Kam Breakfast & Bakery: what do users think?
A W
A W: The breakfast menu has a good mix of Tico and International options. My family each got something unique and I enjoyed all of the plates, particularly the Nordic omelette. Service was quick and the people working there were warm. Thank you!

Christina Neary
Christina Neary: Delicious breakfast spot! Fresh food and affordable prices. The staff were very kind and friendly. They were patient with me as I tried to order in Spanish :) The coffee drinks here are yummy and fun. I got the Thai Frappe, which was delicious and huge! There was an incredible looking assortment of cakes - will have to go back later for dessert. The croissant and egg plate were both scrumptious. Probably the best croissant I have ever had - so flaky and rich. You must try KAM if you are in the area!
Response: Thanks for your visit to Kam B&B. We wait soon for you!

Franco: what do users think?
Tatiana Vicol
Tatiana Vicol: Great brunch spot in the San Jose, Costa Rica. Have been to Franco twice and every time the food was delicious. It gets really busy around 11AM and wait times can be long but it is worth the wait. They have great options like chia pudding and more. The vibe is really cool too. The cold coffee is amazing. Recommended.
Response: Thank you Tatiana for your kind review! ☕☕
Montana Fleming
Montana Fleming: We went to Costa Rica to see the possibility of living there in future years, touring several beach areas and before returning to California we spent a week in the capital, in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods: Escalante. Every day we walked to have breakfast in different places, almost by chance we found Franco. The place is a spacious house with a room full of tables and a patio with many plants at the back. We sat on a couch at a low table and ordered two mochas and a bowl of granola and yogurt. Everything was delicious, the staff was fast, attentive and professional. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing moment with quality food & drinks.
Response: What a warm and detailed review! We are proud to be located in a neighborhood as special as Escalante, and that we have had the pleasure of having you spend some time in our home :) We hope you stop by San José soon!
Brianna Russell
Brianna Russell: This is a cute restaurant. We stopped by to grab brunch before spending the day in San Jose and were very pleased. We ordered the fluffy pancakes and were blown away. The cherry honey latte was also delicious. The atmosphere was very relaxed and the service was great. If we come back to San Jose I would love to try Franco again and get some of their pastries.
Response: Hi Brianna! Thank you for your review! We are glad that you enjoyed our pancakes! They are to die for 🥞
Julieta Chaffee

Kristin Flores
Kristin Flores: Amazing brunch spot!! If you get there around or after 11, expect a wait but know that it’s worth it. The iced horchata latte was so good and all three of our meals very delicious. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu!
Response: Hello Kristin! Thank you for your review ✨ And our iced horchata is 😍 😍
BumbleBee
BumbleBee: Super spot! Can only recommend. Busy so had to wait a little for a table (15 mins at at 09:40 on a Saturday), but we’ll worth it. Had the French Canadian Benedict dish. Amazing! Lovely staff.
Кристина Одиноченко
Кристина Одиноченко: Amazing huge cappuccino. One of the best in Escalante. Handmade cheesecake with soft warm caramel. Beautiful garden. Chargers. Nice music and atmosphere. Don’t forget your QR code to enter that place.💚👌
Response: What a warm review :) Thank you!
Alex Floyd
Alex Floyd: Great place to eat and get a coffee or in my case a mint hot chocolate! Great vibes and music. The patio with the roof unrolled was quite literally a breath of fresh air! It reset my stressed from driving in the city nervous system. Excellent 👍Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Michelle Hayes
Michelle Hayes: Excellent! Highly recommend. Sunday brunch at around 10:30 had only a 20 minute wait. The two Benedicts we tried were innovative and delicious. The pastries and desserts looked amazing. We also tried the cinnamon roll and it was just super. More of a flaky, croissant type…loved it!! The restaurant is requiring proof of COVID vaccination because they are operating at 100% capacity, so be prepared. The outside patio seating was delightful.
Response: Hi Michelle! Thanks for your review :)

Nashty Man
Nashty Man: Very well served. Good portion size for the price. Bummer they dont have Eggs Benedict but there Croque Madame was delicious. Giving Chez Christoph a run for the money
Response: Hello Nashty Man thanks for stopping by the cafe, have a nice day
IDaugste
IDaugste: Cute French style patisserie in San José with a nice terrace. It gets pretty busy after 9 am on the weekends. We came after 8 am on Saturday morning and were a little disappointed with the slow service. Several people came to take order for drinks, but ordered coffee must have been forgotten about. Order of croque madame, a croissant and pain au chocolat took over 20 mins. We had to order coffee for the third time after we received the food. I would recommend this place for sandwiches with consideration that the service can be very slow.
Response: Hello, thank you very much for your comment, we will pay more attention to the service, Regards

Kimberly Martin
Kimberly Martin: Great French restaurant with a bakery/breakfast also. Very nice, very French ambiance. Good for multiple occasions. Nice bar. Food is excellent. Good service! In downtown San Jose area. Was walkable from the cavallini dental Clinic. Been here many times and keep Coming back. Such good food and ambiance. Had salad, corvina and salmon. Profiteroles for dessert. Aperol Spritz for drink. Can’t go wrong here. Can even grab dessert from the bakery. Highly recommend. $50 pp for 1 drink each, 1 app, 2 fish dinners and 1 desert shared for 2. Left super full amd with leftovers. Can’t wait to try the French onion soup next time. Our hotel includes breakfast from here. Just love.
Response: Good morning Kimberly, thank you for your review. If you really liked the Bistrot plz give us a 5 stars because the 4 stars actually affect our ranking in a negative way since we overall have 4.7 . Thank you so much, and hope to see you back soon
Leanda Williams
Leanda Williams: The waitress was nice, attentive, The food was great, tasty. The service was great. The chef gave us a nice tasty desert. I highly recommend this place.
Response: Thank you very much !
René Schütte-Bruns
René Schütte-Bruns: Outstanding food and quality. This restaurant was a random find since it was close to my accommodation, yet I absolutely did not regret to go here. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the love the chefs put into the preparation of their food. I have been eating at many places throughout my travels, but this one is certainly playing in the league of the best restaurants I have been to. Highly recommended and totally worth the slightly upscale prices.
Response: Thank you very much for your comments. Much appreciated 🙏
Bartosz Brozek
Bartosz Brozek: French cafe and restaurant decorated in typical Parisienne style. We only had few cakes and a coffee, both were really good. Food menu looks interesting and I would love to try it next time when in town
Response: Thanks. Please come back for more 🙏
Stijn Floren

juan carlos Borbon
juan carlos Borbon: The service was awful, they forgot to provide us with water, napkins, cutlery... We ordered a sirloin steak that was cheap and poor quality. Fries coming with it, were re-fried and made 4 hours ago, burnt and salty. Unexistent choice of sauces. Waiters seemed to be amateurs not professionals as we had to remind them repeatedly we did not have water. Worst of it all, it was expensive as hell.

Bella Birgau
Bella Birgau: We came to Costa Rica for spring break and we were starving!! We went grocery shopping next door and we passed the French restaurant, when we came back to our hotel the hotel staff also recommended we go there and we did! The food was amazing, both me and my mom had the ribeye steak with the French fries and the salad (salad was just as delicious as the entrees). While waiting for our food we browsed the display of beautiful desserts. We got some to go as well, I couldn’t tell you what they are called but we ate every bite and still wanted more. Fabian was our server and being a bartender myself I was thoroughly impressed with how clean and organized everything was. I ordered a Sol beer that he squeezed lime on the bottom of the glass and made it even more delicious. He did a great job and we HAVE to go back one more time before we leave. 100/10 definitely recommend!!!
Response: Thank you so much for your comments 🙏
Jessica Mylan
Jessica Mylan: Beautiful place for DELICIOUS French food! I had coffee and french onion soup- and it was spot on with strong flavors of cognac and rich melted cheese! Beautiful, clean atmosphere off the bustling Paseo Colon. Their pastries and main dishes also looked fabulous! Classically hospitable Tico service as well. Highly recommend for a nice meal or a cafe and pastry stop!
Response: Thank you very much for your comments. Much appreciated

D C: Great place to relax in the nice part of San Jose CR. Great ambience, friendly staff, tasty food, great mimosa! I was very pleased with the quality and the quantity of the food. Great experience coming to this place! Prices compare to Seattle are a little cheaper.
Jason Goldsberry
Jason Goldsberry: Top tier in every way. Coffee tasting experience, brunch, and overall great environment. Service always is excellent. Dining room opens up to an enclosed outdoor area with a small playground for the kids.
Zach W
Zach W: Best coffee experience we had in Costa Rica. The quality of the coffee and knowledge of the staff were beyond top notch. Definitely recommend for coffee nerds looking for the whole tasting experience or anyone wanting a high quality cup.Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Kristin Flores
Kristin Flores: We’ve been here a few times and have always enjoyed our experiences! I’m a big latte fan and theirs are so smooth! My husband likes the cafe filtrado and there are a variety of beans to choose from! Picture below is the tico breakfast - gallo pinto, a common Costa Rican breakfast. It’s a lot of food and so good! Not picture but also delicious is their chocolate chip French toast! We love this place and there’s also a playground for the kids which my toddler loves!
Puuluu Wayan
Puuluu Wayan: I had a cup of American coffee and breakfast. Coffee was not impressive for the much higher than average coffee price. I call it no value. Breakfast bacon was healthy without salt. This means tasteless and NG. Service was so so or as like healthy no salted bacon. Building and garden were designed nicely and impressive. So this cafe restaurant is not for good tastes but enjoy being in a well designed space.
Irum Bilgrami
Irum Bilgrami: As the uber drove me through the downtown traffic of San Jose i felt apprehension. Is this place going to worth the drive? As soon as we pulled up in front of the cafe, I had the answer. The barista was so friendly as patient with my broken Spanish and asked the right questions as she pointed me towards the menu selection for both my appetite level and dietary preference. The tacos with mushrooms with a tangy spicy sauce was incredible and tasty. The ambiance with the music selection, as I sit in the outdoor patio has me completely relaxed and satisfied. The coffee is so good and fresh.
Eva Eger
Eva Eger: Coffe tastes really bad. People who know good coffee should not get one here! Place looks cute and fancy, thought you will taste that in the coffee too. But no, won’t recommend having your coffee here

Alexandre Laflamme
Alexandre Laflamme: Makes all other restaurants in the area Obsolete. I was expecting the portions and price to be good, but I was surprised by how delicious it all was too. I was able to get a full plate of food for only 3000 Colones. The customer service is also amazing. La Mancha: what do users think?
Al Fuentes
Al Fuentes: First I want to qualify this review by telling you that I’ve had coffee all around the world. It is one of the main reasons why I travel. This coffee place is legitimately at the top of the list! If you want a true Costa Rican coffee experience then you have to come here. The owner, Alberto, gets his beans directly from the farmers and roast them himself! The freshness of the coffee and the quality of the bean from the Tarrazú region is second to none. Also, it is perfectly roasted to bring out all of the best flavors. Most of Costa Rica’s coffee is exported, so it is hard to find a true local coffee shop. Like a true specialty coffee shop, there are multiple brew methods and you can even take a bag of coffee home with you. If you’re looking for environment, La Mancha is centrally located yet tucked away off the busy street with plenty of seating, good music, and kind, attentive staff. Honestly I could go on but you will have to just come for yourself. You will not be disappointed. By the way this post was unsolicited and I am not affiliated with La Mancha. I live in the USA. I just came here on vacation and fell in love with this place.
William Viquez
William Viquez: Both espresso and cappuccino were perfect. Balanced espresso with floral hints and soft aftertaste. The cappuccino’s temperature was spot on, and the milk-espresso ratio was just right. I also tried the empanada Argentina, it was good. I will revisit and recommend Café La Mancha.
Rachel Kleitches
Rachel Kleitches: Alberto, the owner, is amazing and so friendly! This coffee shop is a MUST if you are looking for great local coffee in San Jose. The atmosphere is also nice and relaxing. I already can’t wait to go back.
Amal W.J.E
Amal W.J.E: Great cheese cake !!! Good coffee! Fair prices , nice staff and great ambiance. There’s a courtyard shared with other establishments and a stage where bands jam.
Carlos
Carlos: Beautiful place, the coffee shop is inside the building. The Cappuccino has a good taste, unfortunately the oat milk was too sweat.
Jade Laneuville
Jade Laneuville: The cappuccino crema irlandesa is the best I ever had. Every time I go in San Jose I have to stop drink my special cappuccino. + the place is so beautiful.
Cord Thomas
Cord Thomas: Great little cafe in the center of San Jose. They even have almond milk which is a huge bonus! We had a vegan latte that was fantastic, and their iced cappuccino, which surprised us that it was sweet, but was still very good. Quite a lot of sketchy individuals coming in and out of the courtyard though. Would have preferred to sit inside. In any case, very enjoyable experience and they dealt with our bad Spanish very well.
Antoinette Ady
Antoinette Ady: Came here for coffee, also got caprese empanada. SO GOOD. 5 stars because I wouldn’t change a single thing. Great job, La Mancha.

El Tostador: what do users think?
Mirley Vega
Mirley Vega: My husband and I really enjoyed our time here. Food was tasty, the place was cozy, and customer service was on point. It is a little noisy because it is located in one of the main boulevards in San José, but the view is great. 👌 You can go here for a quick hot or cold drink, take your laptop with you, and enjoy your time there with nice pastries and sweets. 😋
louis yagera
louis yagera: Decent restaurant in San José. Food is ok , portion are large. Price is fair.
Cristian S.
Cristian S.: Great atmosphere, friendly staff, clean restrooms and great food! Great place for breakfast!
Anny
Anny: First time I came here I ordered Cafe con leche, croissant and apple strudel and they were amazing. The baked goods were nicely toasted, especially the croissant. The second time I came here I had a different experience. I ordered the same coffee but it wasn’t hot enough. I had the potato strudel and apple strudel and both tasted like they were microwaved leaving the texture too soft. Needs consistency here.
Logemann Wissanee
Logemann Wissanee: Good view and service!! We came here for coffee and Churros. It was pleasant to have a seat and enjoy the coffee here.
J T
J T: Courteous service and lots of patience while serving our group of student tourists. Plus, the frozen coffee out of this world. Really, this place is a source of unquestionable quality goods like chocolate, coffee, nuts and seeds, and more.
Lorna O. Davison
Lorna O. Davison: My favorite place for cappuccino in San Jose.
Ace Handler
Ace Handler: Very nice spot on Independence Day, not too busy and good coffee & treats. Good place to watch the Ticoaction 🙂
