La Mancha: what do users think?
Al Fuentes
Al Fuentes: First I want to qualify this review by telling you that I’ve had coffee all around the world. It is one of the main reasons why I travel. This coffee place is legitimately at the top of the list! If you want a true Costa Rican coffee experience then you have to come here. The owner, Alberto, gets his beans directly from the farmers and roast them himself! The freshness of the coffee and the quality of the bean from the Tarrazú region is second to none. Also, it is perfectly roasted to bring out all of the best flavors. Most of Costa Rica’s coffee is exported, so it is hard to find a true local coffee shop. Like a true specialty coffee shop, there are multiple brew methods and you can even take a bag of coffee home with you. If you’re looking for environment, La Mancha is centrally located yet tucked away off the busy street with plenty of seating, good music, and kind, attentive staff. Honestly I could go on but you will have to just come for yourself. You will not be disappointed. By the way this post was unsolicited and I am not affiliated with La Mancha. I live in the USA. I just came here on vacation and fell in love with this place.
William Viquez
William Viquez: Both espresso and cappuccino were perfect. Balanced espresso with floral hints and soft aftertaste. The cappuccino’s temperature was spot on, and the milk-espresso ratio was just right. I also tried the empanada Argentina, it was good. I will revisit and recommend Café La Mancha.
Rachel Kleitches
Rachel Kleitches: Alberto, the owner, is amazing and so friendly! This coffee shop is a MUST if you are looking for great local coffee in San Jose. The atmosphere is also nice and relaxing. I already can’t wait to go back.
Amal W.J.E
Amal W.J.E: Great cheese cake !!! Good coffee! Fair prices , nice staff and great ambiance. There’s a courtyard shared with other establishments and a stage where bands jam.
Carlos
Carlos: Beautiful place, the coffee shop is inside the building. The Cappuccino has a good taste, unfortunately the oat milk was too sweat.
Jade Laneuville
Jade Laneuville: The cappuccino crema irlandesa is the best I ever had. Every time I go in San Jose I have to stop drink my special cappuccino. + the place is so beautiful.
Cord Thomas
Cord Thomas: Great little cafe in the center of San Jose. They even have almond milk which is a huge bonus! We had a vegan latte that was fantastic, and their iced cappuccino, which surprised us that it was sweet, but was still very good. Quite a lot of sketchy individuals coming in and out of the courtyard though. Would have preferred to sit inside. In any case, very enjoyable experience and they dealt with our bad Spanish very well.
Antoinette Ady
Antoinette Ady: Came here for coffee, also got caprese empanada. SO GOOD. 5 stars because I wouldn’t change a single thing. Great job, La Mancha.

OMAR JALAL
OMAR JALAL: Wow, this coffee is amazing! I’m a Starbucks fan but as a first time visitor I like to try the local stuff; this local coffee tastes amazing and is not less than Starbucks coffee quality…. 👍👍👍👍👍
Mugurel Andres
Mugurel Andres: Nice coffee place, tasty snacks and coffes.. bags of colombian coffee to buy as a present as well. Clean and friendly staff..
Kenneth Rivera
Kenneth Rivera: good coffee, made by real baristas! Expensive but in range as per cafeterias in the area.
Sergio Guillen
Sergio Guillen: The coffee is really good. The baked goods did not look all that fresh or yummy, so we passed (there is a Giacomin across the street) . The breakfast is "fast food-like" served in a no frills cardboard rectangle with plastic cutlery. The arepas were tasty, but I missed the classiness of at least plates. The prices were very affordable. Health safety measure were well kept. We felt at easy, unlike in some of the too crowded restaurants in the area. So plus and cons rather balanced in my view.
Restaurant Critic
Restaurant Critic: I tried the double espresso shot and their coffee is really good. I enjoyed it. I will try again and probably buy some beans from here as well. Service was fast and very attentive. Place had some people in it as they were having some coffee and cup cakes as they serve stuff like that as well. Highly recommend

Starbucks Los Yoses: what do users think?
Michael Wurm
Michael Wurm: This is reliable and known Starbucks Quality. Not a place for inexpensive food, but a place for their well known quality and also their their professional and attentive staff. 🙏🏻 Good and stable WiFi, allowing to do some remote business activities. They also allowed MAX, my service dog, to accompany me inside and he truly enjoyed their tripple cheese baguettes. 😘
Jelmer R
Jelmer R: Plenty of space to sit with nice atmosphere.
Nathan Yagi-Stanton
Nathan Yagi-Stanton: The cashiers are always very friendly and almost always speak both Spanish and English. The WiFi is very fast here so it’s a nice place to get a lot of work done. There is plenty of seating especially in the lower section. The standards seem to be set high and the staff always deliver a great experience. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the staff not having fun with each other or having an interesting conversation with the customers.

It’s always clean and the employees are very pleasant even though most do not speak English. The menu has a few specialty drinks that are not available in the USA. If you’re in the area, you should definitely check it out!

The price for my [Venti] Very Berry Refresher was about $5 USD and of course, free WIFi was available and super fast. The location is a busy shopping area with plenty to see and do 🇨🇷😍#lovejonezin on YouTube
Orion Huxley
Orion Huxley: Very bad coffee experience. I visit Starbucks for its strong, consistent, and good coffe everywhere I go. This store served the worst coffe I ever had at a Starbucks. Customer service is mediocre. Ambiance is fine. Wonderful location.

D C: Great place to relax in the nice part of San Jose CR. Great ambience, friendly staff, tasty food, great mimosa! I was very pleased with the quality and the quantity of the food. Great experience coming to this place! Prices compare to Seattle are a little cheaper.
Jason Goldsberry
Jason Goldsberry: Top tier in every way. Coffee tasting experience, brunch, and overall great environment. Service always is excellent. Dining room opens up to an enclosed outdoor area with a small playground for the kids.
Zach W
Zach W: Best coffee experience we had in Costa Rica. The quality of the coffee and knowledge of the staff were beyond top notch. Definitely recommend for coffee nerds looking for the whole tasting experience or anyone wanting a high quality cup.Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Kristin Flores
Kristin Flores: We’ve been here a few times and have always enjoyed our experiences! I’m a big latte fan and theirs are so smooth! My husband likes the cafe filtrado and there are a variety of beans to choose from! Picture below is the tico breakfast - gallo pinto, a common Costa Rican breakfast. It’s a lot of food and so good! Not picture but also delicious is their chocolate chip French toast! We love this place and there’s also a playground for the kids which my toddler loves!
Puuluu Wayan
Puuluu Wayan: I had a cup of American coffee and breakfast. Coffee was not impressive for the much higher than average coffee price. I call it no value. Breakfast bacon was healthy without salt. This means tasteless and NG. Service was so so or as like healthy no salted bacon. Building and garden were designed nicely and impressive. So this cafe restaurant is not for good tastes but enjoy being in a well designed space.
Irum Bilgrami
Irum Bilgrami: As the uber drove me through the downtown traffic of San Jose i felt apprehension. Is this place going to worth the drive? As soon as we pulled up in front of the cafe, I had the answer. The barista was so friendly as patient with my broken Spanish and asked the right questions as she pointed me towards the menu selection for both my appetite level and dietary preference. The tacos with mushrooms with a tangy spicy sauce was incredible and tasty. The ambiance with the music selection, as I sit in the outdoor patio has me completely relaxed and satisfied. The coffee is so good and fresh.
Eva Eger
Eva Eger: Coffe tastes really bad. People who know good coffee should not get one here! Place looks cute and fancy, thought you will taste that in the coffee too. But no, won’t recommend having your coffee here

Isaac F. Céspedes Camacho
Isaac F. Céspedes Camacho: It is extremely nice to see how San José is filled with nice and pleasant coffee shops…and this is one of them. In the heart of the capital, with a sober atmosphere and decoration, you find this place. The menu is simple and includes sweet and savory dishes. The coffee they serve is of very good quality. If it would be important (and I recommend it) that they use glass cups instead of the ones they have, in order to generate less waste. Very cute to hang out.
Pablo Barquero
Pablo Barquero: Walking in downtown San José one finds surprises and Tizate is one of those. The coffee and desserts are exquisite, and for those who love history, being surrounded by three extremely important buildings gives the place a unique plus.

Pictured is the smoked salmon toast- with very fluffy and fresh bread, well seasoned, and it came out quickly. I sat upstairs and watched the afternoon/evening rain come in. Good place to get some work done, catch up with company, or get a pick me up coffee. The drink menu also has a variety of cocktails and tea if caffeine isn’t what you look for.

It is Sunday so it may be how families entertain themselves and get ready for the week. The reason for a 3 star is that Starbucks wanted us to buy, pay for extra milk??? What???
