Well order 1 was mixed with 2 = cross contamination, order 4 the tamarindo was bad almost fermented. Vegetarian options: No meat, chicken or fish. Dietary restrictions: Allergic to sea food.

Micah Hebert: This is the most authentic diner experience (as conceptualized by gringos in the classic spirit of road-trip Americana) south of the Rio Grande, east of the Mississippi River, and north of the Darién Gap. This place is amazing. Classic diner service, open 24-hours, and a menu that puts a Meso-American twist on the whole thing: fresh natural fruit juices (try the “cas”), local fried cheese atop eggs with perfectly grilled onions, gallo pinto (rice & beans done in the Hispanic style), and coffee that is expectedly decent (given that it was likely grown within an hour’s drive). I was as smitten by the attractive tan woman of small head and big blue eyes that walked up next to my counter spot to order as I was by my meal, but alas, her girlfriend jaunted up and a quick caress of the face let me know that she was here for the food, not the romance (lest not from me). I walked over two miles through the worst downtown San Jose neighborhoods to get here, and truth be told, it was totally worth it. I hope next time a potential spouse walks up to order next to me, she thinks me the same. *NOTE* I got mugged walking back to my hotel. I was able to fight off the attacker (there were two of them but only one engaged) with only a minor scratch on my arm, and they didn’t get anything (my watch blocked the knife). Be sure to take the taxi instead of walking at night!!! Just makes the dinner all the more memorable. Cheers!

It was conveniently located near a large park, and it was also close to the hostel where we spent the night. It was easy to find and was an enjoyable mix of Oriental and Vegetarian / Vegan. A friendly local helped us order his fave plates and we enjoyed EVERY single things we asked for. At the end of our vegan feast we were also delighted at the affordability! We only spent 1 night and 1 day in San Jose, but if we ever get the chance to return, we would be sooooo happy. We enjoyed a friend rice with vegetables, dumplings and more. This place is WORTH the visit. Delicioso!!!

Joash Buenavista: If you love Peruvian dish, this is the place to go. My wife brought me here because it was one of her favorite places to go. She’s a local but I’m the tourist. From the outside, it didn’t seem appealing enough to enter the restaurant. Needless to say, I was skeptical. But, to my surprise, after entering this restaurant, I found myself shocked at how elegantly put together the place looked. It had an old traditional Spanish feel to it. And to top it off, the dishes were absolutely amazing. My favorite dish out of my wife’s recommendations was the soup. Try it, the dish will surprise you with its rich savory flavor. I’d love to go back and try out other dishes. I suddenly love Peruvian.
Ken Buckheit: The ceviche was to die for with large chunks of excellent seafood and mostly seafood instead of cheap filler. We also had a seafood soup which was also outrageous. I particularly enjoyed their homemade hot sauce which many might believe is too hit, but was perfect for me. I always love discovering a new type of pepper. The service was also outstanding.

I had their sea bass gratin and honestly I’ve never had anything that tasted so darn good! So much flavor in every dish. Their drinks are delicious and strong as well. Super clean place, with great atmosphere and incredible staff! You must come here if you’re in the area!

Lori Williams: We lived in Peru for 10 years. Since then we have traveled the world and this is by far the best and most authentic Peruvian food we have ever had our side of Peru. Portions were very plentiful. Food was delivered quickly and the waiter was attentive, friendly and helpful. Great night out!!
Restaurant Critic: This place is as authentic as they come. The ceviche is the real deal. Big lumps of fresh fish with the real rocoto pepper juice. Comes with corn and juca and sweet potatoes and of course the onions. Yummy. The main course was a fish with fresh seafood on top. With some sort of a tomato sauce. It is delicious. Their beef with shrimp was just ok. I tried a little bit from my friend. The beef was not the most tender and the rest of the shrimp was cooked with no sauce or anything which is a small bummer for the dish. It does come with some grilled vegetables and cut pieces of sliced garlic for taste. My friend did enjoy the surf and turf however not so much the shrimp. For dessert, i ordered the coconut flan and it is a piece of art. Delicious, not so creamy or heavy but just the right amount of sweet. I highly recommend this place.

Brian Ipock: The restaurant and team here highlight the best parts of Costa Rica and its bountiful ingredients at Sikwa. Every dish in the 5 course menu had balanced and complex flavors, complementing the natural ingredients sourced throughout the country. It was a wonderful experience and you could taste the pride in costa rica and its cuisine.

Peter Berkers: With an organised trip i went to Costa Rica. For our last evening we had chosen to eat local Costa Rican Food. A travel guide adviced Sikwa Restaurante when you would like to eat local Costa Rican dishes in San José. With a group of 13 we went to Sikwa and it was a nice evening. The food was delicious and the waiters were super friendly and advised their favorite dishes of the menu and answered all our questions about the food. I had chosen de Pejibaye tamale and for desert the purple corn flan. I tasted different local flavours and the composition of the food on the plates was nice. After dinner the tourleader asked for a nice and safe place to go out on that Saturday evening. And they advised Antik. That was a good and safe location with good music and atmosphere.

Kim Chao: We accidentally found this charming little eatery while walking “off the beaten path” but definitely walking distance from Hotel Crowne Plaza Corobici and the Hilton and Parque Sabana. Marco, the owner, is rightfully proud of his product, which is very fresh and tasty. We had pancitas de ajo (mini sandwiches with pomodoro sauce and garlic), caprese salad, and coconut shrimp pasta. Dining is outside on a little patio. They also seemed to have a vigorous Uber eats business and a separate inside dining room for larger groups. Very reasonable prices. Menu is in Spanish, but there are pictures, and staff speaks English. What a wonderful and serendipitous find this was!

Laurie Duffau: Lucky to have found this little place! Great service, Osmara was kind and very informative. The food was GREAT and well priced. Unlike any other restaurant we’ve tried in Costa Rica, our meal came out promptly, which made the experience even better since we were starving. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

j w: Very cool little Italian diner with a small outdoor patio. Marco the owner was welcoming and super helpful in guiding us thru the variety of dishes on the menu. Everything was delicious and freshly made. The sangria came in a large goblet with freshly cut fruits. The sampler trio was the perfect way to try a bite of different appetizers. The Casado was a great way to customize your own dinner. Highly recommend

Jesper Holdensen: We had a sub-par experience with an order we received on Uber eats. The owner, Marco, handled the situation like an absolute boss. We went back and had dinner tonight and the experience was great. The food was delicious and the service was great. The dips, fried risotto and garlic bread, which we had not tried yet was phenomenal. We will for sure be back on our next visit to San Jose. Make sure to try their lemonades too.

Arturo Peña: Delicious food at good prices. Very good service and nice place. They adhere to health regulations. I recommend sitting at the tables on the terrace, inside if someone asks for a milkshake the noise of the blenders becomes annoying.
Yoji Takahashi: Excellent service. I tried the Guacamole Burger and it was very good. For the comparison of more than two hamburgers, they gave us the fries arranged with ground meat and sauces. I asked that they not put custard on me and that they put the cheese on the side.

Roberto Vargas Fernández: Zero recommended. The food is pretty bad. We ordered some birria tacos that were pure cheese and tasted ugly. The boneless wings that we ordered were cold and seemed reheated because of how quickly they were brought It seemed to me that all the food was reheated in the microwave. I would definitely not come back here.
