easily find work afterwards, the course prepared me thoroughly to be successful in that position and I had a great time taking the course, where I learnt so much and made friends for life.
Response: Thanks for the feedback Crispin. It was a please having you in the class. You're going to be an amazing English teacher :)

Conversa: what do users think?
Jan Costello
Jan Costello: Conversa is an excellent school in a beautiful part of the world. The staff works closely with each student to ensure that the students get what they need, and my classes had no more than four students. The instructors are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and skilled. The pace of instruction worked well for me, and additional instruction was available in the afternoons. The home stay was pleasant – my family was friendly and accommodating, and we spoke Spanish! The food at the school, at “home,” and in restaurants was terrific. By the way, there are delicious bakeries just about everywhere. I enjoyed being in Santa Ana; it is a lovely, walkable town. The people are so friendly. Plus, Santa Ana is close to great museums in San Jose, accessible by city buses (and large malls, if that’s your thing). It was also easy to plan weekend trips to national parks, the cloud forest, and the beach (immense help from a wonderful staff member). I am so happy to have experienced this school for four wonderful weeks in the summer 2018! I took a before and after test, and I can see the progress. I highly recommend Conversa.
suzanne j
suzanne j: I always believed it would be unrealistic to expect to learn a language reasonably well as an older adult. Yet, I studied at the Conversa campus several times in Costa Rica following up with online classes since then. My continued studies at Conversa has proven to me that with determination and persistence, some degree of proficiency could be within my reach. Recently, I traveled alone in Colombia for three weeks relying on Spanish most of the time. When I returned to the States I was feeling somewhat empowered that I could easily get around with confidence traveling alone in Colombia. What an exhilarating experience.
Rebecca Crow
Rebecca Crow: An amazing experience. By my second week I was thinking in Spanish due to the superb teachers I had. I loved the campus in the hills above Santa Ana. My room and private bath in the Casona was very comfortable and the Casona itself was lovely. There was space for privacy and for social time with the other interesting students from all over the world. Yummy food from their own organic gardens. Totally helpful and friendly staff. And of course Gata was always looking out for us. I’ve been to other schools and this was the best. I’m continuing my Spanish at home and hope to return to Conversa next year. And my Spanish is still with me.

Auto Mercado San José Centro: what do users think?
Vitaly Tarasov
Vitaly Tarasov: Best selection of packaged goods all around. Decent produce choices, although could be better. Many baked goods. A lot of products from the US national brands.
Jennifer Adams
Jennifer Adams: Auto Mercado is a great grocery store. You can find almost anything there. I love their wine selection.
Tatchai Titichetrakun
Tatchai Titichetrakun: A supermarket chain in Costa Rica. If I had not found this place, I would not know that I need to boil pejiyabe before eating so this place saved my life a bit. The pejiyabes here are already boiled in salt water and even though they are not that expensive, they are much more expensive compared to pejiyabes sold in the market or cheaper store where the pejiyabes may not be boiled.
dikimi k
dikimi k: Well stocked store with much variety! Not sure about the other Auto Mercados, but this one has a deli cafe on the second floor. Access is from inside of the store. Offers nice sandwiches and drinks. Staff is very friendly. Provided a nice place to chill for a bit.
José Francisco Pereira da Silva de Pádua
José Francisco Pereira da Silva de Pádua: A good place for eat local food.Very popular and cheap.Try gallo pinto with fish or eggs or meat as you want they have
The Wheat Beer Taster

Jose Gomez
Jose Gomez: There is always something new. Good option to get good deals.
Michael Wurm
Michael Wurm: PriceSmart is a great place to do your shopping. They are as always reliable and carry high quality goods. It’s good to sign up for a membership as only then you can do your shopping there. Their staff is well trained and also always very professional and customer oriented. Therefore thumbs up to PriceSmart!
Ron Mendelson
Ron Mendelson: Shopping in store is usually pretty good. Shopping online however is another story. They somehow find ways to have errors in your order missing items, spoiled items, incorrect items, etc. The problem with that is there is no way to reach anyone to have the error fixed. This part of their service I would rate a ZERO. Best to avoid their online shopping service as the incompetence of the employees they have working in that dept. is a glaring example of how not to treat your customers.
Pura Vida Home Inspections
Pura Vida Home Inspections: I love PriceSmart. I of course wish it was bigger!
Jannet Vargas Gomez
Jannet Vargas Gomez: Good for buying quantity and also I may say quality, but once you find something you want you need to get it since it may not come back again

Beckett Prado
Beckett Prado: Pricesmart is always a great place to shop. Some items such as fruits and vegatables are expensive but higher quality, and sometimes there are items which cost more than elsewhere but possibly this is because other stores have sales sometimes
Sebastian Elizondo
Sebastian Elizondo: A little crowded, bit besides that pretty cool. Great CS. Avoid placing your order to Click&Go for rush hour, they are unable to handle it and therefore its a headache for us.
Dan Mart
Dan Mart: Great selection of products. Premium prices but worth it when one cannot get those producrs elsewhere. Long lines at checkout, as always. Terrible service at customer service desk, as usual. Takes a long time for each individual customer who has the misfortune of having to need assistance at customer service. I go to PS because I need specific products, but it is ALWAYS an unpleasant experience.
Diego Landero
Diego Landero: From groceries to furniture, you can find many products here and also eat something after shopping.
Jose Oreamuno
Jose Oreamuno: Without a doubt the best supermarket to buy, contrary to what people say, it has very good prices and a good variety of things. Excellent prices, unbeatable product quality. Clean, tidy, good care, secure parking. Only downside is that it gets very crowded often.
Pietro Sciuto
Pietro Sciuto: They did not honor a month guarantee on a coffee maker. 😒

You will find a highly trained and very professional staff and a broad range of high quality products there. OK, they are not a least cost supplier, but we always stop at Auto Mercado, when we are in the Central Valley because it’s good to shop there and we love their reliability! I now have to go to other to as many as 3 different places to purchase the things I need or want. If this place keeps on its down hill trend I will no longer be a regular client.
